  1. Hmm, that might be a bit too basic for even my char then, she's not brilliant by a long shot but she's not so new that she'd cut herself lol .... what do you think Quibby? Is it worth her joining in?

    If you'd manage to cut yourself on your own arrow, i'd be worried for your career as an Archer :P

    As for me, i'll be running a little late i'm afraid, though with good reason ^^;

  2. Saira, still a bit nervous, tried to take in everything at once as soon as she entered the office. She was still a bit caught up when the Commander -- or officer at least, she assumed that much -- had asked his question, but she could gather from the way he was looking at her that she had just been asked something.

    - "Err... Saira, sir. Saira Fujimura, from Kandor."

    She ran her hand through her hair, knowing she'd inherited the appearance of her Illianer mother. Still, she felt this was not the time to dwell on things like that, as she had come here for a reason. Digging up everything her mother had taught her about life as a trader, she took a deep breath and started talking.

    - "Please allow me to get right to the point... As you may know, Kandor, my homeland, has fallen to the Shadow. I wish to hire the Band to drive them out again."

    She fell to her knees then, bowing deeply on hands and feet until her head almost touched the wooden boards. She knew there was no way she could afford to hire a handful of men, let alone an army, with the money she had now. She was intending to play out her full hand, hoping it'd be enough after awakening the man's interest.

    - "I know i am likely unable to afford it, but rest assured i will find a way to repay you. My father and brothers are fighting in the Kandori army, i haven't seen my sister in months... March north, and i will do whatever i can to gather the money. I'll rob and steal it if i have to, but Kandor must be freed."

    At the end of her speech, her voice was trembling with unfaked emotion. This really was the best she could offer -- the best she had to offer -- and the Band basically the only army not tied down by ties to a country where she'd have a shadow of a chance at getting what she wanted. Still bowed, she looked up, hoping he'd accept yet feeling somewhat afraid of the price he might ask.

  3. Due to the night's cool air, and being too dazed to think about the nights events even if she'd been able to, Arienna was able to calmly start arranging her thoughts. She was in a forest, though she could not quite remember getting there. Judging by a small vine of undergrowth entwined around her ankle, and the sharp pain she was feeling whenever she moved her facial muscles, she gathered that she had tripped, and hit her head.

    She wiped her face again, only now really noticing the blood. She groaned again, and tried to get back up to assess the damage, but lost her balance before she could return to a sitting position.

    Taking a couple of deep breaths, she decided to wait a bit longer and allow herself to recover. Her hearing had started to return as well, now having improved to a loud ringing, and along the edges of it she could make out some sounds, though she couldn't make out enough to be able to tell what they were.

    For now, she'd wait a few more minutes. There was nothing else she could do the way things were now anyway.

  4. From the base of an old oak tree, Arienna groaned. Or at least, became aware that she was groaning. A dull throb around her left cheekbone told her that she had just hit her head hard, but the thought fled before she could start to make sense of it. She should try to get up now, probably.

    As she slowly opened her eyes, pushing herself up from the roots she had fallen on, she tried to see where she was. There was grass. Trees too. Many trees... What was that word again? Ah yes, forest. Now, how did she get here again?

    Exhaling, she let herself fall down again, this time on her back, looking up at the star-lit sky. Something wet flowed into her left eye now, but no clouds were overhead. Strange. She absently wiped it off with her hand before inspecting her fingers, red with blood, before looking up again, wondering where the clouds were to have rain fall on her face.

    Her ears felt like there was water in them, half-dazed as she was, and the sounds of the wolves didn't register to her as she kept looking at the stars through the canopy of the big tree. There was a thought, something about a sister, but it was drowning in others before she registered it.

  5. Yeah, most of my characters write themselves, the ones that don't generally get sidetracked in favor of others though.

    I can generally get a good impression writing a bio though. If i manage to write the entire thing in one single go, it's usually a good sign. If i can't for some reason... Well, i rethink the concept and try again ^^;

  6. Yeah, but the main problem is that her intro thread is plot critical to her, not only because it's the very reason she went to the Band for help but also because it's the first impression she'd be getting of them.

    With that in mind, i can't really say how she'll react or even how she'd view the Band as a whole. It all depends on the thread too much :S

  7. Hmm... I don't know, it depends on my Muse.

    Usually when making a post i recall her personality, what she's like, her history... Basically what i know about her. What she did in previous threads works as well. Then i look at the situation she's currently in, and get a 'feel' for what she'd be likely to do.

