  1. Younger than I'd have hoped... bolder than most would be.  Not always a good mix but she had the moxy to rise this far so perhaps she's not without merit.  Must not judge too quickly.  "Know?  Light I know know as much about what's going on here as you probably know about what's happening in that fishing village I spent a month in a while back."  She shakes her head.

"I keep my eyes and ears out in the world, not inside the Tower.  I trust my sisters to handle our affairs here." Miya hesitated and reassesed the situation Just how bad have things gotten that you're scared to tell me?.  "So, things aren't going well for us... I've seen sketches of the boy and his banner,"  she shakes her head.  "Even heard he has himself an army."

She paused, letting the girl wonder just what her opinion of a male channeler having an army was and then attempted to take the girl's mind in another direction, "I have to say I'm surprise to hear that Mother was raised from the Red though... but then again, perhaps I don't know everything there is to know about the situation."

She wondered if the First Selector would consider the resource she had in the sister sitting across from her.  Granted she wasn't the sister she was 50 years ago, but then again, perhaps that was what could make her of greatest use.  "Whatever has occured I'm prepared to help in whatever way I can, I have no intention of leaving the tower again for some time to come... perhaps not until the boy calls us to fight in Tarmon Gaidon, but the wheel weaves as the wheel wills... who can say anything for certain these days?"

  2. I'd love to have Miya take a go at it.  Being older and stubborn it might be fun to have her come up upon you and an accepted trying to work through your block only to have her decide that scaring the pants off the poor novivce is getting her no where.  After all, even if you do channel when you're scared it doesn't build your confidence in yourself and thusly only re-enforces your block.

Miya might compare it to learning to ride a horse when you're scared of the large animals.  You might hurt yourself accidentally in your fear of riding a horse if you're not first convinced that the horse won't hurt you and eased into the saddle.

My suggestion would be an rp as follows (if you're up for it) ...

    *  You're practicing with someone and getting the crap scared out of you when Miya walks by.

    *  Miya decides the accepted who is trying to help you is a "foolish child" and pretty much runs off with you sending the girl to go scrub pots because Miya thought the accepted was getting too much joy out of making your novice scared.

    *  Miya then tells you that she's going to help you break that block of yours and she proceeds to take you to lunch, the library, and generally has a great day … occasionally talking to you about what you feel when you are being scared, what you think about, etc.  Then at the end of the day she puts you to bed saying ... "tomorrow I'm going to help you break that block of yours."

    *  Days go on like this, over and over… during each day, Miya uses the op in front of your character doing good works (no matter how simple... evne pouring tea for someone) but never points it out verbally.

    *  Ideally you eventually would start to wonder what the hell she's doing to help you break your block and when you finally ask she'd point out that it’s the duty of Aes Sedai to serve all - great and small, meek and bold, powerful and weak and that your fear of using the one power to do something other than help people is completely unfonded because NO use of the one power by an Aes Sedai is without reason and our oaths require that those reasons are of the best intention.

Instead of scaring the block out of her, Miya would want to try to help her come to understand her real fear and to believe that becoming Aes Sedai will make her fears null and void.  Ideally this will help her get past the block and tie her tightly to the tower.

Oh yea, and she won’t mention it but she’ll be gunning for you being tied to her and thusly the blues too *winks shamelessly*

    Thoughts?

  3. Inwardly Miya repeated the girl’s name about 30 or so times to be sure she would not forget it in the future.  She hoped that would be enough.  The whole thing made her want to sick up as badly as the poor girl probably wanted to with the raking over the coals she was being given - difference is the girl could and Miya could not.

Watching the child write she was given pause.  A thief?  Light she has the hands of a scribe!  If she’s a petty thief then I’m the Amyrlin Seat herself!  Light… perhaps she was a con artist of some kind?  I’ve seen the type who falsify documents to steal… Hmm, perhaps.  “Very adequate penmanship child.  You should be happy I am not a brown or you would never see the light of day in free hours again, I’m sure… what with all the books they‘d have you copying.”

Leaning back in her chair, her calm returning to her she continued, “Take up a book and be comfortable.  I want you to read through the books and begin making notes on your conclusions.  What do the author’s observations and assumptions lead you to believe about the legal system in the country of Amadicia?  As a native of that land, feel free to add your own personal views, experiences, or beliefs on the subject.  I also would like to know if you feel that the laws of that country are implemented in such a way to produce justice - why or why not.”

