Modern Philosophy came from religion. "I think therefor I am" was a result not a foundation, as many would suppose. The foundation of Decart's (sp?) epiphany was "God can not lie."

I don't dispute this all I am saying is there is a difference between philosophy and religion. They may have arisen out of the same base but they differed along the paths.

 

If they really were the same thing why would universities, colleges teach them as separate papers? If philosophy is just a religion then it would be covered in religious studies and there would be no need for a whole branch of philosophical papers.

 

Anyway I have gone way off OT here so better stop. Apologies to whoever started the thread.
