yet here I am being ganged up on for pushing a lynch through that you wanted, Verb

Yes, I did want her lynch early on, relented to allow the planned night action confirmation, and then hammered because I didn't want the town punished. Notice how I literally waited until the last minute?

Also, remember how I was showing obvious reluctance when you started talking about how excited I must be about her lynch being clear? Remember my reply? Part of that hesitation was due to your apparent eagerness, and how you assumed I would share it.

Translation: you knew she'd flip town, and you were trying to set me up as tomorrow's mislynch as a result.

You saw the lynch you had parked on (but didn't expect to take off) for most of the game was about to finally happen and you got scared of being part of a wagon you knew would flip town... then you pinned it on me.

See how easy it is to spin?

Not really.  You're doing it in response to my critique, which is just adding fuel to the fire.

Also, it was clear you were leading the train.  It was also apparent after Hallia balked that Tina was the lynch - hell, it was apparent before that.  Why would I express hesitation at the 11th hour (literally) like that?  Could it be that it dawned on me (no pun, both to player or movie name) at that moment on what you might be doing?

Mmhmmm, tell me more.....but slower.

And Verb needs to present one of his own as well, no more hedging por favor.

I did - it was maybe a couple pages back.

Currently, my top suspects for scum are:

1. Hallia for her all-around confusing gameplay and random votes

2. Darthe for defending me non-stop...it seems he is trying to make it look like if one of us it scum, we both are. Also his fights with Despo look like they are trying to make it seem like distancing.

3. Despo - see the reason for Darthe.

I think Laya, Clov, and Tommy, and Tina are all town. Not sure about the rest of the players.

Good call out on Tina - I was really stuck on her alignment before you just cleared that up.

I finally figured out why you said this response to my post and now I feel stupid.

I thought it was Dice who was lynched...not Tina. What was I thinking...

That escalated quickly. Dare I say B.S.ily.

There's no discrepancy. Critical analysis is a supplement to tone reading until maybe a must lynch situation at which time I would agree with Verb that it should be prioritized. Due to time constraints I play most games on my phone now which is how you end up with "Tommy is going with the flow!" sentiments.

You're basically asking me why I would EVER be analytical, as if that's some gotcha in a mafia game. FOS on you for making mountains out of majestic molehills.

Tell me more about how I'm full of it though, that should be fun.

Yes, there really is.  You insinuated you're not big on playing around claims.  How have you NOT been doing that this game?  First of all, you came out of nowhere with a vanilla town claim and used that to lump yourself in with the claimed power roles.  Second, you have specifically stated that we need to look at those who haven't claimed.  That's either:

A) Passing on those who have claimed, OR

B) Subtle pressure to get those who haven't claimed yet TO CLAIM

Third, look at yesterday's lynch.  You pressure Dice.  He gets close to getting lynched, he claims, you immediately move in another direction.  And based on your interaction with Hallia, the only reason you were comfortable lynching Tina is because she didn't have an investigation result to prove her to be town.

I don't know why you felt the need to bring your lack of time or phone into it - I didn't say you're going with the flow.  I didn't say you shouldn't use analysis.  All I did was you made a claim about how you're playing Mafia that completely contradicts an absolute ton of what we've seen in the game so far.  Maybe if you had said "I said not big on playing around claims, not that is never happens" I might  have considered what you said.  But no, keep getting overly defensive over a "molehill" (as you put it) and trying to make me look bad for bringing up a valid point.  That's a townie response.  That's going to make you look better come tomorrow.

It's probably not.

You're outright lying there - I did NOT immediately believe Dice's claim, and when it came time to pick a lynch, we had someone all present agreed was scummy and someone that offered himself as a lynch prior to that. You weren't there. What would you have done?

The rest is you stretching the limits of phrasing. You're welcome to trying, but so far this looks pretty piss poor on your part to smear me over semantics.

My bad - it was like 10 pages ago.  Here it is.  I added a few thoughts in RED.

Tina - was my #1 suspect, as I've stated. I cooled a little on her as a result of Hallia's revealed information, but I'm wary of a early move from scum to protect. Food for thought, but I'm not willing to lynch yet.....especially as her claimed role can be vetted via game mechanics (but I'm still super suspicious based on flavorspec). I hammered at deadline - she was town.  I was wrong on my initial read.

Dawn - I haven't spent much time on her posts this game. She's new, and I cut new players a ton of slack in the first bunch of games they play. Her early game seemed a bit sloppy, but to her credit she seems to have pulled it together a bit better since. Coaching? Perhaps. Null for now.  No change

Des - I agreed with him early on in his spat with Darthe, and his claim is the most easily vetted via game mechanics. In addition to the vetting of Lenlo's role (prob with a future lynch on Lenlo), this would clear Des almost completely due to knowing there was no 3rd party in this game. No change

Clovdyx - I have no prior experience with Clov, so I can't read him yet. Asking me some pointless questions that I've already explained, but I might be as much of an unknown quantity to him as he is to me, so null. Seems to be an aggressive player, which scum have a hard time keeping up with if faked, so time will tell. Actually starting to lean slight town - he's questioning others in the same way and the consistency is towntelling for me.

