ok so my birthday is coming up

December 30th, and I'll be the big 40. Now I don't want to stay home for my birthday, I'm a single mom and my daughter is 17 so does anyone have any ideas what i can do to celebrat my B-day/mini vacation.

I've thought of Vegas but its going to be over 1200 for each of us one week plus airfare. I may still do this but I'd rather find something similar for less, so anyone want to plan my celeb-daycation.

now some things I probably won't do much off, window shopping/shopping at all. Eating, besides just quickie stuff.

I like adventure or doing things on vacations, ie be physical. Long drive in a car through pretty sceneary is ok but after 15 minutes i start looking for things to do in the car.

So what have you don't in the past?I'm desprate, help!

nice the skiing idea is pretty good, but i haven't been on skies in 20 years, but my kid would love it shes a snowboarder.

Actually thats sounding like a good v-kay/b-day.

do you know a good resort? you know hotel with the mountain, whole package deal, rental lift room for the week?

Colorado has great skiing, especially in the Veil, Breckinridge, and Colorado Springs areas.

I always suggest Montana to people. I went to Whitefish, MO to visit my sister (my entire family went too) and we went dogsledding (which was awesome!) and snowmobiling, and hiking, and it is absolutely beautiful. I'm not sure if Glacier National Park is open that late in the season, but I would definitely suggest you check it out...it's pure beauty.

I'm guessing we're looking for stuff to do in America rather then Europe :/

Otherwise I'd say to go one of the Greek Islands like Tinos or maybe Crete. For a week stay its pretty awesome. Seafood, beaches, plenty of sun, traditional greek-y stuff. But from America..it'd be hella expensive for flights i#d think

lol Well I'm probably going to insult italians and greeks by what i'm about to say but...

I'm a New York Italian, full blooded from queens, so greek is a little to close to what i live 24/7 rotfl I'm looking to get away from that not submerge myself to a whole county like my family! Oh god shot me now! ggls

for those non greek or italian..telling one or the other how similiar they are to eachother is the closest way to find yourself sleeping under the brooklyn bridge. The two have had an anomsity towards the other for over 2000 years!

So Tink are you greek by any chance? or do you live in Europe? If you don't mind my asking anyway.

  • 2 weeks later...

Mehh! I AM Greek :P Half only. Half Chinese too. But don't worry you didnt insult me. I totally agree even! Yea my background is pretty international and at the moment i'm in Europe. I'm not sure I'd recommend Asia though no matter how much I love it.. How's a resort on the beach sound to you? :)

*winks@her fellow mediterrainian*

mmm actually I've always wanted to visit china, love the asian cultures.

I'm not much of a sit on the beach type of person, I'd rather be hicking to the top of the mountain and exploring then sleeping on a beach.

I can't think of a beach thats available in december thats not going to be packed with poeple fleaing the northern temps!*l* I'm trying to find someplace thats not going to be in the middle of there busy season.

I've checked on some of the maine resort/skiiing v-kays but they are so much more expensive because of the x-mas holiday and new years.

grrr hate my birthday!

Quite eh? Well then over-populated Asia is definitely out eheh. Well to avoid crowds you could always do a nice European tour. Me and my friends did that and had a real blast just hitching from train to train spending a few days in each country :) Ofcourse you'll be doing something more classy then when we were messin :P

I'd probably have more fun just messin then doing a tour, but europe is quite expensive, you know hopping the pond and all that, although someday i am going!! oh yes i will!!lol

besides the anit american sentiment over the last ten years probably better to stay in the states, I have a big mouth and it would probably get me jailed.

lol
