  1. Just as a reminder to all of you, as a Soldier you play with approximately 1/3 of your OP scores. I'll allow it to go up to 1/2 if thats what it takes for your character to form a fireball, but around 1/3 is better.

If you have a score which doesn't come out as a nice clean number, just round it. I'm not going to banish you from the boards if you overplay your approximate score by .4 points.

  2. Just as a reminder to all of you, as a Soldier you play with approximately 1/3 of your OP scores. I'll allow it to go up to 1/2 if thats what it takes for your character to form a fireball, but around 1/3 is better. As a Dedicated you go about 2/3, except for your Asha'man duel. Since that is at the end of your training, and you've just about reached your max potential you can play at about 90% strength.

What does this mean for all of you? Please keep your channeling abilities realistic. I noticed in the last Saidin learning RP it took about 20 minutes to go from touching Saidin to chucking logs at dummies. Not good. Picking things up with air is a draining task even for women, who are typically stronger in air than men are. So ... keep it simple. I don't like interfering with your learning RP's, but if it gets too far out of hand I'll have to.

  3. Everyone pay heed! It's time for trumptets and fanfare!

*Kicks the trumpet and fanfare person*

Right ... anywho ... it's time for a a Promotion. Soldier Baran Dolwhin, played by our very own Grimm, has reached the rank of Dedicated.

Everyone look at the shiney pin!

    LOOK AT THE SHINEY!

    ...

    That's better.

Congratulations Grimm. That was an impressive bout of posting to finish up your reqs.

  4. Everybody loses the duel  It's mostly an excuse for you to get practice writing a combat RP, since thats a large part of what we do as Asha'man. The fact that you're severely outmatched is just a painful side note.

  5. Other than the fact that an Aiel would probably implode if he called himself a Sword, there's not much wrong with the character idea. But like the others have said, the bio would need to be very well written and realistic. The Aiel are tolerant of the BT because they are the Car'a'carns allies, but they don't do much more than tolerate. Unless they need our gateways

Anyway, if you want to give it a whirl, there's no harm in submitting a bio. Just make sure all the details are in order.

The sticky up top that says READ FIRST!

To progress your character through the ranks to Asha’man, there are certain roleplay requirements you need to play out. There is no set order for the RPs, and you can do as many or as few at once as you like. (given that soldiers do the soldier-dedicated RPs, and dedicated do the dedicated-asha’man RPs). Civilian characters don’t need to train, as we currently have no ranks. If a civilian wishes to advance Weapon Score however, they will need to complete weapon training RP's. If you do not get staff approval first, you will not receive credit! BT initiates automatically gain WS upon rank up and therefore are not actually required to RP weapons training.

  7. Advancement. Soldiers have a 1, Dedicateds 5, Asha'man 7. You're assumed to have up to your ranks score. So even though you have a 5 as a Dedicated you can still play with a 1 if you disdain weapons.

  8. Daevis nodded. "We're a bit closer than you might think." He spared a glance at the two newest additions to the group. They looked pretty roughed up, but they would both manage a short trip through a gateway. Healing could wait. Tendrils of Spirit laced outward and quickly formed the shape of a gateway. A small flash of light split the air, rotating into a hole of absolute blackness. A skimming gateway. Ignoring the sounds of surprise coming from one of the newly rescued Wolfkin, Daevis stepped through the portal, onto the waiting platform. "Well, are you coming? I can hold this open for quite a while, but I'd rather not have to. It gets pretty boring in here."

A few moments later, his three companions had bustled through the gateway, and he let it snap shut behind Lorelai's heels. At once, he felt the odd sensation of still movement as the platform drifted toward his intended destination. It was only a short distance, so the trip only lasted a few seconds. The moving sensation ceased almost as soon as it began, and Daevis split the void with another gateway, this time opening up into the clearing he had been resting in earlier.

In short order, everyone had emerged from the gateway, looking no worse for their little trip in the void. Perhaps a little unnerved, but that was to be expected. Daevis had seen some new Soldiers wet themselves the first time they Skimmed.

"Sure beats walking, doesn't it? Over long distances for sure. Now then," he turned to two newly rescued wolfkin, "will you allow me to Heal your wounds and help you on your way home?"

  9. Awww ... time to do some of my DL duties and shoot holes in your ideas.

    :baalzamon:

BT purge? We have yet to do something like that. We don't even have any darkfriend characters here, so it would be a bit difficult. I am however in the early planning stages for such a thing. Stay tuned for details.

Recruiter fight ... maybe. But that would require COTS approval. And I can't imagine dreadlords have such an open recruiting process. Methinks they just sort through existing darkfriends, testing them for the ability.

