I guess that can be your opinion; not everyone has the same sense of humor.

I'm not a Sanderson fan myself, but has he written the episode you refer to? If not, why drag him into the disusssion?

The Matt you refer to, the Trickster, is mostly an immature teenager in the books, in my eyes. He acts like a lot of teenage boys do, thinking they are funny, witty and smart while actually just being ... annoying ? And that is fine! That is who the character is to me. I still think in the series he is the least mature one, but with his new background a lot of that can be explained. He is clearly damaged by his early years and that is not his fault.

The thing is, he is the immature teenager in the early books but becomes more serious and willing or not, he accepts more responsibility as time passes. This is what made his story great.

We have not seen the Whitecloaks fight. What if there is some ingenious way that the detach the cloaks, or maybe the cloak is attached in some way so it does not sway outwards?

But the cloaks were too small, you said? And that still confuses me: the cloaks in the books are okay? There it wont impede their fighting?

If Randland had a fashion show catwalk where manscaped models strutted up and down wearing non-functional aesthetic clothing, that would be these Whitecloaks.

  3. Imagine a scarf hanging off your right shoulder while trying to swing your sword around...

You might turn around at the sight of the whitecloaks, but lets say they came up against Logain's army minus Logain. With equal numbers who do you think will win?

My bet is on the experienced fighters that survived a war and not the pretty boys who hunt women that can fight back.

I think I actually liked the Myrddraal.  Pretty scary given that their entry scene (rider back on the trail who's cloak doesn't move with the wind) doesn't exist in the TV version.

I would like to see future footage of Fades to have them at the edge of the screen with some sort of distorting effect. Like something seen at the edge of your vision. I'm no filmmaker but having the camera focus directly on them feels wrong.

  5. Not trying to troll but there is very little that I can think of that I like. I do like Nynaeve in the show. Unlike most people I think Nynaeve is one of the cooler characters in the books and I think the actress is doing a good job.

Most of the things people have listed here made me cringe. I have had a bit of a rough return to these forums and I'm not sure what I can and can not say anymore. Am I allowed to contradict what anyone has said?

eg someone said "Whitecloaks are more formidable" can I say that that they look like a bunch of metrosexuals taking a stroll through the woods? Honestly, they do not look tough at all. They are wearing robes and none/little armor, their grouping is disorganised rather than marching in a column, very little weaponry. Makes me wonder how they even captured that Aes Sedai and cut her hands off. An experienced warder would go through them like a hot knife through butter.

On second look they actually are wearing white cloaks though I use the word loosely. The "cloaks" drape of one shoulder on the sword arms which is a great way for them to get tangled during any serious fight. Perhaps we should start referring to them as Whitescarves?

    Okay. So like Venetian masks?

Because in the book The World of The wheel of time it says they sometimes wear masks to completely hide their features. How exactly would you describe Tarabon veils?

They don't all have to be the same mass produced veil. Some can be masks, most would be silk veils hanging from over the ears. I think I remember Taraboner helmets have chainmail veils. It is definitely a unique style.

  7. Robert Jordan described outfits in the books in such detail that some readers found it painful to read. However I feel the costume people didn't read the books at all.

I saw a documentary on the show and I think the designer said something about avoiding things that look medieval. What a nightmare for fans of Robert Jordan's world building.

The whitecloak armor is almost as bad as the armor the knights of the round table wore in First Knight. It is not even armor but just some metallic decoration on one arm. It would appear acceptable on the Questioners ...maybe (and what happened to the red shepherd's crook?) but I remember the whitecloak soldiers sitting around polishing their armor while Trollocs are attacking and now they have no armor to polish. At least give them some helmets.

Also it would be great if the whitecloaks actually had white cloaks. I'm sure it is affordable, just tear up some bedsheets or something.

We see many Aes Sedai wearing yoga pants in the show instead of "divided riding skirts" and as far as I can remember when Min is first shown she is wearing pants and it is scandalous whenever someone meets her for the first time. This is because initially only Min and the Aiel maidens are the only females in the world wearing pants. I think it would have been very cool to see these skirts made for riding.

Aes Sedai are wearing all of one color. I mean all Red Ajah are fully red from head to toe. In the books they wear all sorts of colors with their Ajah color in highlights here and there. If I were a whitecloak I would be looking for women wearing all of one color, a group of them together would be very obvious.
