Movies?

I know this topic has been asked serval times so please forgive. Not trying to sound mean or rude but alot of people become more popular when they are dead then when alive. So in RJ passing will that help in a sense of a movie or tv series being made of the books.

Due to the extreme length of the books, I don't ever see a movie being made...at least not live action ala LotR.  A mini series like the one HBO signed GRRM and aSoIaF to is more plausible.  At this point it would be up to Tor and Harriet as to whether she would like to sell the rights and if the studio would be willing to back the whole thing.  A mini-series with hour long episodes and 12 episodes a year (2 books a year for 6 seasons overall) could maybe...just maybe be enough to die the books justice.  Even that would be gutting out some of the details of RJ's universe.

It may be plausible as an animated or CG setup.  Possibly in fewer episodes than suggested due to the fact that anything on screen can display, in a few seconds, what a book takes paragraphs-pages to describe.  This of course then limits you to the director's imagination/vision.  One of the main differences between books and movies is the limitation of your imagination to envision what the author is saying.  In some cases this isn't a bad thing as some authors paint a poor or even misleading picture.  Of course, RJ much like Tolkien paints such a descriptive picture of everything in the novels that multitudes of different people probably have a near identical idea of what things look like.