Catching sight of another nearby novice, Miya snapped at the girl causing her to almost leap out of her skin and make a squeeking noise.  A nearby brown made a ’shhhh’ sound at the child for her error.  “I require a large glass of milk, slightly warmed from the kitchens and if a Brown tries to stop you from bringing it in here you just tell them it’s for me and for LIGHT’S SAKE don’t spill any.”

The girl bobbed a curtsey and said quickly, “Yes, Aes Sedai.”

Turning back to Serey, Miya smiled to see the girl already reading.  “Very good.”  She said softly, whether or not that was directed to Serey or the child who was running off half terrified was never made clear.

(( Not sure but maybe this will count as a class for you since I’m making you write up stuff.  Feel free to reply with either what she asked of you… or just ask questions if you need and say you wrote it… whatever is more fun for you and helps develop your character more. ))

  4. "A tavern maid might have found the books with more alacrity."  Miya sighed as the girl reached her.  She's sturdy... very good, but likely prideful... yes I'd bet my best stockings that's it.  The blue tried to look at her passively but, in truth, Miya wanted to know what made the girl tick; after all, knowing a person often helped reveal the truth about their actions both past and future.

"I will have to bring you back here every day for the next week.  Perhaps you're just a slow reader?"  Miya arched an eyebrow questioningly and then continued as if this wasn't the time to agree, disagree or explain.  "Just the same... a week in the library may help you with whatever skills you're lacking."

Reaching down she picked up a quill and opened one of the books.  "Now, let's start with the basics.  At the top of your parchment pen the following - 'Research on Amadician Law and Justice by..." Miya wrinkled her nose.  Light my mind is addled... did the girl tell me her name?  Did I ask it?  Have I forgotten?  I'm gaping like a slack jawed fool!  Must say something…  Miya’s icy exterior flustered only a heartbeat, revealing something more human before she continued, “… your name and rank here in the White Tower and,”  she snapped the final like a lionfish chopping at bloody chum in the water, “...be sure to print neatly I refuse to have a girl working for me whose hand writing looks no better than a fisherman’!”

(( shorter this one since we're working towards more dialogue plus I figured it's a very big deal that her facade broke a bit.))

  5. Miya was sure the novice had to be taking her sweet time... Light!  How much of the morning have I wasted waiting on that girl? and was just about to send a servant to look in after her  when there was a knock at the door.  The old woman quickly found her smile again.

Easing herself away from her desk she decided that standing would be the best way to meet the girl.  If she sees how hard it is for me to get around I'll never have her respect.  Time to see what stuff you're made of Amadician.  "Enter."  She called out clear and authoritatively.

As the door opened and the child entered the room, Miya marched towards her with gray braids swaying this way and that, each one ringing a tiny copper bell attached to it’s end softly as she moved.

Miya did not stand particularly tall and so what would have been pleasantly plump or healthy on a taller woman came off as fat on her.  Still, she wore her weight well enough to not appear a slob, her dark blue wool dress helping to lessen the appearance of her indulgences.  “Well, it’s about time you arrived child!”  She scolded coldly.

“I was very nearly ready to find another girl who might better appreciate the gift of my time and company.  Come, come… let’s be off now,”  As she passed by Serey to exit her room, she looked her up and down quickly and clicked her tongue in disapproval.  “Is that what passes for novice white these days?”  She sighed shaking her head.  “When we’re done here you’ll take yourself straight to the Mistress of Novices and show her your ‘novice grays’ and ask if there isn’t some way for you to be taught how better to keep your dress.  For Light’s sake child, have pride in your position, you’re now a novice of the White Tower not a common village maid.”

Miya knew well that the dress was fine enough, hers had gotten far worse at times when she was in novice white but, the added stress of a trip to the Mistress of Novices would likely do a great deal for setting the tone of this meeting.

Firstly, it would remind the child that she was an Aes Sedai and that there would be consequences to her actions should she behave poorly.  A fair warning in Miya’s estimation; perhaps that would prevent the outburst from occurring at all.

Secondly it would make the child tense and scared and if she were inclined to emotional outbursts… perhaps it would happen all the quicker and then they could move forward if Miya thought she had the proper mettle.

