Sometimes even when you've fought your best....

It is with great sadness that I tell you that the Dragon is gone. RJ left us today at 2:45 PM. He fought a valiant fight against this most horrid disease. In the end, he left peacefully and in no pain. In the years he had fought this, he taught me much about living and about facing death. He never waivered in his faith, nor questioned our God's timing. I could not possibly be more proud of anyone. I am eternally grateful for the time that I had with him on this earth and look forward to our reunion, though as I told him this afternoon, not yet. I love you bubba.

Our beloved Harriet was at his side through the entire fight and to the end. The last words from his mouth were to tell her that he loved her.

Thank each and everyone of you for your prayers and support through this ordeal. He knew you were there. Harriet reminded him today that she was very proud of the many lives he had touched through his work. We've all felt the love that you've been sending my brother/cousin. Please keep it coming as our Harriet could use the support.

Jason will be posting funeral arrangements.

My sincerest thanks.

Peace and Light be with each of you,

Wilson

To Catalyst: Never, never loose faith. RJ did not. Harriet hasn't. I haven't. Going through what we have, our faith is only strengthened. Besides, if God didn't exist, we would have never had Jim. We did. God does. Remember my Brother/Cousin, my friend, think of him fondly and glorify God's name.

Editor's Note:

The entire staff of Dragonmount.com would like to extend its most deepest sympathies to Robert Jordan's family. He touched all of our lives in some way and we wish him the rest and peace he deserves. We will be posting information in the near future about where you can send condolences. Please check the News Section for these updates.

Today I have learned of RJ's passing. He had been in my thoughts for the last year, as I was aware of his struggle. I'm very sad now, because although knowing him only from his books, I considered him a great man in many ways. His books have been with me for the last few years - through good and bad moments. As someone already said, I'm one of the countless people whose thread of life was waeved into Robert's world. In return, I made him a part of my own.

Thank you and farewell...

I am extremely saddened at the passing of Robert Jordan from this life.He was without doubt the greatest Fantasy writer I have ever had the pleasure of reading. His books have been my constant companions for years and the hours spent reading the most enjoyable experienced.

I extend my heartfelt condolences to his immediate family and friends and will remember them in my prayers. The world of Literature has truly lost a great man and I have lost a friend.

When I overheard the shop assitant telling another customer of RJ's passing I very nearly burst into tears in front of everyone there. I have always been able to lose myself in his world when I needed to take a break from the one I live in. It feels like losing a family member. You never fully appreciate them until they're gone.

May he rest in peace.

Though I am young (only thirteen) I read and continue to read Robert Jordan's books. When He passed away I was so upset I could not do anything for the rest of the day. Even now I miss him but appreciate his books even more. Since he passed away there is now a little of him that still lives on in the books I read. I and many others will miss Robert Jordan, one of the best fantasy writers the world has ever known. Rest in Peace Mr. Jordan.

I was given Book One of Wheel by my good friend Frank, and it sat on the nightstand for six months. Fortunately, Frank kept nagging me about not having started it. One reply left here, I read: "...We are much poorer now that a writer of such caliber as Robert Jordan has left us...." I would have to say my life has been much richer with the caliber of writing Mr. Jordan left with us. Everyone I've ever spoken to that read The Wheel series adamantly agrees, it is the best they've ever read. Goosebumps rise with the memories of thrills, anticipation, and pleasure brought to life from Mr. Jordan's writing.

The treasure is not lost, the true treasure lives on. Robert Jordan will continue to leave a trail of joy on this world long after we have all departed with him.

For every man, woman, and child, it is a sad day when comes the passing of a legend. Robert Jordan was none other than a legend in the world of fantasy. If I could say one thing to him, it would be "Thank you."

i am sitting here crying my eyes out. i am not a blog or computer person by nature, but finally the info regarding Robert Jordan's death made its way to my ears. He was someone who made me yearn to create though i had no talent for it. There are few books that come along that affect me like eating a favorite food of good sex; that occupy my mind, just lurking in the background "on low". The Wheel of Time made life worth living. Wow....

I was sad when i heard the news of Mr. Jordan's death. I recieved the news late and its taken me along time to think on what to write or do. My friends and I really enjoyed what we've read of the Wheel of time series. I to be brutally honest am quite obsessed with the series and plan to read every book of the series from start to finish. i decided that i will reread everybook while waiting for the last book. If i had the money i'd buy everybook and make use them to make my personal library but even though Mr. Jordan is now resting in peace i will continue to tell everyone i know to read his books.

May the light shine upon him wherever he is. I was so sorry and sad when I heard he had past which came as a big shock since he died in sept. and i found out in nov. all i could think is the man was a genius and he is no more. I have read the whole series and anxiously waiting for the final but that is beside the point, the point is the world has lost one of the greatest writers of our time and I for one will never forget the first time I picked up his books a little hesistant but fully prepared to carry through because a friend who has past told me it was the greatest series he has ever read. I never knew what an impact his books would have on my life. My deepest condolenses to his wife and family, and to Mr.Jordan THANK YOU for your genius.

