Full Character Name: Elin Hawes

Part 1 - Out of Character

1.1. Which Ajah do you aspire to join and why?

Elin should join the Red Ajah because it is the Ajah that fits her purposes and her ideals best. The Red is an Ajah where Elin will be able to travel the world and help people in situations like the one that lead to her being forced out of Amadicia. She will be able to go out into the world searching out new channelers, helping those who need to make their way to the Tower (White or Black) and removing the threat of channelers who have gone outside the bounds of safety for the world around them... such as male channelers feeling the taint or women who have set up cells to learn to wield the Power without the Tower.

1.2. How old would you place your Aes Sedai in the Main Timeline? Remember that Sitters must be at least 60-80 years of Age to sit in the Hall. (Information on the Aes Sedai Aging system is on both the Website and the WT Structure Board)

I think I'd place her around 120 years old.

1.3. Have you role-played with any members of your aspiring Ajah? If so, who? What sort of impact did that member have on your character?

Yes. Elin learned advanced Spirit with Rochel of the Red Ajah. Learning the weaves Reds use on a daily basis helped Elin realize that those tools come easily to her, and showed her that she could succeed within the Red.

1.4. Define freely what your character sees to be her Ajah's purpose? Does if differ from the norm?

Elin sees the Red Ajah as perhaps the most public face of the Tower. They travel the world interacting with the widest variety of people because male channelers spring up in the smallest villages and the largest cities. The Red exists to protect the world in the meantime while the Green waits for the Last Battle to defend the world, and the others all have their specialized purposes.

1.5. What kind of a role would you like your character and you OOCly to have in your Ajah and in the White Tower?

OOC... I'd enjoy getting involved in whatever roles are open. If Amadine ever gets tired of being MoN, or if you need a spare bio checker, or whatever. It'd be fun to get involved in most any role. ;)

Part 2 - In Character Development

2.1. What kind of a woman was your character when she was enrolled as a novice and what kind of a woman is she now?

When Elin arrived, she was shocked and constantly afraid that the Aes Sedai would discover "Nile" in her mind/channeling. Now, she is much more secure in herself. She knows her strengths and is looking to grow them. She has made friends in the Tower; she has realized that her family, her past, is behind her; and she is looking forward to making a change for real people.

2.2. What have been the most important, defining events in her life and how have they changed her? Separate the events to life before the Tower, life as novice and life as Accepted. Who are the people that have affected her life the most as Novice and as Accepted and how have they done that?

Before the Tower, her most defining events were that her brother was executed for being a channeler because the rival miller in the town wanted to ruin their family, and that she was essentially smuggled out of Amadicia because she began channeling and people thought she was as cursed as her brother.

As a novice, the most defining event was breaking her block with Kathleen Sedai. Before that, Aes Sedai had tried to logic her out of her block, but Kathleen Sedai actually showed her that she had to be the channeler, not Nile's "presence" with her. Realizing that caused her to lose the ability to touch the source at all, and Kathleen forced her to come to be able to channel on her own via hard work and a lot of frustration.

Her defining events as an Accepted began with learning the more advanced uses of Spirit with Rochel Sedai and then were followed with her personal research into the World of Dreams which lead to a growing bond with Bennu. The two will collaborate on ter'angreal research and the World of Dreams.

2.3. What are your character's weaknesses? Strengths? What is her inner struggle? What is her philosophy of life?

Elin's weaknesses are that she still becomes a bit irrational when it comes to issues dealing with her brother, and by connection the Children of the Light and fire.

Strengths come from the fact that she has learned to fight past her difficulties. She will succeed, even if it means accepting some pain.

2.4. What three words best describe your character's personality?

Determined, Stubborn, and Warm

Part 3 - The Role of an Aes Sedai

3.1. What do you think the role of an Aes Sedai is ICly?

IC, an Aes Sedai exists to serve the greater good with whatever talents she has. If that means Healing leaders, preserving justice, or finding rogue channelers, so be it.

3.2. What has been the greatest sacrifice your character has made to become an Aes Sedai?

She gave up her last connection to her twin when she broke her block, which was her last connection to her family in Amadicia; she then gave up the last of her cultural connections to Amadicia when she gave up the bonnet to fully embrace her role as an Accepted of the Tower.

3.3. How is your character going to Serve All?

Elin will rove the world looking for channelers to help them through the pain of discovering their ability, the danger of being discovered by their friends and neighbors, and working for justice in the world in general.

3.4. What would you like your character to achieve? What are her ambitions in life? What kind of RP plans do you have in mind for your Sister?

Elin truly wants to serve, and if possible get into the World of Dreams so she can find her brother again. For RPs, I see Elin stumbling around the World of Dreams, learning the rules and finding out how to survive; I also see her being the kind of Aes Sedai who finds out about the Black Tower and discreetly brings the occasional male channeler there, if he's not sank into the madness yet, instead of bringing him to the Tower to be Gentled. Once the Towers are at peace, Elin would be one of the first to try to work with the Asha'man.

3.5. How does your character feel about Warders in general and of the whole bonding?

In general, warders are a good idea, but she understands that any man could suddenly show the spark and so would be someone who might need to be taken into the Tower to be made safe for the World.
