Do we use the old boards, the new boards, or both?

I posted this over on the old boards too.  Don't know which we're supposed to be using.  Some people are still posting in the old boards as if the new ones don't exist.  I honestly don't think they realize the new ones exist.

 

Will there come a time that the new boards will take over?  Or will there continue to be dual boards?  There's probably a post somewhere that would explain all of this to me but I haven't stumbled onto it in oldland or newland.

 

Which are we supposed to use?  :-\

I understand that in principle the old boards are still in use, except that because of the problems with them most everyone migrated here already, and there is little point in migrating back. Also, we were told not to post anything important on the old boards, since nothing new there will be transferred to these boards and may be lost forever after a few months, which of course makes writing a post on the old boards practically impossible. But if you want to post something unimportant I suppose it is still possible to use the old ones, though using many boards is complicated. :-\

We'd like to keep everyone on this board, if at all possible. I know a lot of us are not patrolling that board anymore to lead the way over here. There seems to be activity over there but you may as well call it abandoned until its taken down or whatever.

Could the mods over there put a sticky at the top of the old boards that says something like "THESE BOARDS WILL BE PHASED OUT."  And then explain in the post what's going on.  Quite a few people are using the old boards and obviously don't know they will be eliminated.  Just trying to help.  ::)

Until Kath or Mat posts saying exactly "whats the what" for that board, I am not inclined to run over there and do that, and it's not a Mod's job but an Admin's job to make that decision or post something along that lines... unless they tell a mod to do it.

 

But what would be helpful is to nudge noobs to come here but... be careful NOT to set a link to this board over there. If you want to give them this board write out:

 

http:[//]forums[dot[dragonmount[dot]com/index[dot]php

 

This way it's not clickable and the porn bots won't recognize it and pick it up.  ;)

 

AND there is a strong possibility I may be completely wrong and I'll be thrown in the pudding mines, never to be seen again.

The old boards might be history.

 

I went into DM the way I used to and clicked on the forums option...it brought me here instead of to the old boards.

 

Still don't see the old board smilies, though. :(
