Sometimes even when you've fought your best....

It is with great sadness that I tell you that the Dragon is gone. RJ left us today at 2:45 PM. He fought a valiant fight against this most horrid disease. In the end, he left peacefully and in no pain. In the years he had fought this, he taught me much about living and about facing death. He never waivered in his faith, nor questioned our God's timing. I could not possibly be more proud of anyone. I am eternally grateful for the time that I had with him on this earth and look forward to our reunion, though as I told him this afternoon, not yet. I love you bubba.

Our beloved Harriet was at his side through the entire fight and to the end. The last words from his mouth were to tell her that he loved her.

Thank each and everyone of you for your prayers and support through this ordeal. He knew you were there. Harriet reminded him today that she was very proud of the many lives he had touched through his work. We've all felt the love that you've been sending my brother/cousin. Please keep it coming as our Harriet could use the support.

Jason will be posting funeral arrangements.

My sincerest thanks.

Peace and Light be with each of you,

Wilson

To Catalyst: Never, never loose faith. RJ did not. Harriet hasn't. I haven't. Going through what we have, our faith is only strengthened. Besides, if God didn't exist, we would have never had Jim. We did. God does. Remember my Brother/Cousin, my friend, think of him fondly and glorify God's name.

Editor's Note:

The entire staff of Dragonmount.com would like to extend its most deepest sympathies to Robert Jordan's family. He touched all of our lives in some way and we wish him the rest and peace he deserves. We will be posting information in the near future about where you can send condolences. Please check the News Section for these updates.

Oh man. Oh man. What can I say? I was gifted a 2nd-hand copy of TEotW back in '93... I had never seriously read fantasy before, and well... the rest is history.

To the Man who gave me years of pleasure and wonder and mystery; I raise a toast to Robert Jordan, Creator of worlds and Master of words, now and forever. May his soul rest in peace, and may his family be strengthened through the love of every single one of his millions and millions of fans.

You will be sorely remembered, wherever you may be in the big pastures up there. I have loved and collected your stories and will treasure your last book all the more now as your voice. Duty heavy as a mountain as it may be, you kept at it to the end. I salute you. You were more ta'veren in touching people's lives than any of your characters ever were.

I'm gonna miss you, in my little corner of the world.

I was stunned upon finding out abour Robert Jordan's passing. Mr Jordan, I hope that you have found water and shade on the other side. Although I have only been reading WOT for about a year and a half, I know I adored the books from the start and still do. I believe you have never really left us, Mr Jordan, as the books and you have become a part of all of us who have read the series. You will always be remembered and sorely missed.

We will see you in Tel'aran'rhoid!

Sincerely,

Azura Farid (a braid-tugger)

I've been off-line for a few months and have just learned of his loss. It feels like a member of my own family is gone. My condolences to his family and friends: it may be cold comfort, but I honestly believe the WoT series will ensure the perpetuation of his memory long after our own passing. Requiescat In Pace.

I was just checking the sci fi site,to see what writers had passed on this year,& just learned that Robert Jordan was one of them. Man, I knew he was sick, but sure hoped for him. I fell in love with his wheel of time from the first free half paperbook edition. His conan work, was the best since Howard. As time passes, He will be respected right up there with Howard and tolken.Never heard a word on the tube about his passing,or even coast to coast with George Norrey.

I was playing LOTRO last night when a friend mentioned the death of Robert Jordan in passing. I could not believe my ears. I was driven to confirm this terrible news. And sadly, now i have. I am struck with a profound sadness for both his family, and his legion of fans (myself included). I am shocked that his passing was not given more media attention. I hope in some small way that this post contributes to that end. Thank you Robert for the gift of your works. You touched many lives. You are missed.

I just returned from Iraq and only just now heard the news. I have great respect for him and for his service to his country. I just would like the family to know how he touched me in my own life. I never read books when I was growing up. I wasn't a very good reader, that was until I was introduced to the WoT series and after reading the first book I fell in love with reading. He truly is a great writer.

My deepest condolences to his family. He will forever be remebered.

For no reason whatsoever that I can think of, I did not hear about Rigney's passing until last week. I refused to believe it at first, and didn't even want to double-check incase it was true. This, for me, is a first. I have never actually cried over someone I have never met. But all his fan's, knew the part of him he shared through his marvelous work, making it a profound loss for all of us. I can only imagine the sadness and loss that his nearest and dearset must feel.

Only one good thing has come of his passing for me: it has marked a new milestone in my life, and has spurred me on with my own writing attempts.

To his family, my deepest sympathy. Know that even now the prayers of many across the world are with you. May God bless you and keep you and let you know a multitude of joy in your lives.

To the legend that is Mr. J.O. Rigney: Thank you, sleep well.

I am one of the others who did not find out until recently. Now, it's as if I've been struck over the head with a blunt object, and the effects haven't receded. I know that he will continue to guide the hands of writers in our time, whispering advice to help us get through our troubles; just as he always has in his works.

It is sad that his time came so soon, yet God's purposes are so often mysterious. Condolences to the family.

I give now my last salute to one of the greatest writers to walk this earth. Rest in peace, and may the angelic fanfare that rang out as you entered the tall golden gates remain forever undimmed for all eternity.

I did not find out about this until now and my first thoughts go to his family. To loose someone dear is never easy and there were so many who loved this man, who has given us so much through his writing. It's not only the US that share your grief and sends it's deepest sympathy to RJ's family, Sweden was also blessed by the wonders of his work, and struck by the sorrow of his death.

Just because I was bored, I decided to check up on how the writing on book 12 was coming. I noticed the front page. I really don't know what to say. I'm not usually an emotional person, but I am truly crying right now. Robert Jordan literally changed my life. I'll never forget him, and I don't think I'll ever be able to look at that incomplete stack of WoT books the same way ever again. Me and countless others will miss you. Goodbye...

I wish to extend my heart felt thanks to the family of Robert Jordan. I wish to thank them for sharing their father and husband with me and my family. I would read the WoT books to my children at night and we would pretend to be the characters from the books. I am positive that his works will pass into history with the other great storytellers. He will be deeply missed.
