Ooc ok let's get some partying on, been way too long since last.

Liitha shook the dust of her cape, she looked forward to being inside, she hoped the wind of the mountain would soon turn and take the smell away. She had spent the afternoon helping out patrolling, and by now normally would be heading back to the Brown quarters, but not tonight, Cara was busy with her books.

Liitha wasn't sure what it was she was investigating and with the mood she was in she was not about to ask. She knew to stay away when she was in this mood, so she was heading for the nearest inn to get an ale, and see if there was some better company to find.

She folded the cape up over her arm as she headed in to one with jolly music going on, seemed just what she was in the mood for tonight. After getting an ale and ordering some stew she headed over to a table in the middle to sit down and wait to see who else would be wandering in after a tiresome shift.

Ooc: Just getting myself into the game. XD It'll be crap, rusty as all get out...

The day was typical, and boring. So bloody boring. Conor tossed his blades with less ceremony then necessary (in their scabbards!) onto his bed and sat heavily down beside them. Sniff. Heavily sighing, he lifted an arm and took a strong sniff of his armpits with a bit of a cringe. Why? Why did he bother. Sweat smelled awful and awesome and he smelled like both. Like every other damn day.

"unnnnggghh." Moans of disgruntled stretching and undressing and with a tiny towel around his waist Conor made his way to the baths, showered, towel smacked a few of the smarmy trainees, and returned to his room and dressed. He gave himself one last sniff, Awesome, and tied one of his more official blades to his belt. While he was intending to go out for fun, officially speaking he was still a member of the Tower Guard and age and experience taught him that it meant something. How he missed parts of his youth.

It was a common tavern inn, a place of drink, and an ooooold face that was now a little older caught his attention. The smile on his face was a very Palfrey! smirk. "Now.... " He slid into the chair next to her. "Liitha, yes? What is a book warder doing in a place like this?"

Game, he never had game. But really it wasn't the point.

Liitha inclined her head in confirmation on the question of the name. She meanwhile tried to remember the name of the man infront of her, as she heard his comment about the ajah of Cara.

She shook her head, "she got her nose in a book, I am staying out of it..' She felt the frustration through the bond, "also did you not notice the stench outside, I been on patroll, so been out in the shit all night..Need something to forget it" she raised the ale, "and what brings you here tonight then?"

He leaned over and took a smell, coughing up a racket at the unforgivable stench. He pinched his nose and waved two fingers at the passing service maiden for two drinks. For him. "Bloody... And I though I smelled bad earlier." Shaking his head trying to ignore the stench now clogging up his nose, rubbing it with the back of his hand. "Sorry you were there. Patrol is rarely a favored pasttime when in the slogs."

He looked at her face, the confusion was there, behind the eyebrows. "You don't know who I am, do you?" His shoulders slumped a little. "You would think running out to the yard in just a loin cloth to fight some break-in thieves would keep you remembered." Conor muttered a little more under his breath. "The name is Conor, Conor Palfrey. I was a slave to Cairma during training."

Liitha nodded, "extra hands are always nice for the guard, and I get out from under the bookdust, pass time until we hit the road next time.." She stoped mid sentence and groaned looking at who came in the door. The younger tower guard from what she heard probably would have had a lot in common with her mum, she had a phase where she struggle and tried to mimic what she heard of her mother. Liitha had long since concluded she in some ways now probably took more after her dad then the mother she never met. Adventures was one thing, heading head first through every door though was just foolish, she was glad she hadn't had mentees like that and pitied the ones stuck training her - she knew she wouldn't have had the patience.

"Well here comes trouble.." She muttered under her breath.

---

Cyrain looked at her closet she was fresh out of the river, having bathed the stench of after her shift. She was off duty so no need for the uniform, flipping through the piles she went for black breeches with some simple embroideries of oakleaves climbing up towards her thighs. She slipped on boots and a black top with a v-neck that had a deep red rose embroidered on the back. She quickly comed her hair with her fingers and put it into a tail.

