New Beginnings

There had rarely been a time in his life when Ursana Than Sakhr felt like things were out of his control. His life had been exactly what he wanted, where he wanted, and everything had fallen in just as he had expected it to. Until, of course, Tar Valon and Rosheen. Well, Rosheen had always been the one thing that went against his nicely placed life. Somehow in avoiding a meeting with his sister, he had managed to get attacked, healed, left in Tar Valon and had... in a still confusing and life altering moment... found himself signing up to train to be a Tower Guard.

Maybe that was the reason he had always avoided Rosheen. She made things happen that you never expected. At least that was how he remembered it. Now, his bags unpacked and left to his own devices, Sana was trying not to rethink his decision. He had always been rather impulsive and went with his feelings more than his head. So instead of letting doubt consume him, he walked out of the room and into the general dorm area.

Other trainees mingled there and he took a seat to himself, watching them and waiting to see if he could find a way to introduce himself to someone or if someone would notice him.

((Open to all! Just trying to get to know some people!))

Shawn had just met with Ginae, the Mistress of Trainees. Not that he had been in trouble or anything. Quite the contrary. He had been there in a more official capacity, as Captain of the Blue Team. It was his job, under the Ginae's authority of course, to see to the training and conduct of his team members. He took his position seriously, as he considered it a part of his training, a way to learn extra responsibility.

They had discussed many things in that meeting before they finally got around to the reason she'd called him in. It seemed that there was a new trainee in the yard and he'd been assigned to Shawn's team. Ginae warned him that the boy's sister was Rosheen, a blademaster with quite a reputation for having a short temper. Shawn couldn't help but wonder if that was to be a family trait. If so, he'd have to work especially with the trainee's mentor, between them they ought to be able to iron out any problems in that area.

When Shawn returned to the dorms he noticed an unfamiliar face sitting on a bench. Yet, Shawn had spent some time training with Rosheen and was able to notice a small family resemblance. He looked lost and at least a little confused. This must be the trainee Ginae had spoken of.

Shawn walked over and held his hand out in greeting, "You must be Ursana Than Sakhr. Name's Anwashawn Ellasser. You can call me Shawn. I'm the Captain of the Blue Team, which you may or not know that you're a part of. I've trained with your sister. Is she the reason you're here or was there something else?"

Ursana looked up at the man that had spoken to him. He gave him a warm smile, taking the offered hand and shaking it. "Call be Sana. Everytime someone calls me Ursana I look for my mom and find myself trying to remember what I did that made her call me by my full name." His smile showed that the words were in jest and he looked the other man over quickly. "Why I'm here? Well... my famliy came to visit my sister. I got... left behind." He said, trying not to shake his head at the whole ordeal. "Decided to take the time and see if life here as a Tower Guard might be worth something. What about you? What brought you here?" He asked, hoping that this conversation would at least make him an ally, if not a friend.

"What am I doing here? Well, my family was lost at sea and my foster parents were killed by Whitecloaks. I spent some time with the Tuathan but was sent away for killing two men who were attacking the children. I'm here because I have to protect people and to do that I need training. Don't ask why I have to protect others, I'm not really sure. All I know is that I have to do it." Well, that wasn't a full answer but it would do. Shawn had learned in his time at the Yards not to divulge too much too soon and he still didn't know Sana all that well.

Ursana smiled again. "You sound like you've been around. A fellow traveler. My family has a trade caravan." He looked around at the room, then back to Shawn, his... team leader... "I've never been in one place very long, always moving on with our goods to whoever needed us. I'm not sure how it'll be, settling into one place. Maybe i'll like it. Maybe i'll go stircrazy and start jumping from the rafters. At least it's something new though, and I always felt if you weren't trying new things you weren't living." He confided.

Ursana smiled. "I'll remember that, if I ever feel like I need a beating. Though from what i've seen of the yards, i'm not sure i'll need to go looking for one. My sister walked me around a little and I get the feeling i'm gonna be black and blue as soon as I start training."

He looked around the room again then back at Shawn. "But tell me there is something here besides fighting. Tell me you guys know how to have a good time too. I don't think I could take all this working hard if there was no playing hard to."

Deneira was once again, leaving the office of the Mistress of Trainees. She thought that once a day was more than enough for Ginae to see her. Light, she might as well just get a cot in the office... at least it would save Ginae in paper and ink, and Deneira wouldnt waist her time and energy running to the office.

At least this meeting had been somewhat... civil. Apparantly, Deneira had been raised to the rank of Lieutenant for the Blue Team. The light only knew why she was chosen, but she was, and so she had to go meet the captain... Shawn. She had never met him, at least not properly, but had seen him. Over the past few months of training with Aran, he had introduced her to Lyv, who was the teacher of Shawn. So, they knew eachother in the end.

She returned to the trainee quarters to find Shawn and another boy. She listened to the conversation for a moment, then stepped up to answer the question of the other boy. "Depends on how much trouble you mind getting into and the punishment you will take."

Smiling at the boys, Deneira turned to Shawn, and offered her hand. "Lyv's trainee, right? Well, I am Deneira... your Lieutenant. Nice to meet you Shawn."

She turned to the other boy, and offered her hand to him. "Like I said, Deneira, Blue Team, Lieutenant. And you are?" Light, he looked familiar...

And then her hands was offered to him as well. "Like I said, Deneira, Blue Team, Lieutenant. And you are?"

Sana took the hand with a firm shake. Light, if he'd known Tower Guards looked like this, he'd have visited Rosheen a long time ago. He reisited the urge to try to capture her hand and kiss it lightly. It was far more his style than a hand shake, but he knew where he was and was very aware that she could probably kick him to the ground anytime she wanted. It struck him as funny and he smiled at the his Lieutenant.

"Ursana Than Sakhr. You can call me Sana though. My mom and my sister are about the only ones who call me Ursana. And nomrally it means I better run for cover." He said with a grin. "And i'm a brand new trainee for Blue Team."

Deneira was embaressed of her mistake, but covered it easily. She just had a presence that would let her hide what she didnt want seen... and she didnt want them to see her blushing face. "Corin? Oh, I have heard of him from Aran, my friend. He is a tower guard. I cant wait to be one, im sick of being a trainee!" She smiled at Shawn for a moment, then turned back to Sana.

"So, you say that you are new to the yards... know anyone here? And who is your mentor? I swear, your last name sounds really familiar." She smiled at them both, knowing that she had grabbed their attention faster than a trolloc on the Tinkers.

Ursana smiled back at her. "My mentor is Sovuld Rul. As for my name, I imagine it might be familiar. I don't think there are too many of us here in Tar Valon. However, you might know my sister. She's a Tower Guard." He said proudly. "Her name is Rosheen Than Sakhr." He waited then to see what reaction, if any, his sister's name caused.
