  1. Josanda had only arrived back at the White Tower the night before, traveling in from her homeland in Murandy. It had been a difficult trip this time around, having to bury her father in the grave next to her mother's who had died quite a few years ago. She had brought some coin given to her as a stipend from her Father to pay for the land years ago, now cared for by her older brother. It was also a nice visit. Unlike her, her family had aged and grown, nieces and nephews now married and having kids. It was clear that her siblings kids were not a generation that carried the talent for channeling and it was both a disappointment and a relief. The strangest of any visit was how she still looked nearly as young as she had left while her brother's hairlines were receding. It was a sore topic that could only be joked about when they were all quite drunk. And there had been quite a bit of that, a small joy that Josanda treasured why they still were alive. Her siblings were still quite young, but the work they did was not easy on the body, which is why it had stolen their parents while they were still quite young. So she helped ease it, on the White Tower's dollar. Enough that they would be comfortable but not enough to be greedy with. Josanda spent enough time travelling to know the dangers of greed. She took effort to look presentable this morning. Her wild curls softened with oils gifted to her by another Brown one year on her raising anniversary. They remembered these things, a long list of raising dates to their Ajah in a book grown old and tattered, new pages added every year, though less in recent years. It was a kind gesture of thoughtful gifts, and a unique tradition that she appreciated. It helped the Ajah feel more aware of each other despite how they get lost so easily in books. She made a trip down to the Warder's Yard to visit friends and check in on the state of affairs. The Brown Halls were filled with library notes and she knew that eventually she would be joining them, but she needed to hear joy, swords and Tower rumors. Often best collected in the Yard or the Accepted Quarters. It did not take long before she found a familiar face that had helped many times in the yard. This time he was practicing on his own, meaning his trainer was not around or he was not far helping another. "I see you still have yet to grow facial hair." (Ooc: Shifting over an old thread and will open up for any others..)
  2. Name: Josanda Avriny Age: 48 Place of birth: Murandy Physical Description: Wild, curly brown hair and eyes of blue and green; she is short, though not as short as a Cairhien, and holds similar energy to as a Novice when it comes to gathering knowledge and information. There are often ink stains on her hands and a leather book bound and carried with he satchels. Personality: She carries the youth of her age, newly raised to the Brown Ajah, Josanda wants nothing more than to explore the world and learn of all the things within it. Notes and letters in horrible handwriting, she returns to the White Tower frequently to update the current state of affairs and information long overdue of updating. From shifting rivers, people of power, and Eyes and Ears of rumors that spread in different areas, it's a wonder she has not yet been caught in the grasp of the White Cloaks. Character History: Youngest Daughter of a horse farmer, nobility and education a long distant whisper never to be part of her world. Mud and hay and handmade paints; Josanda loved her simple life knowing little to nothing more. How could she? Life passed by with simplicity until one fateful night a woman and her companion came to her little family farm because of a lame horse. A woman from the White Tower, dressed in fancy clothes and a book with scribbles and stories of a world beyond. It brought a thirst for the world. It was her first taste of what life could be, along with the promise of training as she, too, could one day become Aes Sedai. rising in the ranks Josanda's learning curve within the White Tower was stark, but her thirst to learn long outweighed the challenges of being of age to join the White Tower and having no knowledge of how to read, write, or most basic skills outside of a kitchen or barn. As no chore felt like a punishment, she charmed and challenged her teachers and as the written word opened a whole world to her, it was difficult to slow her down. three arches At 27 Josanda entered the Arches. She was tested on her Intentions, Knowledge, and the temptations of Power. Young as she was, she took to the Arches only a few months before the fall of the White Tower. testing her mental Merrilor Update: The fall of the White Tower and the transition to Merrilor was chaotic and an adventure that Josanda still found difficult to describe. With the Final Battle over, and extensive attention to the younger generation in hopes of refilling the tower ranks, the loss of the Tower itself along with much of what made the Aes Sedai who they were made the transition incredibly difficult for most. Though Josanda was young, she certainly was not influenced by the changes and was not challenged by them either. Much of what made the White Tower who they were became lost as tradition no longer held the same meaning and those able to swear by their Oaths made the concept of Raising even more of a gray area. To the best of their intentions, Josanda remained in her Accepted Bands until she was 29, and later adopted a more universal student attire that represented the changes in their structure. She remained a student until 33. Not the first to complete her training under the watchful Aes Sedai eye, but one of the many of the former generation to be among the first to take on the Aes Sedai title without the binding oaths. aes sedai-hood Merrilor Update: While there is still a childishness in Josanda, what was left of the Aes Sedai felt the teachings of their ranks did little to hinder her light and heart for knowledge and only time and experience could teach her what a lesson in the classrooms could not. What she knew of the Brown Ajah, and how those who once studied the ancient texts and the world around them, Josanda felt the world was ripe with new information and experiences that could only be found at the beginning of a new Age. Adopting many of their techniques, and requesting additional learning from those who were still Oathsworn to the formal Ajah, Josanda knew that had the Ajah remained intact it was the shawl she would have worn. Two years she learned under the older Aes Sedai before embarking on her first travels back to Murandy. An assigned guardsman from the Ebon Vanguard as she had not yet felt ready to take on a personal Warder, and for 13 years she has traveled and returned, still maintaining an exuberance for knowledge as she had before entering the White Tower. Taking on the task of cataloging many of these changes, especially the changes in geography, flora, and cultures, Josanda set off into the world as a Cartographer. Returning to Merrilor with her findings frequently and to help rebuild a Library lost to war.
