Angreal

So as I was reading, it occured to me that everyone seems to take it as established fact that angreal multiply a channler's strength by a certain number depending on the angreal. Is there a reason for this? I always thought that an angreal just added a specific amount of the power to what a channler could wield. If I'm wrong on this, please let me know!

Don't quote me, but from what I can gather its because of the scene where Rand confronts 7 Aes Sedai. LTT is unsure he can handle 7 'half trained' Aes Sedai, until Rand fondles the angreal. Luckers will come out with the math, so be patient, but basically it is Rand's strength being multiplied by x=7(average AS power)

While we are on the topic of angreal, what are some theories on how they are made?

We have seen that ter'angreal can be made by women, and I would assume men, but we have not been told yet how angreal and sa'angreal are made.

I can't base this on anything, but I'm beginning to think that angreal and sa'angreal can only be made with men and women. It would just seem right that it would take men and women working together. As said many times, when men and women worked together they were able to accomplish the greatest things.

I do want to know how everyone thinks they are made though.

if I had to guess, it'd be a man can make a womans, and a woman can make a man's, it has to do with the way Nyn healed Logain. She bridged a gap with from him to Saidin, and did it wholly, and so I believe that making an angreal is much the same. Adding another lane to the bridge.

And it appears Andrew beat me to posting...

I think of a channeler's strength by numbers up to 50.

For example,

Egwene = 43

Nynaeve = 47

Siuan (after stilling) = 18

Rand = 48

Taim = 46

Narishma = 43

So assuming Choedan Kal is 100 times the channeler's strength.

Nynaeve (with CK) = 4700

Rand (with CK) = 4800

Rand (with Callandor) = 980

and so on...

I also use the same kind of theory for feeling channeling over distance.

CS = Channeling strength

CS = 1 = 1 pace

CS = 2 = 3 paces

CS = 3 = 6 paces

CS = 4 = 10 paces

CS = 30 = 465 paces = 0.465 miles

CS = 100 = 5050 paces = 1.2625 leagues

and so on...

That's how I do it...

Here is a link in which I had a similar question.  I was asking about angreal, but I mistakenly put terangreal.  The title really should be Strength in Angreal.

That helped me and had some good answers.  I hope it helps.
