Hello everyone!

I just finished the 4th book of the series last night (which the last 300 or so pages kept me back for a bit) and noticed this site mentioned on the very back of the book.  I decided to check this out, and noticed a RP section!

I started these books last year, reading one for a month straight and then taking a break for other books.  I enjoy these books (and sometimes have a love/hate relationship with the books) quite a bit.

I'm not going into the discussion board as you guys have mentioned about possible spoilers (and I'm just starting the 5th book) being in there, but I will try to RP here!  I've been RPing for quite a bit, but I just started up the forum RPing recently (originally I was a game RPer, so excuse any stupid things I might do on a forum; I could not be aware of certain forum rules, follow-ups, etc.).  Anyways, I'm still trying to figure out which group to join...  which seems to be a bit tough at the moment.  Due to my fresh start to the books I might not know as much as the rest of you, so please, help would be appreciated.    ;D

Anywho, I think I know what to do to apply for the RPing section(s) here, but I'm still a little confused about a few things...  One might be the fact that there are alot of RP sections in this forum.  Where should I be RPing once I apply somewhere?

Thanks!

Hi Derrin & welcome to DM :D

I just started the 5th book yesterday so how far along the 5th are you? Yeah, it is best to avoid the discussion section but you can still check out WoT Structure discussion - less chance of spoilers there. Yeah, it is very overwhelming esp for ppl like us who don't know much about online community but ppl here are v. friendly & helpful. As for joing the orgs - it is best to visit every org before signing up. For me, I joined the Aiel & White Tower but I will keep it at only two (at the moment) as there are raising requirements for each orgs. As for RPing, I don't have a clue as I never RP before :) Anyway, u can always PM me & I will try my best to help out.

Welcome Derrin! And don't worry, we love new people; no one here will hurt you.  ;)

As for the RPing, I'll have to let someone who does come in here and answer that question. I'm only on the Org side. Tigara does RP, and Ata. Jaydena is in charge of something over there, the White Tower maybe? *laments her lamentable memory*  :D

Anyway, do not fear. People here are very friendly! Just read all the stickies (threads with the blue map pins) and you'll do fine!  :)

*perks up*  Did I hear... RP?!

Welcome Derrin, we always have room for one more down at the bottom.  And I do mean the bottom; the div boards (the out of character discussion boards) are about as far south as you can go here, and the only thing more southern is the actual boards to RP on :D

They hide us down there 'cause we're the coolest *nodnods*

We're currently going into the 10th book of the story arc, but that doesn't mean you have to worry about it - most of the RPing takes place in a way that as long as you have a basic understanding of the series, you'll be able to fit in fine.  And I think we have most of the character bases covered, so feel free to investigate down there, ask questions, and get yourself set up for some good writing fun!

Careful of Jehaine though; she'll write your fingers off *grins*

Alrighty!  Thank you for the welcoming, and I'm sure this will prove a good place to be.

I'm going to try and reply by chronological order...  starting with Lady Annetta.  :D

Good to hear you're on the same book as me!  I just finished the prologue, first, second, and I think halfway through the third chapter.  Or was it second...?  Well, currently I just got past the part where the High Lady from Tear came to Caemlyn, metting with Queen Morgase.  And yes, I'll listen to any advice I get.   ;)

Thanks for the tips, Loreina!  I started guessing those bold-lettered threads were significant... ;D

Sounds great, Raeyn.  Just a question.  The div boards...  aren't there more than one?  How do I know which ones to go to, and if it depends, how often do people RP on this?  I'm a youthful boy that is used to a small forum ran and active with 10 members on it.  Which is quite small, but that might mean I'm not used to how fast/slow the posts could be over here.

EDIT:  Who the duck is Jehaine?  ???

P.S.  Yes, I meant duck, it wasn't a typo.  8)

Well, that depends on what sort of character you want to roleplay :)  If you don't see a div that appears to cover a specific thing (such as the band, the children of the light, congress of the shadows, warders yard, white tower, or wolfkin), it will fit under the freelanders.  You're allowed to make multiple characters, so it leaves it wide open to explore whatever you want (with, of course, certain restrictions that are reasonable and good).

