Description

Hair: Black waves that fall to her waist. It is often seen as unruly because she forgets to brush it but, when she remembers, she pulls it back with a blue ribbon.

Eyes: Bright, clear blue. Oft times her eyes shine with a need, a thirst for, knowledge. Often seen as calculating, her eyes can unsettle you. Those that she feels a friendship with see the softer side of those eyes and enjoy the warmer, deeper blue they become.

Skin: Not overly pale but neither tan. Her skin is smooth and clear, her one good trait from her mother.

Height:5'4". Her shorter stature makes it easier for her to get into the smaller places so she has never complained.

Voice:Soft and precise. Her voice has a quality to it that tells you she doesn't speak a lot, but when she does it is with precise words and an even tone.

Other:Her appearance is only slightly pretty. Her smile is what pushes it to pretty, but she usually doesn't smile. Her form is slender and fits well with her short stature.

Personality: Mylane values knowledge and vies to learn how things work. While she has her short comings, Mylane strives to better herself and her life. Her passion can easily be seen as one of her greater shortcomings. When she is driven to find the asnwer to something, she shuts out the world and everyone in it, unless the coincide with her answer. She is also fiercely loyal and protective of those that she loves. Generally Myl has a tolerant disposition, if a bit harsh, and has even been seen as kind, warm and motherly. The flip side is that she is also seen as cold, calculating and uncaring. She will never admit to having a taste for adventure and her want to see the world.

Optional

Special Skills: Mylane knows how to read and write but she doesn't know her numbers very well.

Weaknesses: Physical Weakness: Being small and slender, she's not very strong at all.

Personality weakness: Her thirst for knowledge leads her away from people and as a consequence, she doesn't have very good people skills. Her passion tends to land her in the kettle a good bit as she doesn't guard her tongue when angered, or calm. She is also envious of the rich.

History

Born the youngest of 4 surviving children, Mylane was doted upon by her mother during her early childhood. When it became apparent that she would survive, the attention ceased. Mylane's father was a clockmaker of considerable skill and strove to teach all of his children his trade. After a few years Mylane decided that she liked books more than clocks and upon hearing this, her father proceded to fill her small library with books.

On her fifteenth nameday, Myl's older brother, Gesan, joined the Queen's Army. Two years later Gesan died in a skirmish near the Blight. Mylane was devastated by her older brother's death and withdrew even more from the world than she already had.

Alder, Mylane's second brother, married and settled down with an inn keepers daugther after Trysta, Myl's sister, gave birth to a bastard child of some random solider. With her family life at odd's with her own, Mylane began to spend her time pouring over her books and absorbing everything she could.

After a time she became quite enthralled with the idea of being able to channel the One Power. She devoured every book she had on the subject and soon became obsessed with wanting to know if she was one of those perfect few. Spending her days watching her father's shop didn't help her plan of finding an Aes Sedai to test her, but she bore her burden with grace and dignity.

It was to her great surprise, and pleasure, when one of the very people she had been wanting to find, found her.--

"Excuse me, child, but could you tell me where I might find the owner of this shop?" The voice was clear and crystalline and it broke into Mylane's thoughts like a knife through cloth.

Mylane glanced up from her book and gasped at the sight in front of her. Tall and slender with hair like sunbeams that fell down her back in glorious curls. "M-my father is in the back. I will be right back with him." She whispered, her eyes widening.

After retreiving her father and returning to her post behind the counter, Mylane took in the Lady's measure. She was surprised to find that she couldn't put an age to the graceful creature. Green silk with gold embroidery up the sleeves and around the low neckline adorned her body. Her eyes were drawn to the necklace- a gold chain with a single, fat moonstone adorning it- lay around her slender neck. Mylane caught a few words from the conversation such as 'gold inlaid' and 'whatever the cost', but the one that made her gasp was 'White Tower'.

"Are you from the White Tower?" Mylane asked, unable to contain her excitement. Her hands were fisted by her sides to keep herself from wringing them. "Are you Aes Sedai?" She asked.

"Mylane!" Her father admonished. "Hold your tongue, daughter." His bushy brows were drawn down in annoyance.

"It is fine." The Lady said, smiling. "Young ones are always forgetting to think before they speak." She turned to Mylane and her smile changed to an indulgent one. "Yes, child, I am Aes Sedai. My name is Alina. You may call me Alina Sedai."

Mylane was riveted. A real Aes Sedai in her father's shop. Light burn her impatience! "What are you doing in our village, Alina Sedai?" She asked softly as awe washed through her.

"Seeking out your father for a clock." Alina responded, her smile fading a bit.

Mylane's face must have given away her disappointment because the Aes Sedai arched an eyebrow and asked, "What bothers you, child?"

Mylane glanced at her father, her blue eyes locking with his before she answered. "I was hoping you were testing girls to go to the White Tower." The steadiness of her voice amazed her.

"You were hoping that I would test you to see if you could channel. Not many girls have the ability to channel. I wonder.."Alina reached back and released the clasp on her necklace as she stepped toward Mylane. "Look into the stone, child, clear your mind."

--Mylane brought her mind back from the past as Alina's voice broke through her thoughts.

"Look, child, the Tower." Alina pulled her horse to a stop, her Warders stopping beside her, and pointed in front of them.

Mylane saw a pure white form on the horizon and raised a hand to the locket her mother had given her. 'Remember' was inscribed inside it and she intended to do that.

"Be careful from here on out, child. The White Tower is no place for weakness." Alina said, her deep brown eyes were hard as stones as she spurred her horse forward.
