What are series that u LOVED early, that got progessively WORSE and Ended BADLY?

Greg Keyes' KINGDOMS OF THORN AND BONE series. Books 1 and 2 were great, 3 was dull and 4 was just plain terrible.

 

Holy cow, I totally agree. I was so excited by books 1 and 2, and 3 was ok but kind of confusing, and the 4th was like Keyes saying "Yeah, I don't really care how this turns out, let's just wrap this up as fast as we can." So disappointing.

 

I tried reading Kate Elliott's "Crown of Stars" series...but I just lost interest at book 4 or so. I didn't give a rat's butt what happened to any of those awful, 2 dimensional characters anymore.

 

And don't lynch-mob me everyone, but I got through maybe half of "Storm of Swords" in ASOIAF and gave up. That series is just too dark and morose...there was NEVER any ray of light in there...no hope...it just kept getting worse and worse for all the characters. I couldn't take it anymore...and don't get me wrong, I'm ok with things getting REALLY bad before the get good again, but heck, it was just slogging through one downer after another! And I wasn't a huge fan of the porno every other page, but if there had been a point to it, I might have been able to over look it's frequency.