There all ready to hit the town and find some fun, and maybe some food. She headed down and went past a couple based on the music before picking one that seemed lively, entering she looked around to see if she could find some familiar faces and some company to banter with.

Tankard set upon the table he picked it up to drink. Conor's eyebrow could not raise higher by Liitha's segway comment about trouble. It was exceedingly rare for him to hear it from anyone when not in reference to himself. Following where Liitha looked as she now sipped from her drink, Conor knew better than to invite trouble -him? really? Yes. Age made him at least a little less dense.- "Cy? I didn't think she was that much trouble. Strong willed and stubborn, perhaps. No worse than Cairma - less scary, anyway." His mentor chased pranking trainee's through the yard with a 6 foot sword. There was still a nick in the tree she took a chunk out of when one said tower guard climbed it to escape.

"So, you don't want to call her over? Looks like she bathed recently, so she at least smells better than you." Tact. He still had to learn tact.

Liitha didn't know Cairma that well, truth be told she pushed most people away after a though episode in her youth. She sometimes though of Lyv and how she had felt betrayed and pushed her away, for something she would have done herself today. She had been too preoccupied to see the full reality of things.

She only knew of this one because she still talked to Andular at times, and he had trained her too. She saw the woman spotted them and seemed to be headed over, "well don't think that would be nesicary, and I don't really know her, just through hearsay" refering to his comments of her not being so bad, "so you could be right" but she trusted her instincts, Andular had said something of the same but she was done with the days channeling her mom and gotten an offtaste for that kind of behaviour. Her past mentor was patient and she knew she probably should take a leaf out of his book, he had been able to tell her of her mom which he also seemed fond of. Liitha just wasn't sure she had it in her anymore to deal with it beyond Cara, but that was a different matter all together she told herself and sent warm feelings through the bond.

cyrain saw some faces she seen around the yard before, their names would not come to her but she was sure she seen them train. In fact, if she remembered correctly from one of her old mentors training session he had mentioned something about training that woman once too, she remembered she had seen her spar with someone else and got distracted, the spar had seemed a lot more fun then the footwork Andular had her working on that session. She now realised the inane rehersal of such things did make you better, and would do it, but it was far from her favourite thing to train in New motion patterns so that her muscle memory would do it without her thinking.

She started to make her way over, only stoping to order a mug for the table and grabed a chair as she reached it. She twisted it around and sat down across it with a big grin "room for one more?" Reaching out her hand to the one closest she continued by presenting herself not waiting for an answer to the first, in her experience after a night out there was always room for more "Cyrain, but just call me Cy"

"Well, there is that. But she's coming over anyway." He replied to Liitha before the other woman came over. There was a familiarity to her, like a walking ball of slow simmering emotion below a controlled surface. He tried not no shake that feeling as it often proved true at some point down the road.

"Always room for another of the Yard." He said, pushing away the first tankard he finished and sliding over the second drink that he had ordered, drinking a little lighter from it. Usually he drank one too fast and it took too long for a replacement that it felt wiser to just order two at the start. He was a big boy and could hold his drink well. After training with Cairma, it almost became necessary.

It must be a good day. Which at times could tell just how messed up his thoughts had once been in his youth. Sitting at a table with two women who were not terribly hard looking or overly scared, but capable educated women would be constitute a good day. Two, not just one. That he felt a little wary of being between two such women, of at least one could kick his ass on a normal day. Estrogen frightened him more than the masculine violence that could occur in these places. To this day Conor still could not pick out why that was.

"I have heard of you, Cy. Conor Palfrey. You're still relatively new to the Yard, right? Just got your Guard rank? Unless I'm mistaken." He did travel a fair bit so he could be behind on all the things.

Liitha nodded "Lii here, you trained with Andular too if I am not wrong." She sipped her beer happy to let them have at it for now, scaning the room for older faces, she sudenly felt like she was in the wrong place, but maybe there would be dancing later, it had been a while now.

