Universal's 2012 Release Dates

Seems like most of the movies are locked in.

 

Universal Pictures has locked down much of its 2012 film release slate, as well as announcing release dates for two other high-profile projects.

 

First up, Ron Howard's first film in the planned film/TV adaptation of Stephen King's fantasy saga "The Dark Tower" has locked in a May 17th 2013 release date. Also Tom Hanks' recently shot ensemble drama "Larry Crowne" will score a July 1st release next year.

 

Onto the 2012 slate where at least seven of the distributor's planned releases have just been set:

 

February 10th 2012: "Safe House"

The story follows a CIA agent (Ryan Reynolds) who must protect a dangerous criminal (Denzel Washington) when their safe house comes under attack. Director: Daniel Espinosa.

 

March 16th 2012: "Contraband"

The remake of Icelandic movie "Reykjavik-Rotterdam" stars Mark Wahlberg and Kate Beckinsale in the story of a former ice road trucker smuggler pulled back into the game. Director: Baltasar Kormákur.

 

June 1st 2012: Untitled Judd Apatow Project

The first film to be written & directed by Judd Apatow since "Funny People" last year.

 

August 3rd 2012: "The Bourne Legacy"

The new sequel that will not involve Jason Bourne on screen but will center on the fallout of events in the trilogy. Director: Tony Gilroy.

 

November 9th 2012: "Ouija"

The film adaptation of the Hasbro game. No director is yet attached.

 

November 21st 2012: "47 Ronin"

Keanu Reeves stars in the story of 18th century samurai who set out to avenge the death of their master and sacrifice everything to make sure of its success. Director: Carl Rinsch.

 

December 21st 2012: "Snow White and the Huntsman"

Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron are rumoured. Director: Rupert Sanders.
