i

what about So You Think You Can Dance? i loved that one.

I LIVE for SYTYCD!!!! They swapped it around with Dancing with the Stars this year. I was looking forward to ushering in Spring with SYTYCD' date=' but I guess we have to wait just a little longer. And see, I can handle their audition process because they don't drag it out near as long as American Idol does. You can bet your sweet bippy that I'll be starting a thread on that one when it starts. And the dancer in me thinks it's FANTASTIC that we now have not one but TWO dancing shows rotating throughout the year.[/quote']

*nodnod* ... i, for one, am ecstatic i finally figured out that tv providers actually know what they're doing. now i don't gotta do any work except when i choose to; they do it all for me.

So this is fun, talking about tv. How does one join the Seanchan? I'll admit that I was put off from even lurking in this org because I automatically assumed Seanchan are like the book charcters and are gonna make me shave my head and paint my pinkynails or something.

i left it to someone else to answer because i already answered you somewhere else. & b/c you didn't need me to answer you. you ish doing perfectly.

Click on Seanchan, you will get a listing of people.. then click "Join this group" or something like that... and then you are in. We have no steps on our boards....

As to Rank... well everyone that joins SC starts out as an Associate... you can only move up when the books are open and Family members vouch for you...well.. if there were even a Family, you know.

Shandi - Man, I don't hate her, but she's just so awkward. I'm not feelin' it. I bet she gets the boot next.

John. - Hee hee, I liked it. It was a little boring compared to what we're used to seeing him do, but it was cute.

Clyde - Ok, I'm sorry, but I think Clyde's not very good. However, I have to give the man Mad props because A. he's a man and B. he's a TALL man. It's awkward for a man who's never danced before to learn this stuff. And it's really friggin' hard. Add to the fact that he's really tall and it just compounds things. I think that his instructor needs to learn something about basketball and use his training to an advantage. Figure out how his athlete training can translate into dancing. If she's a good instructor, she'll figure it out.

Layla - Ok, she broke the rules. Damn. I hate that. Because she looked awesome. Again she brought her "A Game." And again she looked fantastic.

Apolo - Wow. Other than being just a little off beat at the very beginning, he brought his "A Game" as well. And he's just so cute! Like pinch those cheeks cute.

Joey - Mad geek props for the Star Wars dance. It was cute. Ok, and the judges haven't said anything about it, but he stuck his head out like a turtle throughout that whole dance. He needs to roll those shoulders back.

Ian - Bwahahahaha! Ok, I heart Cheryl! She took Ian to learn to move his hips from male strippers. It was pretty funny. It was a pretty cute dance. I like Ian.

Leeza - You know, Tony's really good at knowing his partner's skill level and choreographing FOR that skill level. It was very simple and very beginner and therefore a little boring, but she did well. I can't say that it was bad at all, but far under the skill level of some of the other dancers.

Heather - Eh. I think it was a little sloppy. I mean, it was impressive because of the leg thing, but I didn't really like it. It was all over the place. I kind of feel like the judges are just kissing her butt every week.

Billy Ray - Awww, poor guy. You could see him counting. Ok, so that dance consisted of Karina dancing and Billy Ray just taking huge steps around. It wasn't that good.

I want so much to like Billy Ray because he is who he is and I was linedancing my butt off back during the whole "Achey breaky Heart" thing, but he's just not good! You really can tell he tries, (I saw him counting, too) but he just seems to have the dancing skills of a drunk lama.

And is it just me, or do that show a heck of a lot more leg shots of Heather Mills than they do the others? Maybe the camera guys are watching for it to fall off, too. But I work with people with disabilities and most of the time they don't want special treatment because of their differences. Heather should be treated like any other contestant.

One more thing. Did Leeza Gibbons flash the judges? They cut away right as she went to show them her tattoo and then there were all these Janet Jackson jokes, so i was confused. Did they cut away because of the 2 sec. delay thing? Just my two cents.

this is true for every Org now. & i've heard it's true for the RP side as well.

but there are always cases where it isn't, depending where you're coming from ;)

Weeellll...

To join the band ranking system you have to read some rules and respond to a post.

In order to RP, you have to submit a bio to be approved.

I am sure there are other examples, but you get what I mean.

I think they're hyping the leg thing for the drama. I mean, if they weren't continually mentioning it you'd never really know!

also... I have comedy central on in the background and just busted a gut when Colbert came out to sing "On The Road Again" with Willie Nelson. HIlarious.

You'd think that with all the money they are making off of this show, they could afford to hire some decent camera men! They didn't even know who to show during the results. Not to mention how we got to stare at the ceiling the night before.

Leeza didn't flash the judges, I don't think, she just pulled the top of her dress down a little to show her "Tramp" temp tattoo. She didn't even show any cleavage. But they harped it up like she had flashed them. It's the whole sex sells so they want to make the squeakey clean show seem as though its sexy (and sometimes it is with the latin dancing *fans self*).

And yeah, they do show Heather's legs more often. There's an obvious fascination with the leg. And I really dont like how they keep playing her up as so good. She's good for having an artificial leg, but she's not nearly as good as the decent dancers on the show, like say Layla. And really, neither is Leeza. I don't think she deserved 8s across the board one bit - either one of them.

Ok, so was the camera snaffu on Monday night really an operator snaffu? I missed the bit of the dance where Joey screwed up and they talked about it like he fell or nearly fell or something, so I figured the ceiling shot was because he nearly ran into a cameraman or something. But again, I missed it. I only looked up when the camera was coming out of the ceiling shot. But overall, yeah, they need new cameramen. They aren't framing a lot of the dances well. Sometimes its hard to see the moves of the dances because they're more focused on the faces and "good sides" of the celebrities than filming to accentuate the dances.

