Welcome to the Feast of Fools: The Reunion

Greetings, esteemed members of the White Tower and Warders’ Yard.

 

I am Heavy, the Amyrlin Seat, the Watcher of the Seals, the Flame of Tar Valon (for this Event), and I would like to invite you to a great party as part of our Feast of Fools* in the White Tower. It would be great to see you there as you can check out the renovations to your quarters and the Tower. Renovations so skillfully done that you would never guess at the level of… non-devastation that the Tower has undergone.

*In the Wheel of Time-verse, Feast of Fools is celebrated during the month of Tammaz (in Arad Doman and the Borderlands) and Shaldine (everywhere else), the exact day varying according to locality. A day in which all order of rank is flip-flopped: people of high status perform lowly tasks, while the low do no work and give orders to their usual superiors. In many villages and towns the most foolish person is given a lofty but foolish title, and for that one day everyone has to obey whatever orders the chosen one gives. Celebrations for this holiday can include wearing of masks, pranks, and the exchange of sweets and small pastries.
Some of examples of titles: Lord of Unreason, Lady of Misrule, King of Chaos, Queen of Fools, etc.

 

At the White Tower & Warders, The Feast of Fools is a time when Aes Sedai can relive their Accepted/Novice days, Der'Manshima can relive their Algai/Mansima days, and Novices/Accepted/Algai/Manshima can frolic around as full ranked Aes Sedai and Der'Manshima! Some Accepted and Manshima may become the  WT/W staff!
Anyone may participate in the rank change, just remember that the rank change is only for the FoF event threads and not anywhere else in the Tower.

Now might also be a good time to report that there was some tiny, trifling damage to the Tower and few other bits here and there, caused by some completely well-meaning and totally innocent aspirants, who also are, just to mention in passing, very cute and amazingly dashing. Our Mother, the Amyrlin Seat (the normal one, not this amazing Amyrlin-for-the-day) wanted to get into the fun and has…, remodeled the Warder’s Yard as well.

 

But this completely inadvertent damage to the Tower, related in some way to baby moat monsters and a certain bathtub from the Green Ajah, has been repaired and the Tower is again ready to open its doors to all its initiates to celebrate the Feast of Fools, with aspirants and Aes Sedai swapping places for the duration of the Festival. Which can only be a good thing. Us aspirants, especially the sensible and trustworthy Accepted, will look after the Tower well and probably won’t break it again.

 

There will be a number of threads to make sport in during the event, with much revelry and the Brothers and Sisters of the Tower and the Gaidin can relive their days as aspirants – those halcyon days so far in the past that generally only the Brown Ajah or archaeologists show any interest in them. There were thoughts of closing the Moat during this party, but sadly good sense did not win out and it remains open.
