Full Character Name: Seraph Byar

Part 1 - Out of Character

1.1. Which Ajah do you aspire to join and why?

The Green. Seraph has qualities of a few Ajahs, and I was tempted to put her in the Blue, but she would fit better in the Green Ajah. Because of the injustice that the Children of the Light did against her best friend who had ended up channeling accidentally, Seraph believes that the Children of the Light are darkfriends. She understands that at least some of them aren’t true darkfriends, but someone who is willing to throw away human life for a simple and harmless breech of rules does not walk in the Light. She wants to serve the Light and fight the Shadow.

1.2. How old would you place your Aes Sedai in the Main Timeline? Remember that Sitters must be at least 90 years of Age to sit in the Hall. (Information on the Aes Sedai Aging system is on both the Website and the WT Structure Board)

47 years old

1.3. Have you role-played with any members of your aspiring Ajah? If so, who? What sort of impact did that member have on your character?

Unfortunately, I have not. But I certainly look forward to it! Seraph needs to socialize more.

1.4. Define freely what your character sees to be her Ajah's purpose? Does if differ from the norm?

Seraph’s perception of the Greens is a bit different than the norm. Rather than seeing them as preparing for Tarmon Gai’don, she admires their fight against the Shadow. She understands that they still prepare for the Last Battle and she will do her best to rise to Ajah standards, but the fight against the Shadow now is a noble one, in her opinion.

1.5. What kind of a role would you like your character and you OOCly to have in your Ajah and in the White Tower?

Seraph is a creative sister and uses her talents to excel in strategy and problem-solving situations. She’s still growing as a Green as well and I‘d like her to be involved with as many roleplays with Greens as she can. Being so young for Aes Sedai, she is still a follower of her Ajah.

Part 2 - In Character Development

2.1. What kind of a woman was your character when she was enrolled as a novice and what kind of a woman is she now?

Seraph was a sad and bitter woman when she first came to the Tower. She came out of spite against the Whitecloaks for killing Samya and wanted nothing more than to do anything in her power to fight them. She is now a calmer, more enlightened woman. Now instead of fighting against the Children specifically, she concentrates her energies into fighting the Shadow.

2.2. What have been the most important, defining events in her life and how have they changed her? Separate the events to life before the Tower, life as novice and life as Accepted. Who are the people that have affected her life the most as Novice and as Accepted and how have they done that?

Certainly, the most defining moment of Seraph’s life in general was the death of her best friend at the hands of the Children of the Light. It spurred in motion her motivation for going to the Tower and her want to find her own path away from everything she had ever known.

As a Novice, her guiding light was Valeri Sedai who was there for her when she had questions about the One Power and its nature. They would have discussions when she was confused or when she had a bout of depression from her recent loss. The visits faded over time, but she still considered Valeri Sedai a valuable mentor.

As an Accepted, Seraph’s greatest moments were in her classes. She tried to be a good mentor but serve as a warning for other girls. She also learned a great deal about the world from her students.

2.3. What are your character's weaknesses? Strengths? What is her inner struggle? What is her philosophy of life?

Seraph is dreadfully shy, but she is able to translate that as Aes Sedai serenity very easily. She does have enough confidence to approach someone else after all her training, but she has issues with trust, which she wants to correct. These trust issues have prevented her from finding a Warder.

Seraph is very creative and applies this creativity accordingly in strategies and solving problems. She is able to use this creativity in writing, sketching, and finding minute details others may overlook.

She believes that the ideal of ‘walking in the Light’ has many forms and variations. This is why she doesn’t like the Children of the Light. It conflicts with her creative nature and oppresses everyone, including themselves.

2.4. What three words best describe your character's personality?

Creative, Driven, Introverted

Part 3 - The Role of an Aes Sedai

3.1. What do you think the role of an Aes Sedai is ICly?

The role of an Aes Sedai varies greatly on the Sister involved in the plot given her position in the Tower, her strength in the One Power, and her talents. to the base of it, though, an Aes Sedai is a Servant to All. She is there to serve the world and see to it that her all her actions benefit the greater good and the plight of the Tower.

3.2. What has been the greatest sacrifice your character has made to become an Aes Sedai?

Seraph’s greatest sacrifice was already faced before she set foot in the Tower. The death of Samya was the catalyst that convinced her that she should take action and provided her with the drive necessary to step out into the world and see if she could channel, against everything she had been taught.

3.3. How is your character going to Serve All?

Seraph has the drive of a Green, the sense of justice of a Blue, the compassion of a Yellow, and many more traits that can span the Ajahs, but she chose the Greens because of her past. The Greens, in her mind, are the friends of the Light. They prepare themselves for Tarmon Gai’don and fight the Shadow with all that they do and this is her personal mission as a Servant of All.

3.4. What would you like your character to achieve? What are her ambitions in life? What kind of RP plans do you have in mind for your Sister?

I would like Seraph to overcome her issues in trust and seek a Warder or two. I want her to branch out to people more easily. Her ambitions are to walk in the Light, but in her own rights.

3.5. How does your character feel about Warders in general and of the whole bonding?

Seraph sees Warders as wonderful partners in the Greens’ mission. However, having a Warder involves personal aspects of oneself that she hasn’t dealt with yet. She’ll need a Warder to speak with her and discuss her thoughts with her, to be a friend as well as an ally.