I'm with you all the way. I think that way to big of a deal is being made over Heather. However, I do like Layla.

OK, I'm going to have a Great Carnac moment and pick my top three:

1. Joey

2. Ian

3. Layla

Agree? Disagree?

I hate that I like Joey in this. I find him terribly annoying, but he is a good dancer. I've missed Ian and Layla, since I've only been watching in snips and clips.

Agreed! In no particular order, that is.

Dangit!!!

I had the whole thing written up and then I accidentally closed the window instead of minimised it.

*sigh*

Oh well, I guess I'll attempt to re-cap the highlights.

Lots of stinkers this week. Leeza was terrible, but she looked AMAZING. That woman is an inspiration to older women everywhere! Granted she has personal trainers out the wazoo, but still.

John's dance was cut off for me due to an Amber Alert, but from what I saw and heard from the judges, it was pretty terrible. I'm so sad for edyta. She's the best professional female dancer of the bunch in my opinion. I would really like for her to win one year.

Apollo's waltz was very sweet. It was everything a waltz should be. Emotional and romantic. It made me a little misty eyed.

Ian's walz was good as well, but it paled to Apollo's because it lacked some emotion. But I was really proud of him and how he was able to be dapper and such.

Billy Ray, oh dear. it was entertaining at least. Not near as bad as John or leeza. It was fun to watch and you can tell that he's really trying.

This week Heather impressed me more. They did the waltz, so they couldn't rely on fancy tricks. She just had to dance. It wasn't great, but for the first time, I felt that the only thing that was holding her back from doing really well was actually her leg. I mean, it just KILLS me to see that foot unpointed! "Point Your Toes" has been branded into my head since the 2nd grade from Ballet class to kick line. But that's honestly something she can't change, so I have to make myself get over it. Her other problem is that she needs to loosen up her shoulders, but honestly, she's not the only one having trouble with that, so it doesn't bother me nearly as much with her. I figure it's partly because she's terrified she's going to fall down. That would make me a little stiff too!

I'm ready for Clyde to go. He's half assing it.

This week I wanted to SLAP Maksim! What on Earth was he Thinking with that awful fluffy music???!!!! It ruined the whole Paso! He and Layla could have been HOT together and he screwed it up.

Joey cracked me up at the end of his dance, pointing at his tucked in bum. He did a really good job. It wasn't sexy at all, but I don't know if Joey really has a sexy bone in his body anyways. But it was good. His posture improved as he finally became really consious about it.

Did I leave anybody out??

I am so with you on the Layla and Maksim music. I hated it from the first note! I felt like this wouldl have been a great dance for Layla but the music didn't even give them a chance.

I loved loved loved Heather's dress! Beautiful without being scandalous. And I hate to admit it, but I liked her this week. It was a fundamentally good dance, even though she looks constantly anal retentive.

Billy Ray really gave it his all this week. If he goes home, it won't be for a lack of effort (like Clyde).

I found Leeza disturbing. She is supposed to have such a wholesome facade and that outfit was just, well... It's like when your aunt comes to the Halloween party dressed as a hooker. Yeah she has a good body, but it just looked WRONG!

Apollo was good, Ian was OK, and of course Joey was great (butt and all). But I have to feel bad for John. I didn't think that it was that bad of a performance. I mean, compared to the token older guys of previous seasons (Jerry Springer for example) I think that he is doing great. He doesn't seem to be just going through the motions. I think that he really wants to win and is actually doing all that he can. Maybe next week they should have guest judges Ted Danson, George Wendt, and Rhea Pearlman.

Well, Leeza is gone and I must say, good riddance. She had all the energy and electricity of a rusty AA. But her exit got me to thinking, can an older woman win this competition? All the older women have left surprisingly early (i.e. Lisa Rinna) so is there a double standard in the world of ballroom dancing? Can an older man do better than a woman can expect to do?

There may be a double standard, but I don't think it has to do with age, necessarily.

It's all about expectations. We expect women to be able to dance. We don't typically expect men to know how to dance. So when we see a woman who is not moving those hips or able to really get into the groove, then we write her off. But we are impressed with even the most elementary mastery (or even attempt at mastery) of dancing moves from a man of any age. Especially if he's an older man.

I wish Clyde had gone before Leeza. I think he is benefitting from the sports star vote. America loves an athlete who turns into a twinkle toes. Probably because he's already and underdog in their book more so than anyone who is just "older."

Oh, this is definitely more of a popularity contest than a dancing competition. Why else would that rapper guy (can't think of his name)have stayed on the show for so long last season.

ok, so most of this show I missed due to getting home late, but here's what I saw:

Joey: Great job, but there's just not a sexy bone in that guy's body.

John: He had so much fun and I loved watching the dance! But he's not getting any better, in fact, he did well the first week or two and then he just hasn't done very well since.

Layla: Whooo! sexy sexy. But not near as sexy as I was hoping. I enjoyed the crap out of it though.

Apollo: oh my goodness, THIS is what I've been Waiting for!!! A couple to just blow us outof the water! It was SO awesome! Joey and Ian had better watch out. Apollo may very well win this thing and he doesn't have near as large a fan base as either of them do. I may actually vote starting tonight. And Apollo is now on the Top of my voting list!
