Care to discuss why?  Which parts you disagree with?  Which parts you feel needed to be different?  Forums work well to discuss things.  They work less well for general feedback.

That's the thing, there's nothing specifically which I have issue with necessarily, but its just not grabbing me like the book did. I'll definitely keep watching it though and hope it gets better for me.

I saw a bunch of fans responding negatively to Rand's "I moved over here to be alone" response to Egwene wanting to join him in his blankets as he was sleeping.

Indeed and if the roles were reversed nobody would bat an eye and say that she deserves privacy, if that's what she wants. It gets tiresome.

I tell people that Wheel of Time is the bridge from LotR to GoT. And it has elements of both along with something that is uniquely its own.

I'm not discouraged by "generic fantasy" reviews. There's a reason they only released 6 episodes and have been so closemouthed about the last two. The series is destined to be finished just before Christmas and before New Year's. That's prime series binging territory there as people hang out at home with families and friends. By the time people return to work and school, lots of people will have seen the whole show and tell their friends and co-workers.

If S1 ends strong, (and the cast have all hinted that it does) I'm very enthusiastic about the prospects. And S2 is where they will really get to start exploring the characters in earnest. Just like tGH + tDR broke out of the LotR mold, I expect S2 will break away from 'generic fantasy' into 'compelling character drama in a fantastical setting' which I think was GoT's recipe for success.

Oh I fully agree and I most definitely didn't intend on saying that WoT is exactly like LOTR either, but just rather if it had to be compared to anything, I would choose LOTR over GoT.

Ooh you will have to beware of spoilers everywhere around here, with regards to the books! It's built into our DNA, so there's no getting around some things, like boards for certain groups of people who only appear later on in the book series. Not sure what all's going to happen in the tv show ... lol

I'm great at tuning things out and honestly I don't mind spoilers anyway,  I still love reading for the full story rather than just for the main events.

    Hello and welcome, Calembel!

(Interesting name - where does it come from?)

Up to where have you read in the series? And are you going to watch the show when it comes out on Thursday/Friday/Saturday (who knows? time zones ?)

Calembel is a city name from Lord of the Rings (barely mentioned, but I like the name).

I'm almost done the first book! I'll be done later today. I will definitely be watching the show on Friday. I figure it will be quite different from the book anyway!