--

Cy waves her hand in the air like brushing it away. " yeah, fairly recent, still adjusting to the new schedule" she happily payed the woman who came with more ale to their table, and poured herself one. "The extra freetime is nice, though I could do without the winds and skies, a nice sunny day to go riding maybe.." She knew it wouldnt be tomorrow though, she was set up to start discipline training, but that was a worry for then not now.

"So whats on the schedule for tonight?"

Conor held up his tankard, "You're kinda looking at it. Unless there something dramatic happening somewhere, this is basically all that happens. .. Every night... For... forever." He murmured more and more into his drink and took a sip. "You will find that a lot of this is just routine until someone bloodies it up with something or someone."

Posted

Cy shook her head, "Nah, routines get old, there's got to be something more, I like adventures.." And she had a knack for finding them too, not always the best ideas in hindsight, but bloody amasing then and there. She grinned to herself, though they had beaten some sense into her, and she had learned to control herself somewhat, she still liked to get her feet wet.

"...just need to find the right kind," she chuckled thinking about walking out on her mentor after being drenched the one time for not listening. Oh he had not been right pleased with her, it was not the last time she had been doing push ups in her days in the yard. She glanced at her arms a moment, nothing so bad it was not good for anything, she had got a nice toning from it all.

She wanted to relax and ale wasn't doing it for her tonight, reaching a hand up to call a waiter she looked at the rest, "Round of scotch?"

Posted

Conor wanted to flinch a little about the wanting of adventure. He wasn't old, nor had he gone on more than any other. But he had been at Kandor. He had seen some of the battles that come along. Things like that made him really appreciated the quiet down times before trouble struck. Though, if he were to hazard a guess, saying such things that Cy (SH-y -- he had to remind himself) said likely meant that trouble was once again around the corner.

He drank as his tankard, and side-eyed the younger of the two women. "Sure. That or some of that fire whisky sounds just about right. If you want it to burn, may as well set it on fire." He gave himself a chuckle. "Aside the swamp of the streets, what was the last adventure you were on?"

Cyrain twirled her second glass of scotch looking down into it "been some time now, went and visited the family after I got raised, and just been trying to get back into things after returning". She got letters now and then from her sister about her niece and nephew, both sounding like they did well, another life another time. She finished her scotch in one gulp and looked around for a waiter to order another.

Cyrain looked up and smiled "should probably find something soon, maybe travel some or something.." she raised her glass "cheers!"

she took a sip then put the glass down, "on that note, you havent heard about any excursions going down in the near future?"

Conor hummed thoughtfully, trying not to dwell too hard on the idea of family. As a disowned child of a merchant who has been single his entire life, there wasn't really much happening in that area. No matter how much he liked the idea of starting his own. Ugh, bad palfrey! Fatherhood is scarier than a thousand trollocs. Nope. Nope..

"Must have been a nice trip. Be sure to stop by when you're in the area as it's not common to visit places on your own time. Tower owns our souls now." Smiling at the barmaid as she clunked down the last ale he ordered and a small clear glass of scotch poured over a large block of ice, he picked up the scotch this time to sip. "There are always yearly trips to the Borderlands. They grow more dangerous these days so I think they stopped taking trainees. I think. New Tower Guards on the other hand still require that training. You could always ask to go on one of those." He gave a head dip to Liitha, "After all, we have all done it."

Liitha smiled and nodded in return, oh more then once, and probably places that wouldnt be condoned by all. It had been nesicary to close a chapter of her life, but she was not about to put ideas into the gals head.

"Yes, always Aes Sedai needing escorting, there are other nice trips about too." In her opinion it would be better she wet her feet going somewhere else, these days even trips to other cities could be eventfull enough, at least if traveled the old way.

