Sometimes even when you've fought your best....

It is with great sadness that I tell you that the Dragon is gone. RJ left us today at 2:45 PM. He fought a valiant fight against this most horrid disease. In the end, he left peacefully and in no pain. In the years he had fought this, he taught me much about living and about facing death. He never waivered in his faith, nor questioned our God's timing. I could not possibly be more proud of anyone. I am eternally grateful for the time that I had with him on this earth and look forward to our reunion, though as I told him this afternoon, not yet. I love you bubba.

Our beloved Harriet was at his side through the entire fight and to the end. The last words from his mouth were to tell her that he loved her.

Thank each and everyone of you for your prayers and support through this ordeal. He knew you were there. Harriet reminded him today that she was very proud of the many lives he had touched through his work. We've all felt the love that you've been sending my brother/cousin. Please keep it coming as our Harriet could use the support.

Jason will be posting funeral arrangements.

My sincerest thanks.

Peace and Light be with each of you,

Wilson

To Catalyst: Never, never loose faith. RJ did not. Harriet hasn't. I haven't. Going through what we have, our faith is only strengthened. Besides, if God didn't exist, we would have never had Jim. We did. God does. Remember my Brother/Cousin, my friend, think of him fondly and glorify God's name.

Editor's Note:

The entire staff of Dragonmount.com would like to extend its most deepest sympathies to Robert Jordan's family. He touched all of our lives in some way and we wish him the rest and peace he deserves. We will be posting information in the near future about where you can send condolences. Please check the News Section for these updates.

I still can't believe it. Reading other people's comments has made me cry, one of the many times that Robert Jordan has made me cry over the years. I cried when i read of Moiraine's tragic sacrifice and countless other times throughout The Wheel of Time, and i cried the moment i heard of this great man's death, shedding a silent tear in the back of a Dymocks store where moments ago i had been unknowingly enquiring about when Jordan would be finishing the last book of the series.

Robert Jordan and his wonderful stories came into my life years ago, when my grandfather in America (i live in Australia) sent me Crossroads of Twilight simply because my name happened to be Jordan. And thus i searched out the previous books, and my life has been so much richer and my imagination so much more fantastic because of it.

I thank you with all my heart Robert Jordan. You saved my life.

A few years ago, my girlfriend and I went to the University of Toronto for a spoken word session with RJ. It was a great treat to meet one of my all time favorite authors, shake his hand and have him sign my books. I think back to that night very fondly, especially now that he's gone. I remember that evening very clearly. We had a very animated Q&A session regarding the many WoT topics, and he was lively, friendly, funny, enthusiastic, sincere and honest for the entire duration.

At the end of the event, we lined up to have our books signed. When my turn came up, I was happy enough to give him a solid handshake and thank him for the excellent novels. However, my girlfriend, (who just happens to be a fiery redhead with a temper to match) asks him "I really love your novels Mr.Jordan, but I have to ask you. What makes you think three women are going to share one man?". Fists on her hips, she was picturesque Elayne, the entire scene was ironic beyond belief.

RJ sat comfortably, wearing a small smile. He responded, "Well my dear, because at one point there were three women sharing my affections, so why not The Dragon Reborn?"

We all had a good laugh. Such a vibrant man. We'll miss you terribly. Thank you for all your hard work. Our thoughts and wishes for wellbeing go out to your family.

Dear Harriet, thanks for letting us have so much of him while he was here! My two sons (age 18 + 21) are much better men because of what "RJ" gave us in WOT. Thank you, thank you, thank you! I had the pleasure to take my sons and meet RJ in person at a booksigning in Dayton, Ohio on 10-21-05. He mesmerized the 70 seated folks and all the rest standing who packed the store. We had front row seats. One of my best memories. Warm Thoughts... Steve

i just heard the news a little over week ago and i nearly burst into tears.

the first thing i thought of was his wife and i send a dozen hugs to her.

the next thing is how much Mr. Jordan has done for me. A while back for 3 1/2 long years i suffered a heavy depression and it was due to my best friend, harry potter, and the Wheel of time that i kept my self whole.

thank you SO much Robert Jordan so bringing life to the lifeless, and to Harriet for suporting him.

i wrote a lil tribute to him on my bebo <3

First of all, I want to extend all the warmth and empathy of my heart and soul to Mr. Jordan's family, even though about eight months have passed since this great man has passed on. I never knew him, save through his works, but reading this announcement brings tears to my eyes, as if I had known him all my life.

When I first received the first three novels of The Wheel of Time this past Christmas, I didn't know what to expect, as I had never read any of this series. But when I read the Prologue of Eye of the World, I knew that this was going to be a series that I would never leave behind.