Lastly, if the child was a foul thief and rightly convicted perhaps something of her true temperament would be seen in how she responded to authority figures.  Not that a knowing a thief couldn’t prove useful… just because one had stolen things in the past didn’t make them a dark friend after all.  Why, some of her best eyes and ears had questionable pasts and professions.  One could never tell when a thief might actually come in handy and prove a powerful resourceful member of your ajah should she ever make the shawl.

Entering the library Miya walked to the section of the library that contained books on the laws of kingdoms around the world.  There were books here on all the current nations, of course, but also on those who were long gone and forgotten.  A treasure trove that Miya had once spent a lot of time looking through as a novice but had found, during her time as an Accepted, that she didn’t really care too much for.  There was a large difference between adherence to law and doing the work of Justice… sometimes the two just weren’t the same thing.

Miya found a comfortable chair near a table and settled down.  Looking to the girl she took in her features a bit more closely this time, making sure to stare ate the location of her scar for a bit before speaking.

“I require some books brought to me child and you will not dawdle like you did this morning, in bringing them to me.”  Reaching into her waist pouch Miya produced a list and handed it over to the child.

“The Law of the Land - a review of Amadician Law” by Narrin Bental

“By the Light - An overview of the Children of the Light”  by Lars Heflin

    “Midland Justice” by Willa Ness

“We will start with those… oh and be sure to bring two quills and parchment from the front desk with you.  We’ll be making notes as we go.”

  6. Just reading through old posts - is this still outstanding?  If you haven't done this yet I have a good suggestion:

Ideally in 3 months this pc will get foretelling as a talent (assuming everything goes the way I want) and it would be HOT to foretell something cryptic about you "losing half your sight" (nods to jordan) to gain "sight of a key to the Aes Sedai surviving Tarmon Gaidon.”  We’d want this to be heard by several sitters to make my plan (below) reasonably work.

What the foretelling would be about... what if while you're out and about in nearby villages doing eyes and ears work, you're attacked and lose an eye in the tussle.  During the fight you're saved by an aged wilder with great skill in the power (who makes the mistake of healing you and thusly the yellows can do nothing for the missing eye when you get home) and this causes you to come back to the Tower with a bee in your bonnet to get her accepted into the novice books in repayment for her having saved your life.  After all, if you (a skilled sister) could be saved by a wilder too old for the books... perhaps such women would be useful to the Light forces during Tarmon Gaidon… right?

You present your idea to the blues and there is probably a big hubbabalu about it.  I'll back it as Miya because of the foretelling (rather useless to fight a foretelling) and we'll go to the hall as the blues to push for it thusly bringing us more in line with the books.

    Thoughts?

  7. Miya finished her chicken just in time to hear the assertive knock, clearly the First Selector had decided to come by tonight and personally.  She had assumed the woman would summon her, perhaps after a day or so, but a visit tonight meant one of two things… A) she was needed for something important - not likely they needed her over any other sister at this particular hour, but possible.  B) The First Selector was young or in need of support among her peers and would be looking for Miya’s stamp of approval as a sister of age and no small amount of strength in the power.  Very well child, let’s get a look at you.  Not the first woman younger than myself that I’ve heeded the word of… let’s just hope that my fellow sisters did not choose a slack jawed fool as our leader.

She decided shouting that the door was open would seem… impolite and so she braced herself on the arms of her chair and rose as smoothly as her old bones would let her.  Noises came from her joints and warm flashes of pain too.  Gritting her teeth beneath her closed lips, she refused to look strained when she reached the door to open it.

“Good Evening Sister.”  She greeted her fellow blue as she opened the door.  Just to the left and slightly behind what must be the First Selector was the young Amadician girl.  How had the girl taken the discovery of her secret?  What made this one tick?  What she guilty or had justice never been served in her case.  “Please,”  She said looking back to the First Selector, “Come inside and have a seat, don’t mind the mess, I’m just settling back in.”

As Serena passed she looked to the child again.  “It’s late.  You need rest to make it through the day tomorrow, however, I’ll need help in the library tomorrow.  I suppose you’ll do as well as any other girl in white to help.  Straight here after you break fast unless you have a class, of course, then come after your classes are done… understood?”  She waited for the girl to give her statement of understanding and then dismissed her as though she were no more important than any of the other hundred or so servants working in the White Tower.

