Sometimes even when you've fought your best....

It is with great sadness that I tell you that the Dragon is gone. RJ left us today at 2:45 PM. He fought a valiant fight against this most horrid disease. In the end, he left peacefully and in no pain. In the years he had fought this, he taught me much about living and about facing death. He never waivered in his faith, nor questioned our God's timing. I could not possibly be more proud of anyone. I am eternally grateful for the time that I had with him on this earth and look forward to our reunion, though as I told him this afternoon, not yet. I love you bubba.

Our beloved Harriet was at his side through the entire fight and to the end. The last words from his mouth were to tell her that he loved her.

Thank each and everyone of you for your prayers and support through this ordeal. He knew you were there. Harriet reminded him today that she was very proud of the many lives he had touched through his work. We've all felt the love that you've been sending my brother/cousin. Please keep it coming as our Harriet could use the support.

Jason will be posting funeral arrangements.

My sincerest thanks.

Peace and Light be with each of you,

Wilson

To Catalyst: Never, never loose faith. RJ did not. Harriet hasn't. I haven't. Going through what we have, our faith is only strengthened. Besides, if God didn't exist, we would have never had Jim. We did. God does. Remember my Brother/Cousin, my friend, think of him fondly and glorify God's name.

Editor's Note:

The entire staff of Dragonmount.com would like to extend its most deepest sympathies to Robert Jordan's family. He touched all of our lives in some way and we wish him the rest and peace he deserves. We will be posting information in the near future about where you can send condolences. Please check the News Section for these updates.

Strangly enough I don't even have the words to describe how much the Words of Robert Jordan has meant to me through the years.

I have often thought it impossible for one person to have so many stories to tell and then just been glad that it was possible.

The Wheel of time have been a part of my life for so many years and it allways will be.

Thank you so much Robert Jordan for sharing all those adventures with everyone.

You will bee missed

For the last seven years I've been hoping that 'the Dragon' didn't die before he finished the book. This was selfish. I knew he was 'old' (please bear in mind the average age for a male of my family is 51!!!) but I have to confess... his illness for the first time made him human to me. I've never been a big poster here or elsewhere, and it's taken me a few months to put together these poor words that can never equal 'his'. I followed his diagnosis, at first with that trepidation that he'd make true on that fear of mine, but at the last with that feeling and sense that a fellow human being was fighting. And winning. He me have lost that final battle, but the war for the hearts of those of us who surrounded him was not anc could not be lost. At the end, The Dragon won, even at the cost of his blood on Shayol Gul.

Peace and love to Harriet (whose dedication I've read so many times), Wilson and the rest of the family.

A world need not be united under one banner, but it should be united.

For the pleasure and long hours of missed sleep I am truly thankfull...For the chance to live the life of the characters, share in their pain, their triumphs, the wonder of a world so lovingly created that one can feel the hamer-blast of heat in the Aiel waste, smell the sea-spray with the Wave-mistress and walk wonderingly through the cities kis something that I will always treasure. Thank you Sir, may your place on the Wheel ever be assured and your memory treasured.

It's been a long time since I have opened Dragon Mount. The news of his passing deeply saddened me here at my office. I can't help but cry for the passing of a great story teller. Because of you, i would never imagine myself reading a thousand plus page book with no pictures in it and leaving me wanting for more. You had been my companion from my college days up till now that I am working and married. I am from the Philipines and left my home country to work overseas in Dubai for a better future. Even during that time, you were there always there besides me, making me believe that it will like be an adventure just like Rand, Mat or perrin's. I have learned a lot from you - simple things (sayings of Lini), philosophical ideas, religious views and scientific theories. What you say in your books mostly are possible and cause a long hours of great debate with some of my friends. When I open your book a re read it again for the Nth time, I will a pang of sadness for I will be reading it now with the knowledge of your passing. I have never meet you but you have been a companion...a friend... and a mentor for most of my adult life.

The dream ends for you now. You are now in the sheltering in the hands of the Creator.

