Character History:

Two darkfriend parents raised the demure child, Eimee Ziela, in a village in Andor.

Ignorant of her parents’ dangerous lifestyles, Eimee was blessed with a happy childhood and few worries in life. She simply did as told, and thought nothing of the days, sometimes week-long absences of her mother and father; and this is the way they had wished it to be until she was old enough to learn the truth.

Of course, this ironically resulted in an innocent, kind girl, nice to anyone unless told otherwise. Not exactly Darkfriend material, but the naivety made up for it.

However, when Eimee entered her teens she became more and more curious about these absences. It resulted in arguments and tense atmospheres, and she found it odd that her parents would be so touchy about her interest in the subject.

So one day when Eimee was 14, she followed her father outside one rainy night. She hid in the shadows under the grey sky and, holding a cloak tightly around herself to protect from the wind, followed him out of the village.

After a while he stopped by two big men, and they started talking in low voices. Eimee watched from around a corner, but found she couldn’t hear anything. Soon voices began to turn heated, then they got louder and louder. Eimee watched with wide eyes as they started shouting at one another, then a fight broke out. She wanted to do something, but didn’t know what. It’d be alright, though, she told herself. Until she saw the glint of a blade. She stood frozen, for a moment, thinking it wasn’t real, but she knew it was. Eimee rushed forward, and one of the men turned towards her in surprise. Before he could get closer, something happened that she didn’t quite understand. Something—air, she thought in astonishment—whacked him around the back of the head, knocking him to the ground, blood splashing over the cobbled ground. Eimee turned to see the other staring at her in disbelief. She thought, for a moment, she was going to die, but he quickly turned round and ran off, casting a menacing glare at her. Eimee thought her father would have been ok, though when she turned round she burst into tears; he had been stabbed and was bleeding profusely. She rushed over to him, but he told her to run, and that he loved her. She did as told and ran all the way back home.

Of course, her mother was distraught. She put on a brave face for her daughter, although she doubted the story of both the men running away; she could tell that Eimee was lying. The fever was enough to confirm her suspicions. Eimee was soon told about the family connections with the Shadow, and that she was not to learn  to Channel at the Whiter Tower, but somewhere else…
