Let me know which films you think are the worst.

The RAZZIES® were created in 1980 by lifelong cinemaniac and cynic John Wilson, author of both THE OFFICIAL RAZZIE® MOVIE GUIDE and EVERYTHING I KNOW I LEARNED AT THE MOVIES. Nominees were determined by mailing ballots to 737 Golden Raspberry Foundation members throughout 42 US states and more than a dozen foreign countries. Should they choose to accept their RAZZIES® "winners" receive a gold-spray-painted, golf-ball-sized raspberry atop a mangled super 8 film reel, with an estimated street value of $4.97. For more information on the RAZZIE® Awards, and their ill-lustrious history, please visit www.razzies.com.

y'know, I don't think that Lady in the Water was Razzies-bad... I'm thinking that people went in with high-expectations and were dissapointed. M. Knight movies get a lot of hype and press, in a way they are indie films that make it to the big screen (at least recently).

How is Wickerman on that list? A bear punches a woman in the face, then steals her bike. This is the most awesome movie EVER!

There are some bad movies that are so bad, they cross over into the good category. I think Wicker Man is one of these.

Bloodrayne is the worst movie of the year. I think Basic Instinct 2 will win... but..heh... at least it had sex scenes that were probably over the top. I never saw BI2 but I can't believe how bad Bloodrayne was. Uwe Bowl is the worst director ever.

II actually liked Lady in the Water... I think it got it's bad wrap because it didn't have the expected "twist".

And anyway, it beat out "The Village" by a mile.

Hrm. I think I preferred The Village, why did you prefer Lady Kyara?

The Village seemed like it had been done before. I read a similar story in High School, and saw an episode of The Outer Limits that was almost identical.

Even though Lady had a lot of familiar elements, the story seemed fairly original in the way it was told.

But that's only my two cents worth. :)

Now it seems I must gather my skirts and run off to WT or face penance.

pssht. No worries about the WT, it will always be there :)

your Village points are good ones. For me sometimes my "willing suspension of disbelief" goes out the window when something in a story just doesn't fit. Ie, the tension was lost in Signs when I saw the alien. In The Village, at the beginning, there were a number of things that kept me from getting really in to the story, but then I found out that those oddities were _supposed_ to be there, and I was drawn in more (finding out the monsters were fake for example). So the ending was more suspenseful and touching than I had expected at the beginning of the movie.

Though I liked Lady in the Water, there was something about it that kept me from getting really involved with the characters, the story was told rather clumsily IMO. Emp commented after watching Pan's, and I agree with him, that it was more what we thought Lady in the Water would be.

Lady wasn't in my all-time faves by far, but it was interesting. I've definately got to find a showing of Pan's and see it soon... evrything I've read about it sounds great. Unfortunately, I live in a small Bible Belt southern town, so we generally get kid's movies and shlock at our local theatre.

I live near Philadelphia and it wasn't playing in the suburbs, we had to go downtown. I'm sure that it will be relatively easy to find as a rental when it comes out though.
