Tony Larussa announced his retirement from Major League Baseball yesterday, after 33 years as a manager of three teams (Chicago White Sox, Oakland A's, St. Louis Cardinals). During his 33 years Larussa has come to be called one of the greatest, and some argue the greatest, managers of all time. He Won 3 World Series titles. One with Oakland in 1989, and then his two most recent in 2006 and 2011 with the Cardinals. He amassed 2700+ wins and is 3rd all time in victories among managers.

Whether or not Larussa will ever return to baseball as a manager is yet to be seen (though many feel likely). However, the game owes a debt of gratitude to Larussa for the greatness and class he has portrayed over his time as a manger in the League.
