Reading the pattern

I have been tossing an idea around for a while, and would like thoughts from others.

 

Siuan Sanche and Nicola both have what seems to be an utterly useless talent. Being able to see Ta'veren. This seems utterly useless. What advantage does this talent have, you get to see an occasional one-in-a-billion people glow. Utter useless upon first appearance.

 

Lanfear is said to have the talent of being able to read the pattern. Could this be the same thing as Nicola and Suian, but in a more developed form. Lanfear and Beidomon were able to bore into the Dark One's prison because they were able to detect a thinness in the pattern.

 

So my general idea is that the ability to see Ta'veren is the undeveloped talent of being able to read the pattern.

I have been thinking the same. But seeing the Pattern is what Min does. She see what it will be like in the future. Lanfear can follow a ta'veren through his Thread in the Pattern. I think she see some threads of the Pattern in what they look like AT THE MOMENT. And I think it is how she drilled the Bore. And how she could mend it too. By seeing the thinness around Shayol Ghul, she could see what need to be healed.
