Long time WoT fan, new to DM

Hi all,

new to dragonmount been looking at this site since it began so thought I'd finally sign up. I began reading the series again in preparation for MoL's release but am finding it very hard to start from the beginning. My problem is that no matter how hard I try I just cannot picture the bumpkins that were Rand, Matt and Perrin. The journey they have made throughout the series has seen them grow so much that I found myself lol at rand being scared or the "black rider" in eye of the world. I'm going to stick at it but wondering if anyone else has found the same problem with starting from the beginning 17 years after reading it for the first time?

Welcome to the forums, have a grand ol' time, and check out the Social groups, all that jazz.

 

I'm a relatively new fan, but I do kind of see where you are coming from.

While a lot of you older fans read probably most of the books at a much longer pace from each other, sometimes waiting a few years for the next book to Arrive, I am reading through the series at a much faster pace, with almost no delay between each book, and it does feel like the characters are growing up fast, just a little bit. It did get me thinking of the long-term fans, and how it was kind of like they were growing up with the characters and all.

Welcome Moss! As Tyler said, check out the Social Groups, they are really fun! If you want to discuss theories about the book, look at the general wheel of time discussion boards. The general discussion boards have real life discussion and debates as well as mafia games, and finally if you like RPing, there are some great RP boards at the bottom! Hope you have fun!

General discussions have some amazing debates and conversations, and yes, mafia games. Be warned, they are addictive. If you're a WoT theorist, you'll find some friends there.

 

As for the re-read thing, I have no issue with re-reading, I'm just really bad at it. I'm trying now, but I'll never finish before AMoL comes out... I love going back and visiting the characters again in their youth. I always find a new aspect to the characters because I myself have grown, and because I know what they become.
