  3. The Tower was the same as always, and it was always the same. The white walls were ever shining and the same palpable tension sifted through the air. Aes Sedai walked along at a leisurely pace, a group never varying in the shawl color upon their backs. Novices scurried to and fro, always in a rush to complete whatever task had been assigned to them. Accepteds in banded dresses strode through the halls at a pace between that of the other groups. The second level of Tower initiate attempted to be Aes Sedai in every manner possible, but they always could not look as if they weren't busy with tasks of their own. Eyes of various colors darted around, most dropping to the ground as the younger girls dipped into curtsies. Another thing that never changed.

Miahna shifted the shawl on her shoulders, forcing herself not to show the irritation she felt at the bloody piece of cloth. Despite her years as an Aes Sedai, the feel of the material weighing on her arms never got any easier. In fact, she found that the weight grew every time she had to exorcise the shawl from her dusty wardrobe. Her arms felt fettered, tied to her sides as she walked - giving her a constricting feeling. Completely irrational, as the billowy material was loose enough to fall to the ground had she not been holding it, but it wasn't a feeling easily dismissed. The longer she was away, the more the shawl chafed when she was home. I take it back, she thought to herself as the click of her heeled boots echoed off the walls, things do change. She glanced down at the fringe and a grimace momentarily formed on her lips. She had wanted to leave it in the closet, but the First Selector had insisted she wear it throughout the Tower. It wasn't that long ago that shawls were used for merely formal occasions. Now it is as if it is almost a shield...depressing thoughts, she told herself, jerking her mind away from the path it was heading toward. Too often of late she found herself thinking of the darker side of things. In fact, upon her trip back the Blue had been mulling over the idea of Darkfriends in the Tower. Notion of a "Black" Ajah had always been scoff worthy, but the more Miahna learned of how Darkfriends worked, the more she had been considering that the Ajah could exist.

Stop it, she scolded herself, shaking her head slightly as if to clear it. The silver bells on the ends of her dark braids jingled slightly and Mimi smiled at the cheery noise they made in the almost empty hallway. An Accepted, her brown hair also in dual braids smiled faintly and curtsied to Mimi as the Blue swept past. She nodded to the girl, her smile lastly thirty seconds longer than the girl's shared occupation of the hallway. Coming up on the Dining Hall, the Arafellin dropped her smile and smoothed her face into Aes Sedai serenity. It was also unusual for her to eat in the Dining Hall, but her preoccupation with the idea that there might be a Black Ajah had her doing things she didn't normally. Though she was annoyed with herself for letting the thought control her, Miahna knew she would feel worse if it existed and she hadn't been working toward ferreting out the Darkfriend Sisters. What was the use of riding the world of the rats if she let them take over her house?

Her sharp eyes scanned the Hall, looking for...what she wasn't sure, but she was stopped in her tracks by a table in the corner. There, in this Tower that felt is would combust from tension between the Ajahs sat a group of Aes Sedai eating together. That in itself wasn't strange, until one noted the various colored shawls looped around the arms of the women sitting. The table consisted of a Gray, two Whites, two Reds, and two Blues - Blues which Miahna knew well and one of the Reds gave her a flashback to her Accepted years. Quashing a blush before it stole across her cheeks, the Blue quirked an eyebrow in surprise. She stood still for a moment, pursing her lips as she mulled over joining the group. A split second later, her feet were moving forward, bells ringing behind her as she walked quickly across the Hall. She always walked quickly, so this was nothing new. Novices and Accepted dodged out of her way with hurried "apolgies Aes Sedai" falling from their lips as they did so.

"Evening ladies," she said serenely as she pulled up a chair and sat down next to one of the Whites. Resting her elbows on the table and steepling her fingers, she looked around at the group. She gave the ghost of a smile to Larindha, Ray-ray and Alia. To the rest, she nodded. "Care to catch me up on the happenings of the Tower? It seems I've been out for awhile."

  4. Dang it, you beat me to it! I was going to make you a welcome string here. Glad to see you've found your way to our boards .