Closing the door on the girl, Miya turned back to the First Selector.  “I hadn’t expected you to stop by so soon.  I would have had my reports prepared for you by tomorrow afternoon - I do hope that everything has been well here in my absence?”  She expected the answer would be not entirely positive, what with all the madness in the world today but surely it couldn’t be that bad here at the Tower… right?

  8. The scent of a room that has been closed up for many long years, perhaps decades, will assault Serey's senses.  Looking around she can see a thick layer of dust on just about everything in eye sight; it's clear your nose didn't fail you, this woman has been gone a very long time indeed!

As for decor - maps covered in small colored pins line the walls, treasures from various places around the world are stacked in corners like someone stopped by just to set them down in storage and leave again.  The furniture, while well crafted, is all very simplistic and without adornments... made for function as opposed to fashion.

"There's a small table there to your left child, place the tray on that if you would."  The old woman's voice comes from behind a changing screen near the back of the room by a large four poster bed made of dark wood.  You hear sniffing and a very un-Sedai like growl of a tummy.  "Chicken... good."

The table is cluttered with books and scrolls which Serey is forced to find a place for.  The books are on a variety of topics such as laws and traditions of various countries as well as political climates of different regions of the world since before the Aiel War.

As you set the books and scrolls aside, Serey will get a better look at the gnarled wooden staff that the older sister was walking in with, sitting against the wall.  The wood is a very dark color and all up and down the walking stick there is some kind of writing etched into it though, it’s not likely something that Serey’s ever seen before.

The plump elderly Aes Sedai appears from behind her screen dressed in a simple but well made blue dress.  Her thinning gray hair remains in a mass of braids dangling from her head, each tipped in copper bells that tinkle when she moves about.

It would seem, as the old lady goes to her desk, that perhaps she’s forgotten there is another person in the room.  The Aes Sedai picks up a quill, some parchment and begins to write a note by the dim guttering light of a candle that is nearly burnt down to the plate it’s sitting on.  Then, as if the woman was reading her thoughts she speaks without looking up, “You may hold off on that bath water, knowing the wagging tongues in this tower I’ll have offended someone if I don’t get this taken care of first.”

Rolling the note up she seals it with a blue wax seal and embraces saidar in order to use a weave of air to cool it quickly.  Note in hand she walks briskly over to Serey and then pauses, narrows her eyes and reaches a hand out to brush aside her bangs.  “Hmmm.”  She says and then let’s Serey’s bangs fall over the “T” without another mention of it.

“Four doors down on the right, knock politely and wait until a count of 100.  If there is no reply after that… bring the note back to me.  If there is a reply, give the letter to the Sister who lives in that room.  My name should be known but, just in case it’s not you may tell her that Miya Kiyoshi Sedai sends the message.”  The old woman then goes over and sits down in front of her chicken and begins to eat, expecting full well to be obeyed just as she was before.

(( oc:  I figure Miya isn’t sure who the ajah head is at the moment so she didn’t give a name… but she knows what quarters are given to the highest in rank so… hence why you were sent to a room not a person.  The Sedai in charge is Serena and she should be joining us soon.  Feel free to post your reactions to what I put here and wandering down to her room to give her the note.  BTW, awesome mad writing skills! I loved your post!  ))

  9. Oooo very dangerous cause but perhaps it could lead to some good rp.  Just remember to keep your options open too, you never know what will develop as you play your character more!

Hey Carly, maybe we can host a blue ajah class?  I'm sure it's one Serey might be interested in taking and who knows maybe others too?

  10. Thank you for the welcome back here on the rp side Jade.  For those who didn't meet miya during her brief time as a novice in the tower in 2007, I also played Telcia, Ragan, Espara and an assortment of others from other divisions.  I hope I get a chance to get to know those of you who never met me and to all you oldbies: I look forward to rp'ing with you again soon!

  11. Mule moved at a slow pace down the cobblestone streets leading towards the bridge into the city.  She’d renamed the gray mare ‘mule’ because the blasted thing was more stubborn these days than she ever dreamed of being.  Still she was a sturdy mount and had been with her for more years than a horse had a right to live.  The horse was tired, she could see that, and so she patted the beast gently and whispered, “Almost home now girl.  Just a little further and we’ll both get that rest I’ve been promising you for the last few months.”

Reaching downward, Miya Kiyoshi scratched beneath her blue socks and smiled at the dimming light of day.  It was like coming full circle… left at dawn the first time she came here and came back in the evening.

