The night had been pleasant and Cari woke up next to Sam with an odd feeling. It wasn't a bad feeling, but it was now morning and having the light shine on what she was about to do made Cari a bit afraid. Her children were her life. That was not a fascade, even though the life she'd choosen had been. Cari wondered if Sam would ever see through it.

Daylight brought upon the sounds of the morning routine, it wasn't a hard day, nor an early one. It was their only real day off, if you considered just tending the barns a day off. But that was what today was, their weekly holiday. Cari smiled over at Sam as she watched him. She doubted he was sleeping, the life of the yards was routine and most people were up well before dawn. She herself would have been up, but she'd a long evening and slept past it. Cari smiled in fondness.

Thump, Thump! was all that could be heard before Cari's bedroom door burst open. Cari could hear Kate crying in the background as Aiden jumped on the bed. "I won!" Aiden looked at the bed and noticed Sam who was still feigning sleep. Aidan yelled at the top of his lungs. "Mommy had company last night!"

Cari pulled Aiden down from standing on the bed in his blue stripped pajamas. "Shush or you'll wake him. You don't want him to thump you like you just did your sister do you?"

"But Mom I didn't do anything." Aiden drawled on about what had happened as Cari grabbed a shirt hanging over the chair next to the bed. It was Sam's but it would do to walk out and see what happened to Kate. The shirt smelled of Sam and Cari hugged it to her face and took in his scent before moving into the living room. Kate had stepped on a ball and slipped. Cari picked the girl up and consoled her as she headed back to her room. Aiden was poking at Sam trying to wake him up. Aiden wasn't shy, Kate on the other hand was, she clung to Cari as she sat down on the bed. Cari had to unwrap the girls arms to lean down and whisper into Sam's ear. "You aren't fooling me." Cari bit his ear softly and then moved to kiss him softly on the lips. "Wake up lover." Cari spoke out loud, "You've got people to meet."

To say Sam had a restless night would have been an understatement. While his night with Cari was satisfying his mind kept him up most of the night as he could not stop being nervous about meeting his kids. Sam was not prone to being anxious, so when he started to feel that way he could not deal with it. Still as the sun started to rise above the horizon, his eyelids started to slowly drop. He had only just fallen asleep when Cari moved beside him. He had felt her against his body most of the night and it was surprisingly comfortable considering he had been out of the habit for a good length of time.

Her movement woke him, but he could not bring himself to open his eyes. The older he got the more comfortable sleeping in became and it was even worse when the bed was warm. As the heat from Cari's body left the sheets, Sam's body responded with some goosebumps. They took away the rest of the sleepiness he felt.

"I won!" a young voice screamed which was soon followed by more loud words. "Mommy had company last night!"

The weight of the kid of the bed suddenly disappeared and he heard Cari saying something to the boy that quieted him. There was a few moments of calm when suddenly he felt himself be poked in the thigh. He immediately thought it was Cari, but realised as the poking persisted that it must be the loud kid. He had not even viewed the boy yet, but he already reminded him of another particular rambongious boy at that age. Heaven help him if the boy had picked up his youthful traits!

It wasn't too long before the bed sunk down again though this time he was sure that Cari was sitting beside him. The words confirmed it soon after, "you aren't fooling me." He felt a nibble on his ear and her soft lips pressed again his before she said in a whisper, "Wake up lover."

Cari spoke out loud next, "You've got people to meet."

Sam pulled his arms above his head and the first thing he noticed was that Cari was wearing his shirt. It was way too big for her, but certain parts of her body's shape could not be hidden. He smiled at her and quickly took in the two kids so that he would not get arroused. He smiled at both of them and pushed himself up in bed. The boy was giving him an odd look while the girl in Cari's arms was hiding her face in her mother's shoulder.

He was about to introduce himself when the boy said, "my name is Aiden and that is Kate and today is our freeday!" He jumped around a little and almost looked like he was going to drop kick the night stand when he suddenly stopped to say, "hey, who are you?"

"I'm Sam," he said and extended a hand to the boy.

Cari giggled softly at Aiden's way with words. He was abrupt and to the point. Kate hid in Cari's arms. It took a little wrestling with her to get her to sit facing Sam in her lap, but it did happen. Cari kept one arm wrapped tightly around Kate's waist, or the effort of getting a face to face meeting would be lost. Kate wanted to scrample back to her room and hide until the strange man was gone. Cari couldn't help but laugh at her daughters fears. "Sam won't hurt you baby."

Aiden was vigorously shaking Sam's hand and Cari smiled. "Kate, Aiden, I'd like you to meet Sam."

Aiden giggled. "I've already met him Mom."

Cari tickled Aiden with her free hand. "Let me finish will you." Aiden sat down with a gruff and turned to watch the stranger in her bed. "Sam is someone who was very close to me at one time. And now he's mysteriously showed up here."

"Get on with it Mama." Aiden was getting impatient.

"I won't tell you if you keep up this behavior."

"I'm sorry." Aiden hung his head and Cari poked him.

"Sam is your father."

Cari took Sam's hand. "Sam, this is Kate and Aiden, your children. They were born in Arad Doman." That would give Sam some idea of when they had been born, if he'd read her log book she had Glen send back to him.
