Rambo is Hanging up his Composite Bow

First "Anchorman 2" got canned, now Sylvester Stallone seems to have conceded that a fifth "Rambo" installment ain't gonna happen.

Stallone has been developing "Rambo 5: The Savage Hunt" for several months based on the novel "Hunter" by James Byron Huggins which he acquired a decade ago.

Now, he tells Empire that "I think Rambo's pretty well done. I don't think there will be any more. I'm about 99% sure... We're already working on an [Expendables] sequel."

'Hunt' would've proved a controversial entry as it revolved around a military project to develop savage super-soldiers and Rambo being called in to track and capture one who has escaped.

The latest one was so bloody, I couldn't believe it.  It was crazy when Rambo literally shot half a guy's head off with a Barrett .50 Cal at close range.  That was ridiculous.  It's probably a good thing; I couldn't deal with seeing his melted plastic face in another movie.  Now, just as long as they don't make another Rocky movie, Stallone will keep his awesomeness in my book.

So apparently another Rambo may be on the way...without Stallone

A few weeks ago Sylvester Stallone said as far as he's concerned he has no plans to play John Rambo again. Then this past week promo posters at the Cannes Film Festival and comments made by Nu Image/Millennium reps indicated the film was happening after all.

Now Stallone has responded to the news with as much surprise as the rest of us. The actor/filmmaker tells AICN that he has no clue as to what's happening with the marketing posters spotted at Cannes.

He re-affirmed that his involvement in a further "Rambo" feature "ain't happening" and he's got the general impression that if he's not onboard, they'll proceed anyway without him and he's fine with that possibility.

I have to ask...what's the point?
