DRAGONMOUNT

A WHEEL OF TIME COMMUNITY

The long awaited Cairhien RP - Its here

This is an RP which has been rewritten and altered a number of times, including tonight, but its about to start soon :)

The basic gist is that Cairhien is occupied by the Aiel. Unlike the book Cairhienin who are a bunch of pussies and swoon at being looted and aping their occupiers, our Cairhienin have become increasingly incensed with the Aiel who walk their streets as if they own them, killing with impunity (most part criminals, but eh) and generally intimidating people. For the Rogues Guild (Criminal organisation in Cairhien, alot of old RP histor), its gone too far. They're going to war against the entire Aiel occupation, and others are resisting as well.

It will end with alot of dead people, but the Cairhienin will get their city back and the Legion of the Dragon will be founded. But, enough talking, have a read of the RP plan. And keep in mind, if you do want to play let me know, and that this RP will be run as quickly as possible. If it lags, we will assume things happened with your characters. Not that we'll kill them off, but we will push the RP forward where necessary.

At anyrate, read :)

Backstory: The occupation of Cairhien by the Dragon’s forces has been in place for some months now, an occupation which has seen the Aiel act as the Dragon’s hand in the city. The Aiel in particular have occupied themselves with cracking down on any and all forms of lawlessness in the city, killings in the streets have not been uncommon as Aiel justice has often been found on a spear point.

This has led to independent seeking refuge with the Rogues Guild, an organisation that has been pushed increasingly towards taking action despite not wishing to draw attention to itself.

Intro Post: Aran has arrived in Cairhien and meets his brother atop one of the topless towers that were first burnt down in the original Aiel War, then again damaged in the Shaido war. While they are there, they speak of how things have been. The Aiel treating the city as if it is theirs, executing people in the streets, the impotence of the Lords of Cairhien in the face of the Dragon. But soon their talk comes to an end, the council is gathering.

Gathering in an unknown building, different men and women from the guild have gathered. Their patience is exhausted, and even those who had been most fervent in ignoring the Aiel now wish to take action.

Early in the night, an Aiel patrol with a smuggler in custody is stopped in the street by a pair of hooded figures bearing staves. The pair, Aventari and Aran, kill the patrol save one who is then held by a pair of NPC’s. Aventari tells the man he is to be their messenger, before ordering the Aiel be taken away and have his eyes, nose, fingers and thumbs hacked off. The pair then disappear back into the night, they have more work to do.

The Aiel had a man found by their sentries who is horribly disfigured and he bears a message for the Aiel.

“I remember the first war, the screams of those perishing in the flames and upon Aiel spears, those whose only crime was that they called Cairhien their home. Now your degenerate race has returned, and you stalk our streets without fear, killing as you please, imposing your justice upon us and doing as you will.

Those days have ended. For every death, for every injustice, I shall answer them upon you and yours in kind until you leave this city. It is not yours, it never was yours, and will never truly be yours, not while I still draw breath.

Aventari.”

Discussion ensued but before anything could be decided, the Dragon appears and says that only those responsible are to be targeted, the rest of the city is to be kept intact.

For the next couple of weeks, there is an increased presence of Aiel within the city. Despite this, patrols still go missing in the night, as do most of the observers sent to watch upon those patrols. Anti-Aiel propaganda can be found throughout the streets posted on walls, in taverns and such, reminding the people of what has been done to them, which leads to most refusing to supply information.

Other anti-Aiel groups form, most of which are broken up yet one in particular stands out, calling themselves the Sons of Cairhien, who ally themselves with the guild. Since the Rogues Guild proves too elusive to pin down in any one spot, the Sons of Cairhien soon become the primary target, in hopes that they will lead to the Rogues.

Phase 1: A townhouse within Cairhien has pairs and trios of people entering it at a time, all the while the Aiel are watching from hiding positions. They move in and encounter heavy resistance yet eventually turn the tide, capturing a core group of five people, three of which are nobles (one in turn is a high seat). All are taken away back to the Aiel camp so that the Wise Ones may put them to question.

Phase 2: A pair of gleemen (Aventari and Aran) have been in the Aiel camp for the better part of a week, entertaining the Aiel as they looked at the layout of the camp. Prisoners are brought in, Aventari and Aran decide to use the night to strike and if they can, free the prisoners. Gives a chance to interact with the Aiel on more peaceful terms.

Later that night when most are asleep, the pair deliver their poisons (from memory we decided on noxious powders being secreted amongst the fires to burn up and infect people, the Rogues antidote themselves later) and go to the tent where a Wise One is interrogating the prisoners. She is killed, prisoners are freed and Aran leads the group outside and to safety while Aventari dismembers the corpse and leaves a message for the Aiel written in blood. “Leave.”

Interlude: The Aiel discover a vast number of their people dead in the morning, as well as the brutal murder scene with the Wise One and their prisoners gone. The Aiel, incensed in particular by the murder of their gai’shain, swiftly move on the city. The Rogues as well as the Sons of Cairhien have been preparing throughout the night for this and as the Aiel (7k strong) charge through the city looking for the prisoners and assassins. As they start to spread more thinly, the attacks begin in the Trade and Financial Quarters.

Streets will have been soaked in oil and fired with Aiel on them, bands of rogues hiding in houses will fire upon those below with crossbows, toss caltrops down, etc etc. Lots of Aiel causalties at first before the Aiel begin to rally and clean out the houses.

Phase 3: Ghaul is leading a group that is helping relieve other groups under attack when they are ambushed by the best of the Rogues and the Sons of Cairhien who have learned their position and are hoping that by wiping out the Aiel leadership they will break the Aiel and are willing to risk it on a toss of the dice. Fierce fighting rages, Aventari is run through by Ghaul and shortly after the Rogues and Sons of Cairhien break and run.

Interlude: The Aiel are recalled by the Dragon who has come back as news is brought to him of what is occurring in Cairhien. Aiel are put to dousing the fires and such. That night, the Aiel are heavy throughout the city to enforce order.

Phase 4: Several representatives of those still willing to rebel are smuggled into the palace and seek an audience with the Dragon who has his Aiel in court. During the discussion which follows, the remaining poisoner will be revealed. In order to address the ji lost from the gai’shain dead yet not let the court turn into another bloodbath, the poisoner and the clan chief square off.

Dramatic duel and character stuff, Aran wins the fight but spares Ghaul due to Talbitha. Ji issue is settled by the Car’a’carn’s judgement. Aiel are to leave the city except when accompanying the Car’a’carn and the Legion of the Dragon is formed to occupy Cairhien but to also expand into a force in its own right.

Well, my Sedai is in Cairhein when this takes place and she has recently made the acquaintence of a Stone Dog though she has left her identity as Aes Sedai out of their discussions.

Shaneevae has hopes of observing the Aiel and asking questions regarding the fauna of the Waste. I'm not sure how she would play out in this scenario, but in all reality, she would be in the thick of it whether she wanted to be or not.

James, I'll catch you tonight and we'll see if she can find a place in this RP. It looks very exciting.