He was? Who was he talking to? I didn't mean to steal the approval from you or Arlow, Myst heh. Apologies if I did *g*. Trying to keep on top of things now you know!

aloof. Men adore her, while she inwardly loathes them.

Personality weakness: Because she’s filled of rage and hatred, she sometimes loses control

    and goes berserk.

Personality strength: Her strength lies within her quick-thinking

Special: She can handle twin daggers with deadly accuracy, and can make poison. She’s

pretty good at hand to hand combat.

History: She was born to low-life parents, who worked in the Rahad part of Ebou Dar. Her

father was a pick-pocket and her mother a prostitute. Alinya learned a few tricks from her

father, like how to move silently and pickpocket someone, and climb walls when in need of

an escape route. Her mother was barely home and didn’t show much interest in her daughter.

When Alinya was only six years old her mother was murdered outside the bordello where she

worked. She was stabbed several times and robbed by low-life thieves. They got away with

her mother’s jewelry and all her money. Her father didn’t care and kept drinking and steal

from people who were misfortune to travel to the Rahad.

Her father died by his own foolishness, when he tried to pickpocket a thief who had

company. He was brutally beaten and dragged away to be thrown into the sea, to never be

seen again. She was only ten years old when her uncle took her in and raised her by himself.

The thing she learned from him was that women were worth nothing at all. And was to be

used and then thrown away as junk. He abused her each day, even raped her a couple of

times. She was beaten with a whip if she tried to escape, and slapped if she talked back. When

Alinya turned eighteen she decided she couldn’t take it anymore. When he got home after

drinking all night, she was waiting for him and was able to stab him in the stomach with his

own knife. After he fell to the floor she quickly as possible ran far away from the area.

She lived on the street looking for food to survive just another night, and slept on benches that

she could find. Alinya became pretty good at pickpocketing and stealing food, and search for

secret places where she could hide away at. One day when she was out looking for something

to eat, she witnessed a cloaked figure doing something. She walked closer to where the figure

was, and when she noticed he got paid by another shadowy figure, she got curious.

A woman clad in only black eyed her and as she took the money, she walked over to Alinya

and clapped her on the shoulder and smiled. Just that smile on the woman’s face was all

Alinya needed to follow the woman to a large house outside the city. The woman who was

known as Arina was a famous assassin, who did all kinds of jobs. Whoever hired her did not

matter as long as the payment was paid.

Alinya was a broken soul that could barely speak without stumble on the words. So, Arina

had to help her strengthen her mind and body. After two years of hard work at the farm with

different lessons to strengthen her mind, Alinya was finally ready to start training her body

as well. She was now twenty years old and her mind was finally fixed, but her hatred toward

men was still there, etched deep within her as a wound that would never heal.

Arina trained her hard and long, by having her lift bucket of water from bucket to bucket,

to strengthen her arms. She taught Alinya how to fight with daggers, hand to hand combat.

Alinya learned rather quickly under tutelage from Arina. Three years later, Alinya got her

first job as an assassin. Her job was to assassinate a lord in Ebou Dar, and making it look like

a duel gone wrong. The lord had hired several guards to follow him in the lower places in

Ebou Dar, which made it harder for Alinya to go about her job. But thanks to her training with

Arina, she was ready. Alinya had brought two twin daggers; she had bought with money she

had taken from her dead uncle. They were heron marked, which didn’t make a lot of sense

    because of their cost.

She was able to use the shadows to sneak up on her prey, without them noticing her ‘cause of

her black clothes. While she distracted the guards Arina could kill the lord, and she made it

    look like they dueled.

Alinya turned twenty eight when her teacher had taught her all that Arina knew what it took

to be an assassin. How to make poison, fight with daggers, hand to hand combat, and to hide

in the shadows. One important thing that she learned was to bring down her breathing to an

almost halt, so she could fake her own death. If she ever would need to do that, to get rid of

    any suspicions.

  6. That's fine, Ems! Any time in the next week will be great, if possible.

Awesome, because I had to run to the doctor with a problem for my eyes. No worries though, everything is sorted! I'm looking at it now :).