    This is different from actual planning, since at times the answer is really unexpected. This is the part i love about RPing, since it makes my characters actual people rather than puppets.

    So yeah... It depends too much on what they'd be likely to do. They could either fall in love, get into an argument or start a sparring match, and i really have no way of telling what's going to happen until the situation actually comes up (though usually i can get a pretty good indication of what they're likely to do ^^; )

  8. Personally, i just stick to the reasoning that a Warder can afford to spend all day training on sword combat, whereas an AS would be training her OP skills.

    In this case, i suppose you could say the OP Skill of an Aes Sedai is her WS of using her weapon of choice, Saidar (or Saidin for Asha'man)

    Asha'man have a higher WS cap because they're men, and tomboyish female Warders are hard to find in Randland. Even in the Books, the times they Bonded it was either to an Aes Sedai (which isn't allowed here) or to their own wives, which had no benefit whatsoever save to know how they were doing. One of the Asha'men even confirmed this by saying "A man is supposed to know if his wife's okay" or something along those lines.

    Dreadlords... make sense having 10 WS. I mean, what are they going to Bond, a Trolloc?

    Progress:

  10. Though the line of refugees originally leaving Malkier was moving slowly, things began running more smoothly once Jerinia and her mother had left the Borderlands, heading further south. The line had subsided into several pockets of refugees that had started spreading out to other countries they had relatives in, and the two women joined up with one such group heading for Murandy. They wouldn't be traveling with them that far, of course, but then again most of the people in the current group wouldn't.

    Still, after several days of walking with whatever posessions they managed to salvage before leaving, this particular group passed through Tar Valon, which was where they said their farewells to the others. Jerinia didn't seem to notice much of what was going on in the Northlands, she believed her father would beat back the Trolloc hordes and be waiting for her when she became a full Aes Sedai.

    Jerinia marveled at the tall white tower that had given the White Tower its name. Sure, in her eyes it couldn't light a candle (no pun intended) to the Seven Towers of the Malkieri capital, though in its defense it should be said that she was somewhat biased about the matter herself...

    She made her way to the witing line, shifting her balance from one foot to the other as she tried to contain her enthousiasm long enough to not try to plow through the appealers. There were many different people, it seemed. Some were sick, or cripple, and came for healing. Others were nobles with fancy clothing, maybe seeking advice. A few other girls her age were there as well, probably to become Aes Sedai themselves.

    After a couple of hours of trying to look past the waiting line, guessing the reasons why the other people present would be at the White Tower and a large number of 'I Spy' games with her mother, the two eventually made their way to the gates, where one of the guards was writing down names and reasons for the visit. Her mother told the man that they'd come for Jerinia to be tested, to which he nodded and checked an unseen box on his paper.

    Unfortunately, the girl had been restraining her enthousiasm and excitement for a couple of hours now. As soon as the guard had dismissed them, she darted forward to the first woman she had seen. Having never seen an Aes Sedai up close, she failed to recognise the shawl around the woman's shoulders, the ring on her finger or the ageless look on her face as she looked down, raising an eyebrow at the person who had grabbed her sleeve all of a sudden.

    - "S'cuse me miss, but where do i go to become an Aes Sedai?" ;D

  11. Makes sense to me ^^

    Figured i'd ask, since although it wouldn't make a whole lot of difference to a single AS, when linked it could make previously 'harmless' weaves like Pitfall, Freeze or even Dry scale up to downright murderous levels.

  12. Allright, here's me again with yet another technical question concerning Aes Sedai and the OP in general ^_^.

    Please have a look at this weave i'm using as an example. The requirements are listed below:

    Amplify Voice  -- Air: 2  -- Fire: 2 -- Skill: 7

    Now, my character has an 8 in Air and Fire, and a Skill score of 33. My question is, that since she has 4x the requirements for the weave, would she be able to make that weave 4x as strong? Or loud, in this case?

    I suppose a rule covering the weaving of multiple weaves at once would also cover this one, but i've been unable to find it thus far ^^;

  13.   Announcement Board

    Child Boards: WT Structure and Outlines

      The Great Hall

    Child Boards: Secret Whisper Hole

    That's what i can see... As for the Roll Call:

    Jerinia Zaralyn

    Novice (pending Quiz results that is)
