Nothing says loving like….the KIN!!!

 

Happy Love month Kinsters!!!  LOL  Even for all of those that may boycott or be a bit jaded on the whole Hearts and Flowers and Lover’s themes of  February!!  *smiles*  In reality, Valentine’s Day is about showing affection and philos or agape love.  The love of friendship and of each other!  Eros or passionate love has only been a recent development!  LOL.  Historically, it wasn’t’ about lovers, or romance at all!   

 

That being said….some of our activites and fun this month stems from Valentines!

 

Secret Cupid and Valentine Card Exchange

*bounces*  OH BOY!  We had a great sign up for this!!  Those that did sign up ..you have PM’s with lists, addresses and the name of your Secret Cupid Exchange!  Mail date is by the 9th of February!  Now, you can still sign up for the e-card exchange until the 12th!  Use the same thread..and be sure you PM me your e-mail or put it on the Contact list!!!

 

Love Talkin’…..

So why do we have Valentine’s Day?  Hmmm?  There is actually a history to this holiday that predate the traditions of candy and candlelight!  I will be posting a short history..but then I’d like to open up the discussion to what we all think of Valentine’s Day and how it has become the “Day of Romance”.    We may even have the chance to talk about  love and romance and reality!

 

Random Acts of Kindness

February 17 is National Random Acts of Kindness Day!!!  The Kin is going to practice those acts all month!  The Point Challenge for the Sashes will be to come up with one way to do that on the boards and give those Random Acts to our fellow DM’ers this month!  (See more in the Sash boards….)

 

Kin’s Soup Kitchen

The Kitchen is open at the Farm!  We didn’t get a lot of recipes last month..but a few!!  This month’s topic:  PIE!!!  It is National Pie month!!  LOL  Anything from Key Lime to Apple..to even a Chicken Pot Pie would be a tasty addition!  *grins*  Remember..you get points for your recipes!!!

 

National Library Month

How long since you visited your local library?  Checked out the new books?  Found out what if any changes there have been?  Did you know there is a degree for Library Science?  Including a bachelor, masters and docotorate?  We will be talking about libraries…what they offer the community, how they may have changed in the past several years with the use of the internet and computer!  Dust off that library card and get to reading!!!

 

A Year of Birthday Greetings

In our discussion of looking at this year, we talked about sending each other Birthday Greetings!  We will kick off the idea that was suggested this month!  Every Sash will have three months of the year they are responsible for.  One month every four months!!  We kick this off with the Blue Sash Group sending out the February Birthday Greetings!!  For more info see the Sash boards or the Birthday list at the Farm!

 

Looking ahead….

Be sure to check the Farm and the Knitting Circle when you browse the KIN boards!!  LOL  You just never know what may pop up on them!!!  Celebrate the raisings of fellow Kinsters and check with your fellow Sashies!!

 

We will have a check in later this month…*giggles*  I am a hopeless romantic…not that any of you knew that of course…but towards the end of the month is Read a Fairytale day….and my favorite story and theme is Cinderella!  So be thinking of your favorite fairtytales!  AND…there may be points for anyone who designs us a Fairytale avatar for the month!
