  6. Welcome to the Recommended Reading thread! This thread has been designed to answer the age old question of "I've just finish tWoT series, what other series should I pick up now?". So through the recommendations of DM members, we are able to bring to you a complied list of series and stand alone novels which you might enjoy as a fan of the Wheel of Time series.

The thread is listed much like your local Library; it is in alphabetical order, and is categorized by the authors last name. The list is also separated into 2 categories; Adult books, where the authors target audience is 18+, and Younge Adult, where the target audience is 18 or younger. Each author's name is also clickable, and will take you directly to that author's official website (or Wikipedea if no offical site is available) so you can read a description of the books and also find out what other books the author has written.

Please enjoy and remember that the list is constantly being updated, so check back often if you need something to read!

Quick link - the below will take you to the start of the labeled category.

    Adult Book List

    Younge Adult Book List

So, you want to recomend a Series or Author thats not on the list? Heres what you have to do.

All members are encouraged to reply to this thread and request an author be added; please remember that the aim of this list is to include books which are similar or as enjoyable as the Wheel of Time series, so please stick to the Fantasy or Sci-Fy genre. The information needed will be:

    1. Authors name (ie: Robert Jordan)

    2. Series Title (ie: Wheel of Time)

    3. Current Books in order in the series or stand alone

    4. Target Audience (ie: Younge Adult or Adult)

    5. New book release date.

Please note that if all the info isn't included, the series will not be added to the list until all info is given; this is to make the process as fast and easy as possible. Once a submission is added, I will be deleting the request post to keep this thread nice and organized.

Also, if you see a mistake, notice a series which has had a new book added to it, or know the release date of an upcoming book; please reply to this thread with the correct information

  7. thanks Crael & Drekka

okay so we rented movies over the weekand.

How to Train your Dragon i suprisingly liked. Toothless reminded my of my cat (and Stitch from Lelo & Stitch), i seriously think Dreamwork must have used him as a character study for this movie. so that of course made me like the movie that much more  the story line was kinda cool, it was different for sure. i can't see why their doing a sequel, and i probably wont watch it. still i give it a 7 1/2 out of 10.

Why did i get married TOO didn't expect the movie to end the way it did, and was slightly miffed by it as well. can't say it was as good as the 1st, but i guess it coulda been worse. 5 outta 10.

we're watchign Ironman 2 tonight  yes i have yet to see that movie which got such awesome reviews :laugh:

  8. On to book four of the Harry Potter series, The Goblet of Fire. Noticing a lot of differences now, and I worry about the upcoming HBO Series based on the G.R.R. Martin books. How much will be cut or changed to fit production on the screen? It reminds me of the tv series based on The Sword of Truth books. I know there are a lot of haters on here but the books were sooo much better than the Legend of the Seeker show. In the Harry Potter case I'm not sure the differences really hurt but what if they screw too much with Game of Thrones? Is this series a reprodction of the written story or will it be loosely based on it instead? Just don't want to see the story ruined by producers and directors.

wait until you get to The Half Blood Prince. if you think there were differences in the movie vs book for GoF, HBP will be painful. very much so

the good thing abotu a series on HBO versus a movie is that there is much more time to get alot more things on screen. i have alot more faith in HBO getting it right than i ever had in Waner Bros with the Percy Jackson series or the remaining tDH's for HP.

  9. i'm reading two books at once.

i'm half way through "Feast for Crows" by GRRM , but bubba just started it and has highjacked the book from me. i'll get it back once he's done with it mostlikely and will finish it in time to go staright to ToM

so, while i'm waitng on the book, i picked up a teen author who writes books that are like crack to me  *hides*

"The Lost Hero" by Rick Riodan i started it last night and i'm already almost 200 pages into it. i love his books and his characters (yes i've read all three kids series)

i tried to find Way of Kings  Walmart no longer sold it  so i shall have to take a trip to Barnes & Noble

i plan on picking up a few other books as well ...

  10. ^^ loved that movie. you shoudl try Atonement with keira as well :)

rented a few movies over the weekand. out of them, i've only watched Chloe so far. it has Liam Neeson, Julian Moore & Amanda Seyfried in it. guys might like it cause of the nudity; but it's about what i expected. a modern day Fatal Attraction (not as creepy though) with a slight twist. i wasn't expecting the twist, so i'll give it a 3/5.

  11. Avatar - yes i've finally seen it.  and OMG its a great film.  i can't say the hype was correct, i think the movie was over-hyped; but still it was a great movie :)

it reminded me of "Ferngully" to tell you honestly.  with a bit of "Return of the Jedi" at the end.

Mystery Team - sucked, it was stupid and not even in a dumb funny way.

Youth in Revolt - meh.  the story line was semi interesting, but again, it wasn't worth renting it.

  12. *grumbles*  not to mention the lack of a battle and the focus one tween angst instead of the real point of the book

    *eyebrow twitches*

and now they get all money hungry and split a book that isn't even that long into two movies.  OoTP and GoF shoudla been 2 movies.  DH's can easily be one

  13. actually, i'll disagree until i'm blue in the face about this and you won't change my opinion; my veiws on Warner Bros nd their treatement of the HP series is that their treating it like a $2 hooker.

if it were to be viewed as seperate from the books then they wouldn't keep the exact title of the books.  movies which are baised on books are supposed to be a visual depection of the book, not where you keep to the concept and then add scenes and switch around the things that happen and how they happen.  the movie HBP was an utter disgrace and failure to the seires.

to say they started blind is giving them an excuse for their failure at living true to the series.  with SS came to the big screen OoTP was about to come out so yes they had plenty of info to get through th first 3 books.  to say they've done well, if you've read the series (especailly with HBP) is wrong.

honestly, i was okay with the movies until HBP, and DH's looks like it will be worse.  trust me, i'll have a page & 1/2 describing why when it comes out.

  14. meh ...  the cartoon is better for sure; but it was a decent adaptaion imo

i didn't like the actors potrayal of some of the characters, but the main element was there.

best i can say is atleast M.Night is doing better with Airbender than Wanrer Bros is doing with Harry Potter.