So I have to say with great certainty from the depth of my immortal soul, that we have lost a very great person in this world, yet keep a piece of him here through what he has accomplished and given the world. And I look forward to the day when I can finally meet him in Heaven.

Rest In Peace, Robert Jordan. May The Wheel of Time spin its Pattern, and everything work out alright.

One of my friend's called me at work and told me, I felt so hollow inside. My heart goes out to his family in this sad time, and it also goes out to my brothers and sisters who have been joined together in the great gift he has given us. I'm sure you have all had a similar experience, from the moment I turned the first page in The Eye Of The World. It changed me. I have become a better person because of it. I discovered the Robert Jordan books not long ago and came to this website to learn more. I was in a state of shock when i learnt about Jordan's death. He has been an inspiration to many. I hope he is in peace, where ever he may be. I wish his family all the best, though it must be hard for you. I admired Robert Jordan's imaination and his power to bring warmth to every word he wrote.

It has been a long eight months since his passing. I'll never forget the first time I picked up one of his books. Lord of Chaos had just been released in paperback, and I was looking for a new book series to read (during a lull in Terry Brooks' Shannara series). What drew me to these stories was the length. I consider myself an avid reader, and have bought book series merely for the size of the story (Tad Williams, Terry Goodkind). Each new book release from him was an exciting return to a world so detailed, so memorable, that it was actually real.

When I saw online that "Fantasy Author Dies", before even reading I knew. I didn't know about his illness, I didn't know that it was coming. I just knew: knew that the world wouldn't be the same. I'm rereading the series currently, as I never got the chance to read Knife of Dreams. It's as good as I remember. Better.

We'll always miss you, and thank you for sharing your vision with us.

I found out recently that Robert Jordan died...I havn't even finished the series yet, I'm only on book eight A path of Daggers, I saddens me that he never got a chance to finish his epic tale. It will remain a legend among books for all fantasy readers. I offer my deepest condolences to his family.

Though he is gone he is still touching lives. After reading every single chapter in the WoT series, I have passed it on to several others in my family as well as to friends. We all agree that this series is beyond just well written. It is an epic story that pits good against evil in a classic struggle to save all that a person loves and holds dear in life. Much like Mr. Jordan, Rand has struggled against outside forces and those within him. He has held onto the important things in his life and, as Mr. Jordan has, he has made a mark in history that will never be erased. As a new age dawns on us and this one fades to legend, Mr. Jordan and his family will be remembered as Towers in the literary world.

Sincerely,

Adam

Even though i just started reading the books about a month or two ago i still think that he captured my intrest and when i read some of his books my mind gets trapped in the story and i follow it through while Rand fights Draghkar or other Shadowspawn. He made me lose track of time when i read his books. I am looking forward to the new book and may RJ R.I.P.

Sadness fills all of "The Wheel of Time" readers. One thing is certain, he will always be remembered. In the fantasy world Robert Jordan was a modern William Shakespeare. One day I hope to be first in line for the movies as they come out. I will be one of the first to buy the final book. I will be the the one who will constantly read his books to my kids and grand kids when they are old enough to understand the beauty of the purest fantasy writer ever to write.

I am sad to find that in searching for one of my most favourite authors I learned of his death. The world is now a little darker without his amazing imagination to light it up. Even sadder to learn was that he never finished the twelth and final book of his mastiful series. My heart goes out to his family and fans all over the world like me, I wish all of his loved ones the best an dhope they know that to touch him again all they have to do is pick up his books.

I'm sorry to say that I've just this moment learned of Mr. Jordan's death. I'm very surprised to hear of his passing.

I've been a huge fan of the wheel of time series since it's first release. and have waited impatiently every year or so for the next one.

Thats what brought me to this site, and what brought me to learn of his passing, my impatience.

I'm truly sorry for your loss as I know the world is as well.

May he rest in peace and know he was loved the world over.

sincerely, Lynn Evans

I found out about this the month it happened but i decided it would be better to pay my respects now then never. He was a great writer and a great person, I did not know him in real life although i would have loved such an honour to just meet him but through his writing and the semi-annually surfing through blogs i grew great respects towards him and his family.

A great veteran, husband, writer, wise one (as i am sure people thought of him through his blogs and a truly good man. I give my condolences to his family, and my thanks to RJ for so much he has contributed in my life through his books.

I never thought an author could hold my attention through the number of books Mr. Jordan wrote in the Wheel of Time series. I thought I would get bored with the sames characters, extended story line, etc. Boy! Was I ever wrong. I devoured those books. I sucked them in through my eyes and hungered for more. Mr. Jordan's imagination and effort gave me hours and hours of reading pleasure and I am very thankful for his artistic expression. Thank you, thank you, thank you. My sincere condolences to his family and friends at this sad time of loss. May you be heartened by the knowledge that you will meet again on the other side.
