Why are the women in the WoT so overbearingly sexist?

For all practical purposes, AS are very distant from everyday people.

Take the Two Rivers, did an AS ever visit before Moiraine? Maybe, but I don't think so. And yet the men-are-dumb law very strong there.

Political power, channeling may influence the guys higher up but can it influence everyday farmers/fishermen/shopkeepers etc....?

Aes Sedai are few in number, too few at least to tell everyone how to run things. So they set themselves up as advisors to the people in power and ensure what they want is being done indirectly. May take a bit longer until it reaches the bottom of the chain, but it works a lot better than telling Farmer Joe how to run his life.

Speaking of the Two Rivers, i recall the Woman's Circle having quite a say in things as well. And considering the Wisdom is at least as important to the Two Rivers villages as the mayor, the same pattern still emerges.

The Mayor is in charge of the village, the Wisdom and the Woman's Circle backing her hold a large enough sway to ensure what they want gets done as well.

Now replace 'Mayor', 'village', 'Wisdom' and 'Woman's Circle' with 'King', 'country', 'Aes Sedai' and 'White Tower':

The King is in charge of the country, the Aes Sedai and the White Tower backing her hold a large enough sway to ensure what they want gets done as well.

So... How would the Two Rivers differ from the way the majority of countries is being run, when all that's basically different is the scale?
