Des, just this: the feeling i get from you is that you're handling Tommy the same way you handled me in the firefly game. D1 statement 'X' is scum and not letting go. You were wrong about me, and i am 99.9%certain you're wrong again.

Talk to me about Tom. This whole thing about dingus and him clearing each other automatically, and then that pr claim and dingus coming back seems like a set up job.

To an extent I don't know Despothera's more evil side, but I think like hallia, there'd be a tell from him. I'm not picking anything up so I'm gonna trust my instincts.

Tom claiming his role D1 with very little pressure on him sounds like a bad idea. Likely scenarios now will include: Doc and watchrole will be on Tommy all the time, scum anticipating that and being able to kill off townies every night. Or, doc and watcher will protect/watch others in the hope scum will assume they will do Tommy and Tommy does get killed.... both suck.. I think manbad and Tommy happen to be online a lot at the same time, and they play enough in the same games so that they can 'read' eachother quite easily. I have  them both as townies in this game.

I think there are a few possibilities. I will list them.

 

First, Tomcat is a Godfather. This means the role claim is a means to lock clear Tom's village status and mess with our doctor.

 

Second, Dingus and Tomcat could have a (mason?) qt together and orchestrated this to bait a scum nk.

 

Third, Tom really did feel like there was a good chance of him being shot tonight and so decided to hard claim hoping for a doc. save. If this was the case though I fail to see how breadcrumbing a role that will hurt village when it's killed, is something town!tom would do if he were actually that role.

 

As to Dingus clearing Tom right away. Well I actually have had a game where they were both v/v and in it Dingus took 2 or 3 days to move tomcat up to 90% even. It certainly wasn't immediate whatsoever. To not have any particular reason why it's different this time is conspicuous especially after dingus just modded a game where the scum had a village alliance.

Now, I know krak a little I think, and I think the mystery to this game is solving what the prs are through the flavor text. I think he's that sort of person, and I think there are a bunch of neat mechanics out there for us to wrestle with.

we'll see during the progress of the game what everything will be. I'd prefer not to do anything about/to the people i see as town, but majority decides anyways. I need to head out for a while, will be back later today

This feels to me like Town Tom, and honestly modding the entire game watching him wolf and all the plays he was making me think it's probably a correct assessment

 

It's not like I don't think this could be the reason, but I do think it is a little convenient. On its own it wouldn't be something I'd frown at.

And while this is all so deep. It's taken me 70 pages to connect enough 1-2 dots to make it that deep. And all my instincts say there's something going on behind the scenes that I don't know about.

 

1. Would not be surprised if one of dingus or tom were scum, if not both.

2. Would not be surprised if both were towns.

3. I would be surprised if Tom is actually the beloved princess.

4. I will follow this up with a tone read of both Tom and Dingus.

Ok, I'm about caught up, although have skimmed a fair few pages. I don't have any strong leans one way or another, there are a few people I have tentative town leans on atm.

 

Cliff notes:

Thane is probably my clearest town atm. I like that he wasn't avoiding the thread during yesterdays arguments.

 

Dice was next clearest until his vote on Arsis, the reasons/quotes given seemed taken out of context, e.g. Saying that Arsis statement about Belgium was a potshot seemed weird. Arsis didn't use it to FOS Thane in any way, so I'm not sure what's meant by potshotin this context, plus in threadflow was a clear joke. Still town lean, but lower than it was.

 

Incidentally Arsis's reaction to Dice's vote falls within his town range, as does his general abrasiveness this game. I ISO'd his first few pages from the DHEL game, and I'm seeing a difference so far. Leaning town so far.

 

Cory/Hallia also seem town, I'll read Cory when he starts posting at EOD, for now I understand his reasons for the lower PC ( ). I feel this is more likely town motivated, suspect Cory would be pretty confident as mafia on this forum, so would find it easy to drown the thread with posts if he was mafia. Hallia seems clear town atm.

 

Yates/Leelou also seem town for now. There were several points I agreed with Yates on, mostly his actions towards Thane/Hallia early game, remember feeling cautiously good about Leelou, light green read.

 

Des's reaction to Tommy's claim is more likely to come from town Des I think.

 

Unsure on Tommy, I won't be happy with a read on him, based only on game play, for at least another day phase, I also want to ISO Tommy in Cthulu, as I believe that's the last game he had a negative utility role in.

In theory, I'm working in Morocco during November. Once we have final confirmation, that that project starts then next week I have a project to finish, one to handover and a methodology to prepare and teach, so I'll be very reliant on Key next week in all likelihood.

Incidentally, this was confirmed yesterday. I should have more time from Monday, although still not during my work hours (!) but I'm going to be mostly absent this week, as it currently looks like I'll be working long hours at work, plus getting house clear for extended absence...

 

I will try to keep up so I don't have a huge catch up on Monday, but we'll see.

Tommy - I'm - tentatively - null to town on Tommy atm. I saw a couple of people said they were scumreading him because he's all over the place and strongarming, but I'm leaning townish on him because of that. I've played with him twice - the first time he was villager and was more aggressive about pushing at people. While I can't honestly claim to have ever really scumread him in the Firefly game, I did feel a bit wary about him from time to time because he seemed to be sort of sitting back more and just gently prodding people here and there. So I'm kind of associating that more mild behavior with him as scum.

This is also where I'm at when it comes to Tom. He has a tendency of being aloof as scum, and being bullheaded when town, but right now he's in between those two for one reason or another.