I had a very big shock today when I recieved the news from my brother-in-law that Robert Jordan had died last Sept. I am not a blog person by nature, but with my brother-in-law's help, I was finally able to access the information regarding Robert Jordan’s death. I have been a very quiet but very avid fan of Robert Jordan and THE WHEEL OF TIME series ever since I was first introdued to him by my brother-in-law shortly after the first book was released. I have read the whole series and have been anxiously waiting for the final one. I am saddened that Mr. Jordan will not finish the final book but am pleased that he made contingencies to have it completed. In my humble opinion, the world has lost one of the greatest writers of our time and I will forever miss his true genius. May God's blessings be upon Robert Jordan, his wife Harriet and his family - he will be truely missed.

I was reading a list of people that had passed away this year and was shocked to discover Robert Jordan's name on the list. My condolences to his family.

One of the greatest joys in my life has been the reading of a good book. I particularly enjoy exploring new lands in the world of Fantasy. I have been reading the Wheel of Time books since the beginning and they've brought me much pleasure over the years. As always when someone you care about (even from a distance) passes away, we are left wanting more. Whether it be the time spent with family or, in my case, the chance to further adventure in the world(s) he created or planned to create.

I'm happy to hear that his final Wheel of Time novel will be completed, but saddened that it was not the great author himself that would bring closure to the saga I've enjoyed so much. I can honestly say Robert Jordan has touched my life. He will truely be missed.

Thank you Mr. Robert Jordan for filling my thoughts with lucid visions of an alternate reality. I grew with Rand and the others, and learned a little more about duty....... what it means to be a man, full of integrity and loyalty. Your WOT has become a bright part of my life's experience, and a portion in the fabric of my character and soul.

I picked up your Conan Chronicles, laughed at the whimsical strife and fierce determination of Conan. A little more of the founding passion and sacrifices of our Fore Fathers in "The Fallon Blood". Aw, the mysteries of love, desire and man's contention for more...

Thank you so much, you will be missed and loved, James Oliver Rigney, our "Robert Jordan".

i did not even know he was gone...i have read "Knife of Dreams" perhaps the hundreth time now and i would always wonder when he would write his next book. i kept saying no way is it going to be finished in the next book, theres still a lot of things thats going to happen. i was 13 when i readn"the eye of the world" since then i have been reading the wheel of time. i still cant believe its over, he's gone. i never thought that a simple story about a sheep herder and his friends would touch me so profoundly. i had always found a kindred souls in the characters he made, they tought me of honor, duty, loyalty, love, loss and suffering. his stories always made me feel that all the hardships i have faced is part of a grand design, that all i have to do was stay the course and persevere. thank you RJ, thank you Harriet, thank you for all the times you welcomed me into the world you made. the wheel of time turns and i will never forget you.

In the end, it matters not the day you were born or the day you passed on. No, what matters most is the way you lived between them. James lived his well, touched many lives, brought the gift of a good story to many, and to many more the love of reading. He will live on as only legends do, in the stories. Thank you for sharing him with us Harriet, and encouraging him as only a wife can do. God bless you and keep you.

I have just found this sad news! About 2 weeks before I found (in Poland) the fresh issue of recent part of WOT. I did not even know that RJ has passed.

I'm sad. With WOT, Robert Jordan gave me (and all of us) something special and fascinating, an important part of life. Thank You, Robert, thank You, Harriet. My condolences for the family.

Many things come

Just as many go

When time comes to pass

The memories last.

In our hearts

Memories stay

In our minds

Memories blossom

Memories fade

But even so

They remain

In our hears

I always re-read The WOT series when I am gearing up for Mr Jordans next masterpiece. I was carrying around "The Fires of Heaven" while waiting for a computer repair and one of the young technitions said,"I love Robert Jordan. Did you know he died?" I felt like someone had kicked me in the gut. I started spontaneously weeping-right in the middle of the Apple store. Right in front of this RJ fan who could not have been more than a toddler when the series first came out. This spectacularly crafted series has gotten me through incredibly painful periods in my life and I have purchased the series for my favorite family members. I love his characters. I feel like I know these people. My heart aches for his family. He helped me find a new appreciation for modesty, humility, responsibility and honor in a way that no one in contemporary media had before. Let us hope that the Wheel spins him out again soon, so that he will not too long be missed.

I really like WOT. Way back in 1996 I started reading it! And I was already thinking that the series would not end in the next couple of years. Praying deep inside that nothing happens to the author as i had already committed myself to reading this fantastic storyline!

Damn!
