DRAGONMOUNT

A WHEEL OF TIME COMMUNITY

Fan Art Friday: Hiding in Plain Sight (Part 3 of 3)

peregrine

For the last couple weeks, the Fan Art Friday focus has been on those Wheel of Time fan artists on the fringe of the fandom, those fiendishly flighty fellows who fashioned only one or a few phenomenal Wheel of Time works before flitting off to fairer feats.

For part 3 of the series, I'm finishing with flair.

(I know, the alliteration is shameless. Don't judge me. It's been a long day.)

Above (Wheel of Time): Morgase Trakand (Her work is probably quite well known to those of you who were following Wheel of Time fan art a decade ago. This is probably her most famous, but it could be this one instead.)

3. ~dem888 (Eric de Mander)

Above (Wheel of Time): Tarmon Gai'don (This painting has probably broken some sort of record for "most comments on a Wheel of Time fan work." Clearly, calling ~dem888 an unknown in the Wheel of Time fan community would just be silly. Once again, the awesomeness of his original works has prompted me to ignore my own theme.)

i am very thankful that i get so many awesome artworks, but i don't understand why other arts are shown

I've always loved this cute, pastel Moiraine, and above all - Tarmon Gai'don. The pencil Rand picture I haven't seen before, it's interesting. After some serious stuff, good choice to end up with cute little Lan :) And, to the contrary, I like the idea of letting us see the more everyday stuff of these artists'.

Ah, I just get tired of featuring the same artists and characters all the time. Occasionally it's nice to mix things up a bit. Plus, I like to think it's nice exposure for these artists.

Great finds as always, peregrine! I like ti when you mix it up a little, as well. To me, the standout this week is the Steel Inquisitor.....absolutely stunning!

I agree. The Steel Inquisitor looks awesome! It's a really great use of black and white (as well as the one of Rand). I love the detail, like Rand's little fat man angreal, and Callandor too. Though my favorite is chibi-Lan and Mandarb! Too cute!

Tarmon Gai'don gives me chills everytime i see it; it's been my desktop backround ever since I first saw it. I'm glad to see something on the mistborn series, it's not as popular as I personally think it should be.

Awesome; I love getting featured at Dragonmount! Very cool stuff here; love Canaan's Rand, which I haven't seen before (I've seen and admired this steel inquisitor on the art forums). And Tarmon Gai'don is pretty boss. Gah; every time I come to this site, it makes me impatient as heck for January. I need to read some Dance of Dragons for now and forget that Wheel of TIme exists, else I'll be insane before it hits the shelves. :D Thanks for the feature, peregrine; always appreciated.
