I hate .gif's.

This is a signature I made to use on another site (RPing forums). I got a few more characters (about six  :-\ :-[ :D) And so, I thought, it'd be easier to make one of these rotating sigs. So, I got onto animation shop (that comes with paint shop pro 7) and did it. It saves it as a bloody .gif file.  >:( I can see very clearly the difference between the first and second. It's lost half the bloody colours.  :(

I see no difference in the colors.

I do. On the second, the text is much lighter than the first. The same with the mountain, behind the J. That is lighter too.

Maybe you should use a different program.  I have a really good one called GIF Animator.

Gif's by their very nature cause some loss of color if I recall correctly, it has to do with the format

*nods* Exactly why I hate the bloody things. I wanted to save it an a PNG. But oh no, can't have that....*glares at animation shop*

The only animated graphics format available is GIF, which is limited to 255 visible colors for the whole animation, which in turn results in progressively more "dotting" to approximate different colors the more gradients, frames, fades, and special effects you add.

 

An animation standard for higher quality graphics formats would be a godsend, and have been something people have wanted for well over a decade, but for now, the only possible option exists in Flash (and, to a newer lesser extent, Silverlight).
