So is this show along about the same lines as Grimm?

 

Grimm is more gritty. And contains more realism as far as how the "storybook characters" are portrayed in the real world. OUAT is very much about magic and suspending disbelief. In fact the whole first season is pretty much that, trying to get one of the MC to suspend her disbelief.

So is this show along about the same lines as Grimm?

 

No not at all. Both shows are based in fairytales but there the similarities ends. Grimm is about a man who discovers that he is a Grimm, a person who can see monsters who hides among human kind but look just like humans to everyone else. Now most of these monsters just want to live in peace and is no danger to anyone, but some of them are rather aggressive and the Grimms then hunt down and kill those. Now these monsters are then the source of fairytale creatures. The link to fairytales in Grimm is not that strong and it is a horror/monster hunter show. Once Upon A Time is about the Evil Queen casting a curse that bring all the characters from fairytales to our world, but they also loose their memory and now look human and they have this little town where they live out their make believe suburbia life, no one know they are fairytale characters save one little boy who then try to get his mother to break the curse. This show is mystery/urban fantasy/ drama with elements of high fantasy since the episodes takes place half in the modern world in the town of Storybrooke, and half as flash backs to these characters lives in the Enchanted Forest. Grimm and Once Upon A Time is not even close to similar.
