hmm...well they did branch off a lot. But they stayed very true to the characters themselves. That's what I like - as the show goes one, they put a lot of emphasis on personalities, honesty and morals in the main characters and it very nice :)

You don't see much of that real genuine-ness in shows these days, and I finks the actors did a fabtastic job of making teh characters very believable. Granted, the storylin is often rather obvious (my mom was predicting stuff at every turn that actually happened several minutes later when we watched it,..so annoying XD), but I  enjoyed the series for what it was by itself, and teh books by themselves too :)