  7. Now my aim is an average of 1 RP per day. Wish me luck!

Good luck! I've been thinking that I might set aside two days a week for RPing. As in, don't get to do anything else on DM until I've written a post or two *g*.

Elgs, I have had two DREADFULLY busy days at work as all the kids are finally faced with having to write that semester long paper that they've put off. I helped 14 kids today on reference, for example. each generally between 20-30 minutes a piece. I haven't had much time to play (other than my dinner break) and now I'm tired.

BUT I'll get to the Heads RP in the morning - promise!

    None

    3. Ideas & News:

    • Errrr.....I am done with my writer's block/being up Mafia's arse. I'll be posting as soon as I'm back from Easter weekend.
    • Kat and I are working on a Yellow/Blue RP. Its got something along the lines of them both going after the same info, perhaps crossing paths in it but not knowing then maybe meeting up in the end or perhaps not, we just think it would be fun.
    • Working with Elgee on the Ajah Heads string. Hoping to tie in the Black Ajah hunt with the end of this.

    4. Problems:

    • Activity, myself included! I blame it on the writer's block that swallowed the rest of March for me!

  10. Not surprised at all with the results *laughs*.

You belong to the Blue Ajah!

Members of the Blue Ajah seek to right wrongs in the world, and are often on some kind of quest for justice in various forms. While their goals are often noble (though they need not be), it is not rare for a Blue to lose herself in her mission completely.

This is your result in its entirety:

    Blue Ajah: 5

    Green Ajah: 5

    Brown Ajah: 5

    Gray Ajah: 4

    White Ajah: 3

    Yellow Ajah: 3

    Red Ajah: 0

  11. Yes, Kaylynn, you are more than welcome to jump in!

Maybe you prank the lot of them? Or set off the prank that you were going to do with the other two before the AS caught them?

    OR

It's the next day and the girls decide to get "even" with the Aes Sedai that gave them their punishment. After all, she just said to tell the truth - she didn't say not to prank! (There's some AS logic for you )

  12. The days seemed to go by quickly, blue skies turning rainbowed hued and then dark. The stars were merely tiny pinpricks of light against the massive black backdrop, but they were beautiful. Carys stretched out on her cloak, looking up at the stars. Elessar had offered to build a tent for her, but she'd passed, preferring the wide open sky after the stifling feel of the Tower. Besides, the weather was nothing. She'd learned that trick long ago and if she put her mind to it, she could recall how to set ignore the wind as it turned cool at night. It seemed of late it had been easier – like a task she'd practiced repeatedly as a child but hadn't used since then. That's exactly what it is, she mused to herself. I haven't needed to use it since I wore a banded dress. Has the world changed so since then, or is it me? Mayhap both, she decided, sitting up as her Warder reappeared.

They'd exchanged a few words and then retired to their respective sides of the fire for sleep. Their conversation flowed easily, as it did most often now. Odd how comforting having another person in your head could be. She propped her head up on her elbow and stared into the flames, letting the crackle of the fire lull her into drowsiness. She smiled as the flames licked the air and settled into the plush lining of her cloak. Half asleep, she heard Elessar poking at the fire and she smiled again.

That's how the first night had gone; the second was shaping up to be a repeat. So very different from the last trip, she thought to herself as she Embraced Saidar and flicked a lick of flame toward the logs. The kindling lit immediately, orange flames roaring up toward the rapidly darkening sky. Elessar returned from setting up the horses and nodded at her. Setting the supplies close to the two logs she'd slid over with Air, he walked off to check the perimeter. Carys rooted around in the bag for food and sat down on a log near the fire; the tall trees making the light disappear faster than expected. “Much faster and I'll have to create a light ball just to see beyond the flames,” she mumbled to herself, still content with the situation. When Elessar returned, the Aes Sedai handed him a piece of dried beef and watched as he moved to sit on the other side of the fire. They were Bonded and seemed to know each other so well in so many ways, but in others he was a mystery. Like sitting across the fire instead of on the other side of the log on which she sat. Smiling inwardly at the confusion, the Yellow merely pulled out her sketchbook and flipped through the day's drawings, the fire providing all the light she needed.