The jarring walk of Mule seemed to pound on her whole skeleton as she pulled herself up straight into her saddle.  Looking up the path and onto the bridge she could make out the pure white tabards of the Tower Guard and, if she had been younger, she might actually have teared up; not just because of how beautiful it all was but because it seemed as though she and Mule had come to the end of all their wondrous adventures the ones she spent the first part of her life dreaming about undertaking.  Perhaps, she considered, she would never again leave the Tower on such a journey.  Closing her eyes tight she tried not to think of that… Fool thing to think, I will make it to the blight & stand for the end!  Even if they have to prop up my bloody corpse against a tree and tie a sword into my hand… I will be there!

Maybe it was fair, in the way of things, that she first rode out of Tar Valon when she should have been at the end of a human lifetime and now… she returned nearing the end of an Aes Sedai’s.  Beginnings and endings… am I here just for the end or could this really be the start of something else?  How old was the oldest sister when she passed?  How many more years might I have left?  Need to ask a Brown.  Light but my hip burns…

Over the years she’d helped countless people, hundreds of villages, advised lords and ladies, lost three warders to age and even to the Aiel War; what hadn’t she given to the world?  What more would she give if only the Creator gave her more time to do it?  It was galling to have such a able mind but a slowly dying body.  It seemed wrong that energy and spryness were wasted on the young and foolish when the aged and wise must waste away.

A guard saluted to her as she passed and loudly announced, “Aes Sedai” as she passed.  She nodded to the young man and watched as he beamed.  Clearly he was newer to his title than her socks were to her feet.  Bah, was she the only bloody thing aging?  Looking down at her ever loyal horse she smiled gently, “Well, I suppose I’m not the only one eh, girl?”  Mule wickered as if she were answering the question with a sarcastic reply.  Miya chuckled and again patted her neck.

Most recently she’d been in Mayene.  What possessed her to go there she couldn’t really say, perhaps it was the food… or just a wander lust that told her to keep going in a direction and once she got there she simply couldn’t go any further.  Whatever the reason, she was glad she had gone the whole way rather than stopping at the river and sailing northward as she’d debated on doing.  No matter how things worked out here in the tower now, she’d been out and see the ocean and the spine of the world and everything between.

“Aes Sedai.”  one guard said and then another.  Miya had barely noticed her horse passing through the city and coming up to the gates but certainly, riding into the shadow of the tower itself, there was no missing that!  Icy calm she rode directly to the stables and let a boy there take Mule but not before she instructed him to rub the horse down for an extra lengthy amount of time and feed her a nice red apple if one could be found in this blasted weather.

Marching her way into the Tower, gnarled oak staff and travel bags in hand, she paused only a moment to admire the entryway before heading straight down for the Blue Ajah quarters.  As she walked she remembered fondly touring the hallway naked as a jaybird and how embarrassed she’d been.  She could also remember when she had been given her staff.  At the time she resented how twisted the old thing was … not pretty in the least or tall and impressive like other sisters had; instead her short staff was more like a cane and she imagined that someone who appeared much like she did now, once first crafted it.

“You there, girl!”  A nearby novice bobbed a curtsey as quickly as she could, clearly started from her daydreaming.  Oh but that feels good…  “Obviously if you have time to gawk at the hallways you have time to run some errands for me.  I need an ice cold glass of milk and something to eat brought to this room straight away, then you’ll see water fetched for my bath.  Hurry along girl, I’m not getting any younger.”  Miya shook her head and turned to her door before the novice had even finished her curtsey.

  12. Oh so very glad to have you considering Blue.  I'll be in touch via pm.  As soon as I've got all my returning requirements done my old hag of a blue will be happy to torture... er... convert your character to the blue side of the force... er... tower.

Have you given any thought to what your cause might be and what sorts of rp possibilities you'll have with it once you've been raised to the shawl?  Always good to start thinking ahead!

  13. (( As part of my requirements to play a second aes sedai, here are my three oaths done as a dream that my character had in the course of her travels back to the white tower.  This isn't an rp but a dream of a past occurance meant to give some insight into my character.  Thanks. ))

“Miya Kiyoshi, you are summoned to be tested for the shawl of an Aes Sedai, the light keep you whole and see you safe.”  The mistress of novices didn’t wait for Miya as she made her way out of the room.  Miya hurried to keep pace.

