Cadsuane Sedai's Introduction

In my reread of aCoS I came to the part where Cadsuane enters the room with Rand while a small group of AS are present. Cadsuane is introduced by Berelain and as the shock recedes from the AS, cadsuane gives a quick run down of her life since leaving the tower. She then asks if any sisters present were involved in something vile twenty years ago. What is she talking about? Something during the Aiel War? She doesn't give any other clues or anything, she just dismisses it.

What up with that?

I read the several possibilities in that thread, and I'm glad one of then is what I always thought she meant: the illegal gentling of men. To me, nothing else makes sense.

To most Aes Sedai, the deaths in the Tower are nothing more than suspicious accidents, if that. If Cadsuane knew otherwise, either she is BA (and wouldn't admit it to a group of sisters she just met) or she is admitting to knowing of them (something she would never admit to anyone not AS, or to a suspected Black sister)

I also have difficulty with the idea that if she were BA, she wouldn't be in the ruling council... And therefore know of all Black sisters.

But it was still a "vileness". 5 of the tower's most high ranking sisters died. Two of those were top 3 in strength (Meilyn and Kerene were one step below Cadsuane, and a sharp step above Moiraine&Co). Add to that the death of an Amyrlin and you've got some kind of vileness. And add men being illegally gentled, and lots of men of might be channelers dying. Sitters being sent into exile ... Everything added together makes a vileness. Everyone might not know everything about every part of it, and many obviously knows nothing. But it's still strange for those who do know, most likely.
