Sometimes even when you've fought your best....

It is with great sadness that I tell you that the Dragon is gone. RJ left us today at 2:45 PM. He fought a valiant fight against this most horrid disease. In the end, he left peacefully and in no pain. In the years he had fought this, he taught me much about living and about facing death. He never waivered in his faith, nor questioned our God's timing. I could not possibly be more proud of anyone. I am eternally grateful for the time that I had with him on this earth and look forward to our reunion, though as I told him this afternoon, not yet. I love you bubba.

Our beloved Harriet was at his side through the entire fight and to the end. The last words from his mouth were to tell her that he loved her.

Thank each and everyone of you for your prayers and support through this ordeal. He knew you were there. Harriet reminded him today that she was very proud of the many lives he had touched through his work. We've all felt the love that you've been sending my brother/cousin. Please keep it coming as our Harriet could use the support.

Jason will be posting funeral arrangements.

My sincerest thanks.

Peace and Light be with each of you,

Wilson

To Catalyst: Never, never loose faith. RJ did not. Harriet hasn't. I haven't. Going through what we have, our faith is only strengthened. Besides, if God didn't exist, we would have never had Jim. We did. God does. Remember my Brother/Cousin, my friend, think of him fondly and glorify God's name.

Editor's Note:

The entire staff of Dragonmount.com would like to extend its most deepest sympathies to Robert Jordan's family. He touched all of our lives in some way and we wish him the rest and peace he deserves. We will be posting information in the near future about where you can send condolences. Please check the News Section for these updates.

[...] Not easy words for me to write. He gave it the good fight but in the end, as we all eventually will, he lost the battle. [...]

I have read and re-read his entire series each time a new book came out. I was deeply saddened to hear of his passing last year. I pray that his soul is at peace with the Creator. And I will re-read the stories over and over again. I hope that the rumors are true and that Memory of Light will be published next year. I can't imagine not finishing the world that he started.

I just learned for Mr. Jordan's passing... I was interested in seeing if Book 12 had been released and did a Google Search and learned of the heartbreaking news. I started reading the "Wheel of Time" Series in 2003 when I was put to bed-rest during my final pregnancy. If not for WoT, I would have never made it through that long 3 months. Then with each book I felt I became obessed with them. I regret to say I don't have the complete series, as I checked most of them out at the library.

I know it has been nearly a year since Mr. Jordan's passing, but I wanted to wish my condolences to his family, his friend's and his fans. I am saddened and with a heavy heart, as my mourning of Mr. Jordan has just begun. He was a wonderful author, and a great man. May peace light your way!

Hello,

I can`t begin to express how much Roberts` writings have impacted me. When I heard about his passing, I was so very saddened. My husband had been into his books and thought that I would like them because of the "women" in them. Yes, I did!! I was hooked immediately and loved every book but especially fell in love with the main characters. Robert brought these beings to life and I looked forward to all of their experiences. Related to them! As I go thru my life in NYC, I find myself wondering how Nynaeve would deal with this or how Matt might look at this situation..Crazy? I don`t know..all I know is that Robert Jordan had a way connecting and I took the bait.

I can`t wait for the final book. Thanks for your passion and for continuing the journey!

Sincerely,

Andrea Kooharian-Simpson

[...] Robert Jordan passed away last September 16, 2007. If I remember correctly, he died from complications from Amyloidosis (sp?). For those who don’t know who he is, he is the author of one of the most popular Fantasy book series called The Wheel of Time. It’s my favorite book series and Jordan is (and will always be) my favourite Fantasy author. Now, this happened at the midst of him trying to complete the 12th and last book. It is so saddening that he couldn’t complete the series. It was a very mighty task for him to try to finish the last book with his illness, but, he tried his best to finish it. Anyways, I just hope that someone finishes it, coz I’ve read the book so many times since 2001. [...]

It is a sad and trying time for all of those who followed Mr. Jordan. He will be sorely missed and his spark of creativity and life will be sorely missed by those he touched in his life, through his work, and most of all his family. I will miss him because of the vivid and imaginative world he portrayed, and the little amount of color he gave to me, and his fans in this grey wotld.

He will be missed by one and all

...but never forgotten.

My deepest sympathies to your family. Robert Jordan was one of the best fantasy writers of all time. Nowadays, there are very few you can truly pull off doing a great series. I hope that you all are successful with the last installment of the series.

WOT Family,

Thank you for keeping RJ's memory and spirit alive. Roses from his garden adorned his resting spot this afternoon. I know he was watching, though he had to take a break from telling the Angels and Saints yet another story.

RIP Brother.

can't believe it's been a year. Rest well in the heavens RJ. Know that your memory is honored, and your work shall still lives on as the link between your ideals and reality. though someone new has picked up the pen, through him is your instrument to finish your greatest work. Rest well.

I picked up "A Knife of Dreams" off of my floor where I had hastily dropped it a few weeks ago intending to read it after I finished another book. I started reading it a few days ago, and did not realize that it was the anniversary of R.J.'s death. Maybe he was telling me to give it a read to take my mind off of whatever everyday mundane thing was running through it at the moment. Anyway, I am still grateful for the gift of his writings and always feel humbled by what a talented storyteller he truly was. Rest in Peace.

I came across this blog posting while seeking to find out when Book 12 would be publish, needless to say I'm shocked to hear that RJ passed to the next plain a year ago. While I wish the series had been finished through him, I will reluctantly and in his memory continue to watch for the next book in the WoT series...See you when the wheel turns your way again RJ! In honored memory shall you always be for us all.

I am a retired cop and a former combat Marine. I live in the real world, and not always in good parts of it.

I have never been a "fan" sort of a guy, and I don't like the internet. However, the loss of Mr. Jordan last year caused me to locate this site.

I also don't post on internet forums much but somehow felt compelled to note in here that I am currently re-reading the entire WoT series in anticipation of the bittersweet arrival of "Memory of Light". Because I have read all the books four times previously I don't tend to "gulp" the story now but to sip slowly so as to enjoy all the subtle flavors of this work that has given me so many hundreds of hours of pleasure. I wish I had had the opportunity to tell Mr. Jordan in person how much his work has meant to me.

God bless and warrior's rest.

I feel like an idiot for finding out about Mr. Jordan's passing so late. I can't believe he's gone. The Wheel of Time series has been a part of my life since I discovered The Eye of the World in 1989. My belated condolences to his family and may he rest in peace.
