New game Idea thread.

This is just a brainstorm thread for new games (other than mafia) that can be played here.  Reminder that these games should be on par with the skill level required to play the mafia games.  While some of the little games played in fiddles, and the Orgs like, "The person above me" are fun, this board is for the "Organized Games" as the board title indicates.

Also let's please not spam this thread heavily. It is meant for genuine suggestions and the discussion of suggested games.  If spam becomes heavy I will delete it and ask that Alys and Danya do also.

Please note that the requirements for the games are these:

1. have some level of skill, even if its minimal

2. be playable by multiple players. Single player games are no fun for everyone else.

A couple of games that I've run on other boards that have worked out well are:

- Acrophobia (which used to be a java-based game from Bezerk, but works well as a forum game).  In this one, the moderator posts an acronym, people submit ideas for what the acronym might mean, and everyone votes on which answer they like best (which usually means the one they think is the funniest).  Points are given for votes and bonuses, and the winner is the one with the most points after a specified number of rounds.

- Boticelli.  This is a guess-the-person game, sort of an augmented Twenty Questions.  The moderator thinks of a person (here it might be a WoT character, but usually it's a real famous person), and gives the first letter of their name (usually last name).  The players then try to earn information about that person by stumping the mod on other famous people who have a name that starts with the same letter.  (For example, if I'm the mod, and my person is Robert Jordan, I tell the players the letter is J, and they ask me to identify famous J-people by asking questions like "Who was the president of the United States whose wife was Lady Bird?" and so on.)  If a player stumps the mod, s/he gets to ask a yes or no question about the mod's person (like "Is your person alive?") which the mod must answer truthfully.  The players get up to 20 questions of the mod.  The game ends when a player successfully identifies the mod's person, or when the 20 questions have been asked and nobody is able to identify the person.  In the first case, the player who successfully guessed gets control of the thread and can be the next moderator.  In the second case, the original moderator retains control and can start a new round.

- Balderdash.  This is a game about lying and spotting lies.  The board-game version asks people to give false definitions for a word, but I have also played games in which the round was about identifying a picture or answering a question (often the people I play with have too much vocabulary power to play the regular way).  After the question is asked and all answers are submitted, the players vote for the answer they think is correct.  Points are awarded for choosing the correct answer and for getting votes for your fake answer.  The winner is the person with the highest point total after a certain number of rounds.

...I'm sure I can think of more forum games... let me think about it and I'll get back on.

That reminds me of Egwene's guessing game. The starting player/ the winner thinks of something, anything and informs the players that s/he is ready. Anyone can play. The players ask yes or no questions to narrow the field until someone is able to guess the answer. That player is the winner and starts the game over with a new something.

isn't that also called 20 questions?

I don't think that it's limited to 20 questions.

The guessing game sounds workable. Alys care to have the honor of taking it for it's maiden voyage?

Acrophobia also sounds like it would be fun.  Zarina would you care for the honors of modding the first go?

Edit: ouch the horrid typos! :-X

Anyone up for a game of The Land of Doubles?  I'd explain the rules, but the game is trying to figure them out.
