aracter History: (no previous RP experience

Hanes was born on a farm alongside the Dragonwall in 956 NE. His mother died

when he was quite young and his father got wounded during the Aiel war and

died soon after. Hanes tried to keep the farm going, but persistent rumours

of another attack and the solitary lifestyle in the end persuade him to

abandon the farm a year later and seek his fortune in the city.

When he arrives in the autumn of 979 NE, he finds Cairhien full of other

refugees and soon regrets having left his farm. As he considers returning,

he meets Sema, a young seamstress and after a short courtship, they get

married and settle down together in the expanding area of the Southern

Foregate . When Sema hears from customers that the palace joinery is looking

for workers she passes the news on to Hanes. Without formal training as a

carpenter his only hope lies in taking one of the carefully crafted chairs

that he made as a wedding gift for Sema. He is lucky, not many have heard

about the open positions as yet and the master carpenter is happy with the

example of Hnes’s work. A week later Hanes joins the castle employees as an

apprentice joiner.

Hanes and Sema have two children, Nulri and Hane. Nulri dies at the age of

four in a tragic accident when she is kicked in the head by a spooked horse.

The tragedy has a devastating effect on Sema, who feels she is to blame for

Nuril walking out into the street. Her demeanour becomes more and more

bitter and withdrawn as the years go by. Hane, three at the time, grows up

wishing to escape the sadness that seems to permanently lie over the

familie. When roumors of the Great Hunt being proclaimed in Illian surface

in Cairhien, he decides to seek his fortune there. All that’s left for his

family is a note to say he will be back one day.

After his sons departure, Hanes feels like there is little meaning left in

his life. He hardly takes note when the Shaido attack the city, other than

that he is working every hour of the day to make crossbows instead of the

usual furniture for the court. After the Dragon arrives with the other Aiel

his life goes back to it’s pre-shaido dreary grind until one day, whilst on

his way home, he sees Aiel justice being dispensed. A young girl is caught

pick pocketing and justice is dispensed on the spot. (Insert appropriate

punishment) Hanes is shaken up… his daughter would be that age now had she

lived. He realizes that life in Cairhien has changed a lot and he hasn’t

even noticed it. In the following weeks Hanes spends time out in the streets

to observe and he doesn’t like what he sees. The Aiel are patrolling the

city and are dispensing instant justice where ever they feel like it. Hanes

is incensed. One day he vents his feelings to a fellow worker in the joinery

who suggests that maybe there is a way to do something about it. He arranges

for Hanes to come with him to a meeting and so on a slightly windy evening

Hanes career with the Sons of Cairhien begins.
