mat and the horn

I haven't been able to find this here, but is mat still linked to the horn?

he did die, so is the horn unbounded?

idk if this a possibility for the "but"

I'm sure this has been discussed many times but i haven't been able to find it

Hello Oh Great Golden Wyrm from another series (sorry, trying to be funny, no offence intended),

 

This is something that has been debated quiet a bit, I don't have any references on me, and quite frankly, I can't remember every thread address that I read, but from what I HAVE read in other posts and online references, coupled with my own thinking, yes he is still linked to the Horn.

His only "Death" in the series is in TFoH when Rahvin kills him with lightning. Rand subsiquently BF's Rahvin so heavily that it erases the death so his "To Die And Live Again" fortune as come to pass. So basically the way the Pattern see's it now is that he never died, so he's still the Hornsounder.

he died in Rhuidean, was the one i was thinking of as that would be death before the Rahvin one, still not sure if it would unbound him tho

He didn't actually die, though. He was resuscitated by Rand.

He was only "Near-Death" when he was hung, not actually dead

Mat did not die in Rhuidean, he just came close. the only time he actually died was in Caemlyn. This has been confirmed by RJ.

 

And considering how balefire works, Mat should still be linked to the Horn. Not that it really matters though, I can not see anyone other than Mat blowing the horn.