An oval ring stood in the middle of the room that glittered in the light that seemed to stand unsupported. One Aes Sedai from each Ajah was standing in a ring around the room and the Mistress of Novices raised her voice saying “Attend.” all the sisters gathered to them and then she began a line of questioning.

“You come in ignorance Miya Kiyoshi, how would you depart?”

It took everything she could muster not to tremble with excitement and to emulate the women she so looked up to, “In Knowledge of Myself.”

“For what reason have you been summoned here?”

This had to be the single most amazing moment of her life up to this point.  She could feel the shawl on her shoulders even now, imagine it’s weight and the feel of it’s frilly edges against her upper arms.  She held herself taller, imagining even now that she was already Aes Sedai and how she would look to the people of the world with such distinction attached to her name.

    “To be tried”

“For what reason should you be tried?”

“So that I may learn whether I am worthy.”  I am… aren’t I?  What if… what if someone could fail now?  What would I do?  Where would I go?  For so many years I’ve wanted this… eat, breathed, and sweat the love of this place - how on earth would I survive if somehow I failed now?

“For what would you be found worthy?”

Miya couldn’t help but smile as she said, “To wear the shawl.”

She could remember each weave as if they were burned into the inside of her eyelids, each one more intricate and difficult as you could possibly imagine - made more so by the distractions she faced.  Would it ever be this hard in the real world?  One after another Miya spun the colorful threads until at last she set the final one and everything was silent.

    ---

She was exhausted.  The walk to where she’d gone now was a blur.  She knelt down on the cold stone floor and fell upon herself in the silence.  Despite the healing of the bug bites and minor bruises she just couldn’t shake the bone weariness from herself.  She’d done it - completed the 100 weave successfully and was suppose to spend the evening in contemplation.  The weight of this achievement was much more than she had expected.  She had supposed that she’d be dancing after being successful but all her mind kept coming back to was the question of her worth.

How would she serve all?  What would the legacy of Miya Kiyoshi be?  How would historians remember her to future generations of Aes Sedai?  These questions boiled down to the last burning question in her mind.  She’d told herself she’d settled on Blue, it seemed logical, but if she was going to change her mind this was the final moment in which she could do it.

Green.  She could return to the borderlands and avenge her brother and fight along  side the men and women whom she once called family and countrymen.  They would sing her praises, make her feel as welcome as any queen… she knew this, and there would be warders to join her on this journey … but was war what she wanted to commit her life to?  Yes, it was the duty of all borderlanders but she wasn’t a borderlander any more … she was of Tar Valon now… more specifically, the White Tower.  Her ties to those people were no more strong now than to those in Tear.

No.  She would not make her future in a tomb.  She would fight the shadow another way… perhaps in the hearts of men everywhere.  The grays had made a good case for her to join them.  They spoke about her abilities to be so open and compelling and how that would prove useful in negotiations, treaties, and the upholding of law.

But whose laws?  Burn it all but she couldn’t accept the ways of some people as Justice and right… she just couldn’t.  Yet an Aes Sedai who came in with her own agenda under a flag of negotiations and compromise could do horrible damage - Bonwhin had been a prime example of how an Aes Sedai with a personal agenda might end.

Yes.  Justice was her cause and there was only one place in the white tower for a woman with a cause such as that.  Silently she prayed that the Light and Creator would send her the wisdom and strength to do good in the world with her great power and that she would be remembered one day as a truly wise and important member of the White Tower & the world.

Again things seemed to blur together and she found herself standing before the Amyrlin Seat.  I was so in awe of you … I remember the day you died.  I remember the funeral… For a moment the room wasn’t there and a rainy court yard full of people dressed in white and shawls replaced it.

Shaking her head Miya found herself before the Amyrlin again.  “Who comes here.”

“Miya Kiyoshi.”  It took everything she had not to curtsey and add ‘mother’ to the end of her statement, but that was not how it was done during ceremony.

“For what reason do you come.”

“To swear the three oaths and thereby claim the shawl of an Aes Sedai.”

“By what right do you claim this burden?”

“By right of having made the passage, submitting myself to the will of the White Tower.”

“Then enter, if you dare, and bind yourself to the White Tower.”