You can get a good overview of things from the stickies on this board:

http://forums.dragonmount.com/index.php/board,4.0.html

And feel free to poke me on MSN (not right now, going to bed!) if you have any questions.  That also goes for any divisions you're interested in; we're all here to assist!

*G* Thanks Lady A! You made my day! *hugs* But others, like Raeyn, are truly awesome, for they understand how this place works. I just occupy space here.  :D    *cheers for Raeyn*

I know I state the obvious Derrin  ;) but you'd be surprised how many people skip the stickies and the bold print threads that say 'read me first'! *nods*

Jehaine is another significant RPer.  :)

Cool!

I'll definitely bug - I mean...  talk to you on MSN sometime if I get any questions on the RP stuff(which I do have a few, but those can wait for tomorrow or whenever).   ;)

@ Loreina

Ya, I can see that happening.  Alot of "dur" kinds of people are out there.  You'll always get one, so might as well make sure I'm not one of 'em.  :D

So you and Raeyn are both in the WT Division, right?  I'm thinking of making a character for the Warders.  I got a question, when you get trained enough to become a Warder for an Aes Sedai do you get assigned to someone who's RPing as an Aes Sedai?

I'm in the White Tower Org side of DM. The White Tower DR Division is the RP side. You could ask Jaydena Sedai that question. Or wait til Raeyn wakes up. She lives in England, the blessed land.  ;D

*giggles*  Thank you Loreina dear :)  And give it another 5 or 6 years, and you might figure out what's going on around this madhouse too!

Derrin - Jehaine is one of our RPers, and she's extremely energetic and has lots of ideas.  Her enthusiasm is a catching thing, and I often stare in amazement to see all she can do in a day :D

As for Warders and White Tower in the RP - no assignations.  Get to know some of the Sisters IC (in character) and OOC (out of character) and in time you'll find someone that perhaps you'll want to bond.  Don't rush it though; it took me a year to find my first bondmate, and I made a friend for life out of it. *grins*

And actually... I'm the Brown Ajah head on both sides of Dragonmount, as well as the assistant RP admin ;)

*hugs Loreina* Derrin, be warned. You'll see a lot of physical affection around here *grins*

OMG, we're exactly at the same place! I just finished that chapter about the high lady of Tear & Morgase. I'm itching to go back to reading but unfortunately I have work stuff to do.

Oh, ok!

I'll probably have to get started with my Warder application, then.  :D

Do you guys have any sort of...  absence penalty?  I love traveling, and plan to go to New York for two weeks starting this coming Sunday.  Would two weeks do anything?

Absence penalty?  Not really; the closest to that is training posts are supposed to be done within a specific timeframe, but most people are generally relaxed about if if they are aware that you're off on a trip and won't have nets :)

That is, unless you're holding a specific role in the storyline, like an Ajah head or one of the few really high fighter posts; if you're gone for too long, those will get taken from you.  But otherwise, you can come and go as you please and pick up wherever you'd like :)

Okie dokie!

I'll just have to not take any big roles until I'm back and only have my farming to do.   ;D

Oh ya, I added your hotmail e-mail on MSN, Raeyn.  I'll try and get quick questions out easier that way.

*G* Not me Raeyn, I have not the brain power anymore. I'll leave that to you young'uns!  ;) :D

:) Smarter as in wiser, yes, but unfortunately, also more forgetful. I find I have to write more and more stuff down to keep track of it. lolz

Of course all things are relative. Even being very forgetful, I'm still much 'smarter' than the average Ogier. *nods*  ;D

Hehehe...  hehe...  ahe.  Ya, I guess you start to forget things easier.  ;)

Anywho, I just posted my application to the Warders Division or whatever it's called.  I think I might've only done 300 or so words, which isn't alot...  but, meh.  I have to get it over with quickly, since I'm leaving to New York in a day or two.  I can't wait for that trip, but I'll be gone for two weeks.  Don't worry, I'll be back soon.  ;D

Welcome to DM!

*stuffs everyone apart from Derrin into a bag*

If you do check out the ORG side, head over to the Band of the Red Hand for a fun filled time! You'll have a blast, and meet some great people! You don't need to be a music or travel boffin either! ;)

But whatever you do, have fun here at DM! :)
