So Sci-Fi is going to air Flash Gordon in August.  Also on August 7 Flash Gordon will be released on DVD.  This version of Flash is the 1980 movies with Sam Jones playing Flash, Max Von Sydow playing Ming the Merciless, and Topol as Dr Zarkov.

The TV show is placing a 21st-century spin on a science-fiction classic, SCI FI’s contemporized

version of Flash Gordon follows the all-new adventures of Flash (Johnson) and his

companions, Dale Arden and Dr. Hans Zarkov. Ordinary people thrust into

extraordinary circumstances, they find themselves as Earth’s last line of defense

against the forces of the merciless dictator Ming.

I'm excited how about you? ;D

Ming?? I'm excited, too!! I'm going to Ming's tonight!  They have the best honey walnut prawns.  ;D

Ok, so I'm not actually excited about Flash, but that's because I don't really know anything about that storyline. Sounds fun tho.  :-\  :)

Being a scifi fan, I saw this at the theater and bought it when it first came out on VHS. It was not bad, but I thought it could have been better. It seemed a bit too 'campy' to me. Of course the special effects are very outdated; they can do so much more now.

It could be that I just couldn't appreciate it properly because I had just seen an X rated version of Flash in Japan. (What can I say? We were bored and it was there and we were curious!) It's the only movie I have ever seen that was both hilarious and grotesque! I was torn between laughter and retching. It was a unique and bizarre experiment. Anyway, so when this one came out, all the time I was watching it, I kept remembering the other one. I guess the moral of this story is don't go to see X rated versions of your favorite movie genre.

If you order it on line, be sure you get the right one. ;D

Yeah, it was so gaudy it was good! Great soundtrack, poor special effects. Brian Blessed's booming laugh as Vulcan, Timothy Dalton as Prince Baron, and who can forget that soundtrack (best sung when walking home from the ub a bit tipsy!)

Flash!

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

He'll save evryone of us!