--

Cy smiled, "yes, the ocean would be fun too see too" she could imagine it from one of the few books she picked up for rainy days in bed. It would probably all have to wait though as a new regime awaited tomorow, she grimaced and downed the rest of her glass chasing it with some ale. There were people who were starting to dance now too, and it looked fun, not something she ever mastered much but she still liked it. "Should we join the floor?" She motioned towards the dancers with a gleefull grin, she could start feeling the booze seteling in making her feel nice and warm.

Nodding sagely, "Travelling is good for the soul." He admitted. "You learn a lot, and it's nice to get out from an Aes Sedai's apron strings. That and they can't chase you for a blasted bond when you aren't there." Growing out of that 'fat' stage was awkward for him as the Greens seemed to stand a little longer when he was being put through his paces.

Conor gave Cy a look of abject horror at the invitation to the dance floor. "If you think handing me a bow and arrow is a bad idea, a dance is even worse. I dance like dad." True or not, it took him years to develop the footwork for the sword forms. "Go ahead and grab the next guy and i'll keep your drink cold."

Cyrain gigled "your a tower guard and no one said nothing about bows and arrows, but suit yourself" she looked to Liitha and was about to count her a lost case when the woman gave a shrug and stood up. Well that was a surprice since she had been mostly silent during their conversation, Cyrain was already moving too the beat as they walked towards the floor, and both ladies soon was mixed in with the other dancers, changing places as the dance called for it.

As the tune came to an end, Littha was at another side and seemingly preoccupied with someone she probably knew, seemed like potential guards in uniform, Cyrain shruged and headed back to Conor.

"More to drink?" she was already waving for the waitress without awaiting a response.

Conor enjoyed the view while he casually drank his ale. There was a smile to his face, an older one, remembering better times, and easier times. He could already feel the weight of the drink in his head and ordered some bread to help while the women danced. Cy clearly had her youth about her in a way the Lii and himself once had. Perhaps Liitha more than himself, but it was hard to say. Those bonded changed in a way the likes of him had yet to understand.

He missed a lot. There was a youthful breath in the way she moved, like Sahra once did. The way the young did when charmed by Aran, back in the day. Even the Aes Sedai new to their shawls fell into that trap. He was stupid then. He was stupid now, but he was at least cognizant of the fact that he was stupid. He made different and the same mistakes, but at least he now knew he had no one to blame but himself.

Cy wandered back over after the musical set, More to drink? Conor looked at his tankard nearly empty and half a loaf of bread with some to spare still on the table. "Sure. One more couldn't hurt." It would, but it was rare enough to drink with friends these days that he disliked being the mature one at the table. "This one's on me." He signaled for another.

"You dance well. Did you have training or something?"

Posted

she giggled and saw there was more left in her scotch glass so she shot it while waiting on the new drinks to come "nothing else then insipid footwork, gets you eventually" she nudged his leg with the tip of her booth "you know" she said teasingly, if he remembered trainee days that was, she didnt care anymore, she felt happy and giddy. "So whats the plan for the rest of the evening" she looked at him with a coy smile, it was good to be free have your own schedule, but tomorow that might come to an end. Cyrain had no idea how this discipline training would look, but she was sure going to enjoy her time before heading into another training program, oh she was sure hopefully at least she would still have more freetime then as a trainee, but she also had to do patrolls.

Deep down she knew they were rigth she couldnt stay without an aim, and while part of it was boring she did in the end like the yard alternative better then the alternative, besides even if the Aes Sedai could be a tricky lot it was as noble a cause to fight for as any, at least end of they were of use, and not just another head in the ranks of an army or patrolling castlewalls day in and day out. She guessed she could gone the merchant way  but in the end she figured that was only dealing with small crooks and somewhat while nesicary not going to lead to the big adventures, and she knew she would be bored in the end. If only it wouldnt take so long to train to the good levels like Conor, but maybe there was some clues to be had to take some short cuts, time would tell, he seemed a nice enough fella.
