Sometimes even when you've fought your best....

It is with great sadness that I tell you that the Dragon is gone. RJ left us today at 2:45 PM. He fought a valiant fight against this most horrid disease. In the end, he left peacefully and in no pain. In the years he had fought this, he taught me much about living and about facing death. He never waivered in his faith, nor questioned our God's timing. I could not possibly be more proud of anyone. I am eternally grateful for the time that I had with him on this earth and look forward to our reunion, though as I told him this afternoon, not yet. I love you bubba.

Our beloved Harriet was at his side through the entire fight and to the end. The last words from his mouth were to tell her that he loved her.

Thank each and everyone of you for your prayers and support through this ordeal. He knew you were there. Harriet reminded him today that she was very proud of the many lives he had touched through his work. We've all felt the love that you've been sending my brother/cousin. Please keep it coming as our Harriet could use the support.

Jason will be posting funeral arrangements.

My sincerest thanks.

Peace and Light be with each of you,

Wilson

To Catalyst: Never, never loose faith. RJ did not. Harriet hasn't. I haven't. Going through what we have, our faith is only strengthened. Besides, if God didn't exist, we would have never had Jim. We did. God does. Remember my Brother/Cousin, my friend, think of him fondly and glorify God's name.

Editor's Note:

The entire staff of Dragonmount.com would like to extend its most deepest sympathies to Robert Jordan's family. He touched all of our lives in some way and we wish him the rest and peace he deserves. We will be posting information in the near future about where you can send condolences. Please check the News Section for these updates.

With tears in my eyes, I thank you for your words. You devoted your life to all of us in your writing, and there can be no greater gift.

Thank you, sir.

time

opens before him

first breath, first glimpse

shining stars upon first night

blinding sun upon first light

the wheel turns around him

passes before him

passes behind him

around him

above him as

he slips

He turns it around him

and for once gets the full echo

forgets the full echo

forgetful echo

forgetful

forget

echo

lying down at the end of the day

at the end of the life

at the end

he closes his eyes at last

for the last

one last

time

May the last embrace of the Mother welcome you home.

It's a sad time for us, I suspect RJ's having a much better time of it. Don't worry folks, if they screw up Memory of Light we can just have one more thing to look forward to when we hit heaven; I have no doubt he'll be there to greet us. Amen and give honor to a man who fought to the very end.

At times like this words lose all their meaning, I could send my deepest condolences and try to express my own personal sorrow through them. They would all pale besides a simple hug I wish I could give to all his family and friends. Never the less, here are but a few from me.

He provided me a world that was rich and vivid; a story, I wanted to hear all the way through, but never wanted to end. I would say that is how we all want to be in the end. A rich vivid memory that is always retold but never truly ending. I believe this quite true in Mr. Jordan. He has influenced mine and many other writes and writers to be.

All stories began someplace. Some someplaces are near. Some someplaces are far. This story began right there on a bookshelf not far from where I sleep at night and will continue far out into the world and beyond. You will be missed Robert Jordan, but you will live on forever in each and everyone of us.

RJ has touched more lives than he could possibly imagine, and will be mourned. Condolences to his family, I wish I could come to the funeral and pay my respects in person to him; he has changed my life through his work.

Farewell, Old Friend

Long live the memory of my friend and mentor, James Oliver Rigney Jr., Robert Jordan, though he never knew me, he has influenced me in ways he, and certainly I, never thought possible.

He helped me through rough times of loneliness, helped me pass countless hours, chose my major (English), my goal in life (writing and anything to do with it) and helped me in nearly every aspect of my life. I've read the WoT more than I've seen or read any movie, including Star Wars, Tolkien, or Arrested Development.

I knew it was selfish to want him just freaking finish the series so I could continue to read almost nothing but them, and I felt guilty while my heart went out to him. The dread I felt the first day I walked into a Barnes and Nobles to buy another fantasy series and found out that he was just diagnosed with this terrible ailment is nothing compared to the loss I feel now that we have lost a true treasure.

Forgive me for being long-winded, but in times of trouble, who to go to but complete strangers (though sympathetic ones).

My life won't be the same without you and I thank you for everything you've done for me.

I remember the first time I opened his first Wheel of Time book. I was living in Cali, due to move to Norway and saw his book at the comic shop I worked at. And on a whim decided to buy it. As I started reading I was entrenched in a deep and fantastical world of magic, beauty and nightmares. It sucked me in from the very first chapter. It has been 14 years since I started that first book a fan to the end and am sad that one of the best fantasy writers will no longer be writing. Thank you so much for sharing your world with us!!!!!

My deepest sympathies to the Family and friends of a talented and wonderful man. He has touched so many people in a positive way and so in that way he remains with us forever. The moments will come where on a personal level, the bright shining light of his soul will be missed, but know he lives on always in the hearts of those of us who love his stories, the people he brought to life for us and the world he created.

God bless

I was shocked to see that RJ had passed, just yesterday infact. I am deeply saddened by that reality, and give my sincerest condolences to the loving family he has left behind. When I was young and foolish, his books were the first hook in my mouth to the world of reading, fiction or otherwise. It was his books that gave me an appetite for reading and the ability to find Joy in the simple act of reading a real book.

I only hope that he had accepted the freely offered gift of salvation from Jesus, so that he may now rest in his arms, because that is the only way. God willing he did, but it won't be known to me until the end.

Thank you, RJ, for giving me the desire to read books, I learned more then I ever imagined from the books I read afterward (where as I once trusted others to tell me truth and believed them blindly).

His dance has ended, he has awakened from the Dream.

May you always find water and shade, RJ.

The world is less, now that he is gone; but where he goes, he will shine brighter than ever before.

And the legacy he leaves behind is a very good one.

Condolences to his immediate family; as well as the extended family of countless readers he has brought joy to over the years...

May the Dragon rest well.

Haven't really been able to think of much else today other than this. Robert Jordan made quite an impression on my life and I can't help but feel that one of my personal heroes is gone. My condolences to the Rigney family.

Rest in peace...

A creator of worlds, a story teller is no longer with us.

My condolances to the Friends and Family of Robert.

The Wheel of Time took me away from comics and into the world of books.

Thank you Dragon.

Even though I only came to read the books about a year and a half ago, I'm still shocked and deeply saddened by this tragic news. Even though he is no longer with us in body, he will always be there in spirit, never forget that. To Harriet and family, I know he's always going to be watching over you, and he'll find ways to talk to you, even after death. My most sincere condolences to you all.

I don't know specifically what you believe in when it comes to signs from beyond, but I'm telling you this as a medium to my own grandmother, he'll talk to you, he'll send signs. I'm fully expecting him to send you a feather and beautiful flowers when you have the funeral. No widow's weeds. I don't think he'll see you as a widow, and I hope you take some strength in that.

You can rest your shoulders now RJ, you no longer need to carry your mountain.

May the Light and Creator shelter you, and you always find water and shade.