However ... it might be interesting if we found them posing as BT representatives, then taking the poor fools they find and turning them 13X13 style ... hmmm ... I'll have to bring it up with the admins.

Drakghars ... no. I really doubt CotS would approve, since Drakghar are pretty valuable, and it would be insanely difficult to launch that kind of attack on 500-100 already paranoid male channelers. They would only get a few initial surprise kills, and then lose all their little shadowspawns.

Duck hunt. Woot! Have at it.

Male a'dam, AKA domination bands. Pretty important as far as the main story line goes. I don't think we can mess with those.

Shadar Logoth. Well ... if I have things my way, we'll be having a very nice little trip to Shadar Logoth in the near future anyway. If you catch my drift.

DF village. Probably needs CotS and/or Freelander approval, but I kind of like this. I'm all for the wholesale slaughter of not-so-innocent civilians.

The other problem with most of these, is that you'd need to be Dedicated rank. Except for the duck hunt and the Drakghar attack. But all in all, I likes the effort here. It's my job to poke holes in your ideas, but I like it when people come forward and present them.

  10. Arath wasn't quite sure what to expect as he entered the White Tower's stables and approached the women who had already gathered there. Jaydena had asked him to come along on this expedition in her stead, but he somehow doubted that it had been discussed with the others. Indeed, they looked more than a little surprised to see him.

"Hello ... sisters. Jaydena asked me to come along on this trip. An extra warder." Not exactly true, since he was the one holding this bond. Did that make Jaydena his warder? They still had yet to come up with a good term for the situation. "She was rather insistant on this."

A few quite moments and unreadable expressions later, Arath continued. "At any rate, I don't believe I've met any of you before. I'm Arath, Storm Leader of the Black Tower." He doubted that he needed to be introduced, since Jade hadn't exactly been shy about the bonding among her own ajah, but it never hurt to be polite. Especially around this place.

    "So, where are we going?"

  11. Just so you guys know, RJ confirmed that peaches are indeed poisonous in WoT. The pit is simply the most poisonous part, used in making more potent poisons. I believe he said it was one of those strange things that happened during the breaking.

I think it is simply evidence that peaches can indeed channel Saidin. And the cobbler reborn will be the one to defeat the Dark One.

    Character Name: Lir Gilbearn

    Nationality: Andor

    Age: 20

    Physical Characteristic: Blond Hair/Blue Eye/ 5'6 150lb

Lir is fair skinned with shoulder length blond hair and pale blue eyes. He has a slight but athletic build that comes from many hours practicing the sword. He carries himself with a serious, almost solemn demeanor that takes away from any good looks that he may possess. Though he has the unweathered face of one born to privilage, his hands bear a swordsmans calluses. He walks with a limp due to a serious injury sustained in his first real taste of combat.

Lir was born the third son of a third son of a minor noble house from the Andorran countryside. House Gillbearn was not among the most noteworthy or wealthy houses, and so while he grew up in a world of relative ease, it was with the expectation that he would eventually have to make his own way in the world.

Lir was blessed with both quick wits and quick hands, he showed a natural aptitude for sports such as fencing, and stones which he played often with his grandmother Sergase. He was in fact often to be found in the company of adults, his serious and focused manner often put him at odds with other children his age, and his inclination for reading and study set him apart as well. As a slightly older child he began to develop a fascination for the Great Captains, and his studies became more directed.

At the age of thirteen, Lir used his grandmother's connections to move in with relatives in Caemlyn so that he could begin training to join the Queens Guards with the aspiration to achieve high rank within the Andorran army. Three years later he was accepted into the Guards, and his superiors were impressed by his focus and determination. What he lacked in size and strength he made up for with both his natural quickness and long hours of practice.

When the Stone of Tear fell, the entire focus of Lir's life fell apart. Being a learned man, Lir knew a smattering of the prophecies and knew that Tarmon Gaidon would come during his lifetime. Martial studies which had once been his passion and intended carreer now became an obsession. When the last battle came, he was determined to play a role in victory for the light. He briefly considered going to Tar Valon for further training, but decided that a Warder would have less impact on the battle as whole than someone who directed troops.

Lir held a posistion of small rank within the Guards when the troubles errupted within the very palace. Though he fought bravely and with all of his skill, he was badly wounded in the fighting. As he watched the Lord Dragon and Aiel, Lir was overtaken with depression. He started to think that he had made the wrong choices, that a single soldier would never be able to make a difference when Tarmon Gaidon came. As he worked to overcome the weakness of his injury, he heard more and more tales of the Black Tower, and of the men who were becoming living weapons for the light. As soon as he was recovered enough to travel, he gathered his savings and set out to find the Dark tower. If he can't be tought to channel, he plans to continue north to Tar Valon.