Darthe - Kind of an annoying little brat, actually. Wanted to slap him upside the head early on, but I know that was just how he likes to roll sometimes. Again, a role that can be vetted with game mechanics, so he's in the unlynchable club until we've properly vetted. That said, if that group is not reasonably cleared soon, they all go into the lynch pool, and Darthe would prob land as my #2 behind Tina (depending on Hallia, actually). He's more reserved at this point than I'd expect.  If Des did shoot Hallia, this will strongly impact my feeling on Darthe - I can't have that many scum reads, lol.

Dice - Another player I have not properly paid attention to yet, but his claim is a typical fake claim for scum. I'm waiting to hear his response to my question on whether he believes Hallia. Open slot for me right now.  I doubt this game has no Doc, so I'm ok with him unless he's cc'ed.

Tommy - I've been conversing with Tommy all day. I think he's asking good questions, but I'm wondering about how he's defending the Hallia-Tina link I've suggested. On the bubble with him, with maybe a very slight scum lean. Very slight.  More than very slight, as I've explained already.

Hallia - see my commentary on Tina. I had a slight scum lean, which stays the same after her reveal, unless Tina can be vetted....in which case I'll go town on Hallia as a result.  I might change this.  Scum RBer is an obvious possibility.  Completely undecided right now.

Verbal - I'd hit it.  And then I'd never call him back.

Pral - see my above ISO. Town read. No change

Lenlo - The object of some flavorspeccing as well, which I'm already guilty of this game. I like the claim, and it can easily be vetted after a few phases and then lynching Lenlo to open up the game with the verified information.....assuming we ask the right questions, which I think we're on the right track for (and this also helped my read on Pralaya with good questions and input into that line of thought). Town until the vetting shows otherwise. No change

He claimed at 3:33 (Post 1187).

You moved your vote over at 3:54 (Post 1217).

I'll admit, you stated your skepticism.  Good for you.  You were skeptical enough it took all of 21 minutes to move to another person.

What would I have done?  Can't really be certain, but I'm guessing I'd question what I thought was a terrible wagon, point out why - such as terrible voting where several people indicated the desire to lynch somebody else but hopped on - , and move to the person among those who I thought had the greatest possibility of being scum based on what I'd seen in the thread.

Don't care if you're scum - I like you.  I'd ask you out and then not pay for dinner.

Wow, you're absolutely right. In a high pressure low time situation I made a decision, rallied support for it, and now I'm lock scum because hindsight is a perfect scumhunter.

Stay classy, Clov. Or just die.

So Verb: Darthe/Tommy/Hallua scum team, something like that? Does that even fit together?

No, which means I'm wrong on some of my reads.  But not likely all of them.

Posted

Clov, now is a good time to see where you stand in this game. Show me a list like Verb just posted.

One, I don't do organized lists like that.  I never have (and you've played with me enough to have seen that), and I never will.  Two, if you can't figure out where I stand at this point, you're not reading the thread.

Darthe is the one that's giving me the most trouble. His early game was legit bad and he's gotten quieter, as you noted. He spun around on me awful quick when I said was probably town after all. If there's someone going with the flow, it's him. He's been dodging my queries for a day or two now. It makes me uncomfortable when he won't share what he's thinking since he's usually so happy to correct people.

We already know that's true, but from my perspective you've been UTR since I joined this game. Expecting me to remember your ever stance when you barely post is ridiculous. You knocked me talking about phone posting, what's your excuse?

On the upside: my experience with mafia games tells me it's more likely that the people throwing down right now are probably town. Scum is more likely to stay out of this sort of spat during night phases (and in general). So slight town points to people who are currently engaged and aggravated.

I don't usually, either.  This might be the 3rd or 4th time in about 7 years that I've done it.

I agree with you here.  My problem is that I think I'm wrong on Hallia, and right on you two.  Which would make sense for you to say that, seeing as I said I'd prob place Darthe as my #2 behind Tina.  Which would make him prob my #1......meaning you could bus early to buy towncred with me.

Yes, I'm going in circles here.  Also tinfoiling a bit.

My "excuse" is that I've been putting my thoughts in the thread for all the world to read.  You want to be analytical?  With the way I'm talking to you now, you can probably analyze that I'm not feeling so great about you.  I voted Lenlo yesterday for having the least believable claim and then moved to Dawn after explaining her votes and conclusions made no sense to me.

Also, as far as the bold goes, I can respect that opinion - though I don't know if the rest of the game would agree with your conclusion.

Understatement of the game.  I wanted Tina to flip scum (even though I was super hesitant at the end) to validate basically all my reads and let me take the Town Leader mantle from your dry and somewhat freckle-y shoulders and run this town to the promised land.

Now I'm not sure if I'll run it off the side of the cliff.  Methinks neither you nor I should be leading.  I'd like to see a vetted townie emerge from these night actions, actually - THEY would be the right person to move the town forward.

Hallia is another tricky case. By tone, she passes. I don't see her pushing any sort of agenda. I'm just not sure what team exists without her in it.

Darthe, Dawn, Pral... maybe? Maybe Dice has a fake claim.