Maraming salamat sa iyong magandang story!!!

As the thunder roared down in chalenge to the earth,

the lightning struck down in rage.

The earth rumbled in acceptence,

and threw up walls of fire and rock.

the wind blew up from the south and from the west,

rising the waves and breaking the clifs.

and the earth heaved in angst,

pushing back the sea and growling at the air.

as the people of the land cried out,

thier plee's reached out to the Creator.

who took a stand and fought the 4 powers with his own,

Spirit turned to the land and fought for the people.

thus came the end of an age,

the third age.

the age of the Dragon,

thus came the death of the Dragon.

our prayers go out to the Dragon,

and pray that he resides now with the Creator.

sheltered in His hand,

having felt the last embrace of the mother.

People of the Dragon:

Dream well and wake

I've just read the news, and i'm truely devastated. The Wheel of Time series is the single greatest collection of books I have ever read (and reread so many times) Words cannot describe how much joy reading these books has given me, and I feel personally ashamed that i've been too busy with my job and other things to check the site more regularly. All I can say that I offer my sincerest condolences to his family, and know that he will live on in the hearts and minds of the thousands of people that have had the honour of reading his books. Rest in Peace.

This is a great loss to this world, but our loss is Jesus gain. I was joyed to hear that RJ had a faith and knew the Lord Jesus.

I have read all the books but I dont own them, I am looking forward to collecting them all very soon though!

God Bless

Alex

Igor, you're an asshole. In fact, you're evil. You say you're 28? I know 15 year olds who are much more mature than you. I know beasts who are more humane than you are. You're the one being disrespectful. Well, I'm sorry you have no heart. Robert Jordan, may you rest in peace.

We are much poorer now that a writer of such caliber as Robert Jordan has left us. We never met except through his words & they made my life richer. Thank you, adib, London,UK.

I am deeply saddened by the loss. I have been following the fight from the blog and was out of touch for the last four months. The world lost a treasure in who contributed more to this world than they knew. In his books he motivated me to read and explore literature in a whole new light. His creative genius will sorely be missed but his legacy will live on.

My best to all of his family and friends.

My sincere condolences to Harriet and the whole family.

God, I'm 32 and the last time I've cried was when my son was born 4 years ago. And now I hardly can see what I'm writing through the tears.

Thank You My Lord Dragon

Tolkien, Herbert, Jordan... What a fine time God must be having, listening to stories, with these three at his side. May I someday join them to listen in.

Although I'm not what you might call a "groupie", I have been an ardent reader of Robert Jordan for many years. I'm sad to say I was unaware of his passing, and am stunned to happen upon the news. My thoughts are with the family and extended family, albeit belated. He was truly a magnificent storyteller. I have read and reread his works so many times the covers are falling off of some, and was looking forward to Book 12. I'm sure the poinant finally will feel all the more so because it is truly the end.

Brightest Blessings,

Lisa

Wow. I had no idea that one of my favorite writers had died and to learn of his passing fill me with much sadness. But hope remains for all after such a terrible storm as another of my favorite writers once said "faith is like a cord that holds up small box. You belive that the cord is relible and have faith in the cords ability to hold up your box. but as soon as that small cord is the only thing ceeping you from falling into the brink of oblivion, you realize how little you actualy belived in the cord the hole time." However strength of hope from many individuals can make any persons failth like the writings of our dearly departed friend. Full of light admidst the darkness, full of hope amoungst the despair, full of life amoungst the dead. Jordan has not gone from our memories most of all Harriet's and as he sleeps free from the clay and toil he adorned for all his life and dreams dreams of the one he loves most, he awaits the lords comming for him in the final days ware he will reunite with all of the people he loved and who loved him. Dear Harriet, you are our worrior of light. Never falter for we who love you both shall not falter for you .

I just googled to see when the next book would be out in the Wheel of Times series. I can't believe that the author of my favorite series is gone. The comfort of his books saw me through many days and continue to do so as I reread them. He will be greatly missed.