After a while Elessar spoke. Closing her book, Carys looked over the fire to her Warder. Placing a twig carefully in the flame, he said: “I have heard many things about Falme, but have never been there myself...The city was formerly known as Miereallen while a part of the nation of Safer during the Compact of the Ten Nations.” The Yellow nodded, recalling some of the history from her Accepted lessons. She knew not nearly as much as Brown, nor probably as much as Elessar, but she recalled some details of the city. Soon, though, her thoughts turned to the Sea Folk and what she could remember about the guarded people.

Most of what the White Tower knew was courtesy of the few Sea Folk Sisters. When it had come out that the Sea Folk could channel, channel well, and knew things the White Tower did not, it had caused quite an uproar in the Hall; in every Ajah. Carys only knew what Camigwen told her, but she could extrapolate from there. The stern First Weaver had been almost visibly upset at her request to Carys. She'd explained that it would not be an easy task and that she'd had almost no choice in the matter. Someone had to be sent and she'd proven her worth in Cairhein. The young Yellow had almost jumped at the chance, furthering the furrow in the First Weaver's brow. She'd drawn a deep breath and sent Carys on her way. Carys had headed straight for the Library, wanting to find out more about the culture. From the notes she'd taken at the Library, the Sea Folk were stubborn and contemptuous toward Aes Sedai. But she'd already agreed and so they went. At least Cam hadn't given her a deadline time for their arrival. Caemlyn was ...enough on the way and she was itching to see Celter again. To see how his position in the Palace was suiting him.

“Historians claim that the White Tower played a significant role in the unification of the nations in the Compact”, Elessar added into the silence. Carys nearly jumped with surprise; it had been at least an hour since they'd both stopped talking. “They say that the hand of Aes Sedai was everywhere..”

The fire crackled as if in response to his words and fiery red sparks flew into the air, momentarily piercing the enveloping darkness. She nodded, agreeing with the historian claims. “As Servants of All, the White Tower would have been heavily involved in such a Compact. It was a plan for protection and protect it did. No one could have predicted the War that followed; the astonishing amount of Trollocs that would pour out of the Blight.” Elessar spoke his assent and the conversation turned lighter as she made a joke about the Aes Sedai always being involved and he smiled. His smiles were rare, but beautiful. She said as much and laughed at his reaction. The fire popped happily in between them.

Yawning, Carys stood up and bid the Gaidin goodnight. It was just formality, as she was merely retiring to the other side of the log, but she did it all the same. The fire warmed her back as she spread out her cloak, staring out into the woods. It wasn't long before sleep took her, dulling the sound of the fire and forest until she was no longer listening.

They set out in the morning, working as a team to dissemble the campsite and ready the horses. Gray nudged her hand, looking for a treat and Carys obliged. Reaching into one of the saddlebags, she produced two small red apples. One for Gray and one for Elessar's warhorse. Holding out her hands – one to each side – she giggled as the whiskers tickled her palms. The horses made record work and the Yellow wiped her hands on her dress before mounting. Her Warder jogged out from behind some trees to mount his horse and lead the way.

The day was just like the previous days had been – sunny clear skies and pleasant. At one point, she noted to Elessar how much different this journey was than their previous journeys. She missed his reply, said as he began moving forward again to check the path, but she paid it no mind. She drew the sketchbook out again and set to drawing the Warder. Drawing people wasn't something that she did often. Ever, actually. Her eyes were much more trained to drawing animals. It was past midday before she looked up from her drawing. Not bad for the first attempt at drawing a person she thought, smudging some coal to create shading. Her eyes caught movement out of the corner and she her head to see her Warder staring at the drawing. She blushed for a moment before she assumed Aes Sedai serenity. Her fingers worked quickly to shut the book and tie the ribbon. "Oh look," she said, pointing forward, "town."