Miya couldn’t remember crossing the distance between the Amyrlin and herself but the feel of the oath rod in her hands was as clear as a spring day.  The smooth texture, the weight, how cold it felt and what it did to her skin as she spoke… horrible, exquisite, and spiritual.

“Under the light and by my hope of salvation and rebirth, I vow that I will speak no word that is not true.”  How wonderful it was to make that oath, she couldn’t help but smile through the shock of it’s weight upon her body.  The first oath was the one by which most knew the Sisters of the Tower and now, it was hers.

“Under the light and by my hope of salvation and rebirth, I vow that I will make no weapon for one man to kill another.”  She smiled and drew breath as the oath settled and quickly recited the last oath which would bring her decades of work finally come to an end, “Under the light and by my hope of salvation and rebirth, I vow that I will never use the One Power as a weapon except against shadowspawn, or in the last extreme of defending my life, or that of my warder, or another sister.”

“It is half done, and the White Tower graven on your bones. Rise now Aes Sedai and choose your Ajah and all will be done that may be done under the Light.”

    ---

Miya Sedai, sister of the Blue Ajah, sat up from her bedroll on the ground.  There hadn’t been a town close enough to stop in when night had fallen and so she slept right where she‘d been the moment the sun had set.  Perhaps she’d dreamed because of how uncomfortable she was, her mind was wandering… but perhaps it had been something more.

The dream seemed so very vivid, as if it only just had occurred… sadly, that had been nearly three centuries past.  Swallowing hard she eased herself up from the hard earth, grunting in pain as she did so.  It would rain today, her bones screamed it.

Washing her face in a bowl of water, fixing a few of her braids carefully, she regarded the ageless face reflected back at her.  Had the child who was given a shawl that day done all she wanted to do in life?  Now, in her twilight years, could it be possible that time had finally run out on her?

Looking towards the White Tower that loomed in the distance, she contemplated what role she had left to play and the very thing she’d been concerned about all those years ago: what… if anything, she would be remembered for.

  14. Me:  Crotchety/grandmotherly old aes sedai of the Blue Ajah with a love for justice (not law but justice) and being overly blunt - originally from Arafel... something of a stereotypical blue in her likes, dislikes, and behavior.

You:  Room for many types of characters in this pc's past. If you fit any of the following please respond and I'll work out details with you as well as discuss possible future rp opertunities both inside tar valon and out.

Lord or Lady:  This character spent time advising minor nobles so it's possible I advised you, your parents, your grandparents or even your great grandparents and you know of me that way.

Aes Sedai:  Your character could be a Blue Sister!  Obviously this would lead to all manner of ties.  Maybe you're a Red and we've butted heads in the past.  Maybe you're an old aspie of mine or a novice I gave terrible chores to!  If you're very old then maybe we were novices together?  Possibilities abound.

Commoner:  Miya spent quite a bit of time running around village to village helping justice to be served (please note… this is not quite the same as seeing the law upheld.  She wasn’t the sort to undermine the local authorities but she may have stayed in an area a very long time to be sure that justice was done even if the locals didn’t know they weren’t acting in the interest of justice.) so maybe I was there and helped you?  Maybe you or your parents or grandparents were on the wrong end of my hunt for justice?

Other:  You an ogier who may have met an Aes Sedai in her travels?  Maybe you’re of the traveling people and I stayed in your camp one night because you’re just that nice (lol) … maybe you’re a wolf brother who crossed paths with me… I might have helped you out of a pinch with villagers or something?

Veteran of the Aiel War:  As someone who was in the field during the Aiel War… maybe we know each other from the battlefield!  Were you solider or maybe a innocent caught in the chaos?  Maybe you helped me after the death of my warder?

I’m open to other ideas too… just wanted to put them out here while I’m waiting for approval for play.  I hope to hear from you soon!

  15. I think there was only Estel and I.  Estel and I are over at Arie's site right now so, I think blue is empty at the moment.  Sorry Jade.  Figured I'd let you know though so you weren't left guessing.

    Good luck with things here.

    *hugs*

  16. Rumor has it the staff is talking about the suggestions that were made, I'm not going to be completely gone until my fears about no willingness to work with us is confirmed.  I'm going to await announcements tomorrow to see what is being done.  As I keep saying, I'm not totally unreasonable or a jerk, I just wanted to be heard and responded to with regard to what seemed like an unfair situation.  I'm not holding my breath, however.

    *hugs*
